The last one I saw was Zombie (Zombi 2). REALLY really good, and very VERY gorey.

I just watched Kibakichi.
I thought it would be a cheesy wedge of Japanese samurai/werewolf comic-book-cheesy goodness, but it was actually more akin to Nightbreed(with an entire clan of otherworldly creatures just trying to get by in approximately 19th century Japan).
Twas slow, and the fx were just classic old school kung fu theatre(or Monty Python & the Holy Grail), ie BAD with glorious jets of blood spurting as far as the eye can see, but I enjoyed it.
And it had Kappa. heart
Supposedly pt2 is one of those rare sequels(ie as good or better than the original, although that's not hard to top...) Going to track it down this weekend at Hollywood Video(cheap movies = woot!) .
If you like different, and have a sense of humor re. movies(or just enjoy an aromatic wedge of cinematic cheese), you might want to check this out.
Or maybe not ...

I watched Cast a Deadly Spell, which is a horror movie for people who love 1940's detective stories and HP Lovecraft. At the same time.

2001 Maniacs. I've been wanting to see this since I heard it was in the making, but I don't remember it getting a theater release. Anyhow it's the best new horror I've seen in a while.

Wolf Creek
It's pretty realistic. Set in the Aussie outback.
It's about some Brittish backpackers who're drugged / imprisoned / tortured by a serial murderer.
Based on a true story. gonk
