Mr Ringo Starr Bugsy Jacquelyn Mr Ringo Starr Whoever says they weren't misty-eyed when "Let It Be" played is a liar. So true. Though I get misty-eyed when that song plays anyway. I'm glad you and I got to see it together. I've tried to avoid this thread until seeing it in case of spoilers. But I saw it on my trip out of town. TWICE! I was hoping to see it in SF when I was doing the Imagine Peace activism on John's birthday but they weren't playing it anymore. What the Hell? I dug the movie. The plot was pretty weak, but the songs were well done and it was visually stimulating. I didn't have to go sober once if you catch my drift. ; ) I Want You (She's So Heavy) was probably my favorite part. The split symbolism was perfect. John would have appreciated that for sure. (& I have to agree with Color-Me, those boys were hot. I want me one. Hah.) Word. The problem I had were some of the characters. The landlord just didnt go well with the movie. Anytime she sang, I wanted to plug my ears. Jude was the best character in the movie, thats for damn sure. No way. Sadie went so well with it. She Janis Joplin-ed it out. I don't blame Prudence for wanting her. ; ) But I can see why you didn't dig it, it's an acquired taste.

Thank god! I thought I was the only one who knew Prudence was a lesbian! I had to explain it to my parents in full. 'Dear Prudence...won't you come out of the closet?'
But yeah, I wanted Sadie/Janis just as much as Prudence. heart I nearly fainted when she sang 'Helter Skelter'....Damn I wish they had ended up together! Jojo/Jimi didn't do much, and I liked Prudence.
I really loved how they had all those references to real life. I mean, there were the obvious ones and all, like Sadie=Janis Joplin and Jojo=Jimi Hendrix and Bono as Ken Kesey, but I thought it was really cool how they played out the whole Furthur bus trip to meet Timothy Leary. *Is glad she read The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test*
What a fantastic movie.

My 8th grade History teacher used to have an Uncle Sam poster on the wall, and out of spite he put me right in front of it, and I had bizarre fears that it was going to reach out and grab me...so I tore the corners off when the teacher wasn't looking (and stuck obscene post-it notes on it at points, but was careful not to let him catch me.) 'She's so heavy!' *lugging Liberty across the jungle* That was beautiful. Forget Jude, Max was the best guy character.

I'm glad they picked him.
He'll also be in the new Joy Division/Ian Curtis movie, "Control".
You think he just likes being in movies about phenomenal bands?

I saw it again yesterday with my friend Cassie, who liked it. My friend Rachael actually showed up at the theatre at the same time, so we watched it again with her. I loved it still, but had to b***h-slap Rachael when she said it was terrible. I spent the rest of the night reciting that thing about 'masturbatin' alligators'.

Across the Universe was brillant appsolutely brillant. Amazing. The best movie I have ever seen, honestly. I am so very pleased that finally people nowadays are finally smarting up and listening to the right kind of music. It is over do.

I'm still not sure how I feel about Bono even being in the movie. I'm pretty sure he and John didn't get along so well.... ANOTHER THOUGHT! I know they're only on screen for like 2 seconds, but the "Cavern band"....was that supposed to be Ringo or Pete? Cause he looked more like Pete, but then again, the casting agents could have failed. I'm not sure.

I dunno *who* that was supposed to be, but I bet it was Pete. I was just thrilled that they included that! It made me giggle, even though they didn't actually look like The Beatles. But you got the hint.

But you got the hint. I KNOW, RITE?! I haven't seen that movie since high school....now I really want to see it again. Add it to the list for a future movie night. Bono....I don't understand why he's so popular. I mean, I know he does all this good for impoverished people which is righteous and all, but he kinda....flaunts his fame. Throws his weight around, you know what I mean? All that on top of the fact he's not a very good singer kinda turn me off. I don't recall anything about a masturbating alligator, though..... The Cavern kids....I need to find a picture of them somewhere. There's not one on IMDB as far as I could find. I really only caught sight of George and Ringo, and Ringo didn't look right. George looked a little more like he did in '64. Not much like Cavern George at all. neutral Crazy casting agents.

I sang along to all the songs cause we were like alone in the theatre ♥♥♥♥ Jude is a hottie XD The weirdest part of the movie was either when Prudence was walking between the foot-ball players, not even fazed, and they're just crashing around her. The first time I watched it, I half expected this: "....You've got that something, I think you'll understand. When I say that something, I want to hold your---EEEP!" And then when she said 'Just tell them you're a *****, and you want to rape and pillage all the little girls that look like me.' Huuuuuh?
