My cousins explained to me that fanaa means something along the lines of love and destruction. Is that really what it means: destroyed in or by love, love destroys you, or soemthing?
the translation for that is "Destroyed in love" ...well thats how my family chooses to translate it for me anyway
ninja i think its more like just 'destroyed'
take a line out of the song mere haath mein from the same movie for example
"tere pyaar mein ho jaaun fanaa"
that would roughly translate to 'may I be destroyed in your love' if faana meant "Destroyed in love" then there are two words for love (pyaar = love) and that doesnt make sense for me lol ....and hindi/urdu is hard to translate into english so my conclusion is that for the title of the movie you can take it as "Destroyed in love" but if its in the song then "destroyed" or something along the lines of that.
