The grey eyes on the visage of the scholar widened. The stump beneath him quivered as the god Angstrom called upon some mystic magic. His eyes pierced the distance between them and watched the actions of the ancient god. There'd most definitely be a service to his country by watching this episode of Angstrom's power.

It'd also make a marvellous poem. Probably.

Angstrom Grinned as he saw the head of the beast. It was a power feeder, and an ancient one. this would be fun.
The thing crawled out into the blood red sun, squinting its yellow eyes.
It truly was Ancient. It was long and serpentine, three hundred times the length of a man, with two scaled arms ending in hooked, dripping claws. Its mount was cavernous, filled with rows upon rows of dagger sized teeth. Its tongue was suckered and long, muscular and fibrous, dripping with a malignant ooze that hissed against the earth as it fell.
A worthy foe.
Angstrom's eyes became slits as he viewed his foe.
hah... this one claimed many mighty warriors in its days. it will be good to slay it, or at least weaken it.
Twitching his ankles, He flew into the air alongside the Power Thirster, Pulling his sword in an upward thrust as he leapt. He launched out his right foot and connected with its bony snout. It caved in under the impact, spattering Angstrom with its foul, black blood. He slid down its scaly back, dragging his blade deep into the beast as he went, splitting it Nigh in two. When he reached the rump of the beast, he withdrew his sword and was about to hamstring it when its Sinewy tail snapped him off it's back.
Angstrom was winded. though he was a god, he had taken a mortal form, and WAS still prone to injury. He fell to the ground thirty feet away from the beast, who roared triumphantly, blotting out the sun itself with its massive head. Angstrom Leapt up and charged, letting loose his war cry.
HERE was the Angstrom of old days, the mighty god that swayed the fates of thousands when he took form.
Pitting himself against the mighty, the merciless, and coming out on top every time.
He dove under the beast's scaly hide, much to it's rage, and Swung a mighty slash to the side, Hacking off the beast's leg and laming it. He rolled away, drenched in it's black blood and muscle, tendons and bone fragments. He leapt again up to it's back, driving his sword deep into its spine, severing it. Spattered with gore and vertebrae, He leapt to the thing's neck, and cut it's esaphogous.
The beast still was not dying, wounded though it was. But, it DID know when to give up. Hissing as it mended its esaphogous, it slowly slithered back into the caves from whence it came, lamed and wounded, but not mortally so.
Angstrom spat out the blood and waved his hand, dispelling the blood and gore with a hiss and some vapor. He cleansed his blade on the earth, and sent it away to its home.
Well, that should make some adventurer's day. he thought grimly.

"That's something you don't see everyday," the scholar said, rather bluntly, as he watched the battle. His eyes watched the man's swings and barbarous hackings, and he watched how the god cut the 'thing' up. If the man recalled correctly, the extremely large monster was called a 'power feeder'. But power feeders that huge are only part of old legends..

The grey-eyed man pondered as he watched Angstrom chop off a leg belonging to the oozing monster.

Angstrom walked over to the gray eyed scholar, sighing and sitting down.
"Well, that was fun. That will make some adventurer's job easier. Now, you dont be telling anyone about us. we're keeping it secret until the dawn of the new century." Angstrom winked at him conspiratorally, chuckling slightly.

"I wouldn't dream of it, Angstrom," the man said in agreement with the ancient god.

the event was long over, and spring had given way to summer and All of its warmth. Angstrom smiled.
It was a good day to be alive.
