Yugao This thread is one I find interesting. His claim to fame is being a member of the "Spelling Nazi" guild, yet he uses the wrong type of "there" and the word "grammer." I'm just now in a little debate with him about pluralization of the word "Nazi" which he believes has an apostrophe in it. whee Here's the blurb: Yugao G Angel Yugao G Angel Read it again. It means: If you are a spelling Nazi or if you hate Spelling nazi's you can come in here aswell... both categories genius! You don't need an apostrophe for the pluralization of nouns. For this particular noun you do. Ha! Riiiiight. Because some nouns get special treatment. That's pretty silly. I don't pretend to know everything about English grammar, so just to double check your facts, I took a trip to dictionary.com. It says the plural is "Nazis" not "Nazi's." Does anyone know if his claim was grounded in anything? He said it with such authority that it made me question my own intuition. He's just a retard. http://www.apostrophe.fsnet.co.uk/3. Common examples of such abuse (all seen in real life!) are: I realize that this is a British site, but the apostrophe has no different rules regarding American English vs British English. Yeah, I figured he was just a retard. I don't understand why people say things like "for this particular noun you do" when they have no idea what the ******** they're talking about. It just makes them look worse when someone who knows something comes along. xp I wonder if the Spelling Nazi guild knows that this guy slipped through the cracks.
