According to what Nomura said in an interview, Braig (Xiggy's other) encountered the knights while he was apprenticed under Ansem the Wise. He only mentioned Braig seeing them, didn't say anything about the other four. Plus he does hitn towards it in KH2 in a few ways. One, int he first version he says, "You don't look half the heroes the others were."
In FM+, in a new scene when he speaks with Zexion, he tells him about the keyblade war and talks about the keyblade-wielding knights. This s where he mentions how he suspects Xehanort with having something to do with them before he lost his memories.
He definitely knows more than what he, or the others for that matter, lets on.
