both are helpful, but i like the design layouts for most of the japanese-made fanbooks. like the Shuffle! fanbook for the game. the kanon fanbook for the game.... they all look pretty good.

*sighs* yep. thats why i hate whiteland. all the stuff has to be censored for kids.... *sigh* japan has all the cool stuff...

.... i dont get it. what the japanese are expected to know are what we are expected to know also. there is no difference in the area of knowledges covered by the japanese and us. after all, anime/manga/eroges and all other things japanese comes from japan, and that means we are expected to know the same thing as they are. there isnt any difference in fields of knowledge.

references do require translator notes, that is true. but i mean stuff like changing the lauguage and using American expressions to change the dialogues of characters, and changing the text and whatnot. that is not required, and should be translated straightforward.

thats why i think dubs should just be burned alive for eternity in the deepest depth of hell. it is one of the worst abominations the white man created...

my principle concerning anime is, "if you are too lazy to read subtitles, dont watch." after all, Catholics believe that Sloth is a sin, and i agree with them even if i am not Catholic.

It really all depends on what people see first, and what they can connect with when it comes to the subject of subs vs dubs. I mean, japanese voice actors are great, but some english VAs are just as good. Inu Yasha's english VAs are all amazing I found, and I find they're even better then the japanese ones. On the other hand, I drill a hole in my head whenever I hear the english version of Please Twins xp

Subs are good, and dubs are good, it just depends on getting the right actors for the job, and what knowledge needs to be understood to get through the anime/manga/etc. in question. I mean, Look at the Type-Moon games, with every attack, skill, race, and weapon having such technical terms to them, direct translation to english would be difficult to understand without a prior knowledge of what everything was. At times like these, its best to just have someone rewrite the words to get the definition in a way thats more easily understood.

And another thing, if you're watching an english dub, I think they should refrain from using japanese honorifics and terms. I know something is lost in the translation when you exclude honorifics like senpai and kohai, but its just not the way that English people speak, and we watch the english version to get something in a language we can commune with. (though there are sometimes when they take it too far; i.e. changing Sakura Kinomoto's name to Sakura Avalon in the english version of CCS.).

dubs suck compared to subs just becuz subs are the original. anime is japanese. keep it that way. the only reason dubs was created is becuz people were too lazy to read and the white man needs to have everything as easy as possible.

oh, and i think inuyasha's dub was one of the worst. the only series that i can approve so far is Fullmetal Alchemist. this series only.

i put universal standards before standards of different companies. screw that. anime is anime. it doesnt need separate standards. and i say that, in my opinion as well as the opinions of people i met in real life or the net, they say that FMA's subs were the most well-done dubs, but not the best.

and i dont mind japanese people dubbing our stuff becuz i am never going to have to watch american things with dubs. i care if anime is dubbed becuz it affects me.
