It might not be the best place to put this... But I sort of stopped watching many new Disney movie after Pocahantas redface What ones are worth checking out/seeing?
I did see and like Lilo and Stitch, Emperor's New Groove, and Mulan... I'm wondering about things like Home on the Range, Brother Bear, Hercules, etc.

Er... Brother Bear was okay...it has some sweetness to it. Tarzan is the one to see though, it was amazing. Hercules is the one to avoid, it butchers all the greek mythology and the story drags a bit... or a lot...

If you see any of the sequels, Return to Neverland. Peter Pan was the only story that actually goes on. The sequel is cute and has it's moments.

Fantasia 2000 is great, if you are into Fantasia.

Finding Nemo was really popular, but I think it might have been a bit over-rated. It is cute though, and worthy to own.

I still haven't seen Home on the Range...it doesn't look that great.

Also, The Hunchback of Notre Dame!

I'm a bit iffy on seeing that one because I read the book a long time ago... And it just... didn't look like it would work as a kid's movie sweatdrop

But basically I'd willing to give it a go sometime if it's a good movie ignoring that. Heck, I'd even give Hercules a chance trying to ignore everything I learned about Greek myths... but it sounds like it has plot problems on top of that sweatdrop

Post-Pocahontas, eh? You should definitely see Tarzan and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (and I say this as a ravenous Victor Hugo fan.) You should avoid Hercules and Atlantis. I haven't seen Home on the Range. Everything from Pixar is good. And Brother Bear is kinda cute, but it would've been a lot better as a musical (methinks).

Man, I loved Brother Bear. Probably one of the better Disney Movies that have come out in the last several years. It was the moose that made it worth it. *sigh* they brought me back to the good old days of SCTV and The Great White North. Yes, I adore Bob and Doug Mackenzie. Only thing missing was the beer... though they had some vague mention of making moonshine or something to that degree. Wheat something... or barly something. Err, I can't remember.

All of the Pixar animations have been wonderful. Pity that Disney isn't dong any more movies with them. Monsters Inc. Was good. I just thought it was so cute and it had such a lovely storyline.

Yeah, that was the best part of the movie! It was something about "This calls for a couple rounds of barley on a bed of malted hops". I was in complete hysterics when I first heard them say that.

I loved Brother Bear too. biggrin

Last I heard, they were still trying to work something out with pixar, but I think it's over.

It cracks me up that Disney thinks it can do CG cartoons as well as pixar did. I think the first one is Chicken Little? We shall see how that does. And if it bombs, I'm preparing myself to say "I told you so."

:sigh: DIsney is so cruel! How could they close their 2D animation studio?! Yarg! Now all I can see from them are computer animated movies and I prefer 2D animation a lot more! It's just so sad...

I think a lot of people prefer 2D animation, at least for certain things, like people. They look more realistic to me in 2D for some reason.

And did you notice it's been a long time since Disney's come out with a good princess movie? I think that's what they need to get people coming to see their films again. And I just can't see a 3D, computer graphics princess happening.

Not only a princess movie, but some sort of romance. Since 2000 it's all been brotherly love type movies. They should do a maybe Repunzel or something like that.

I heard they were working on a Rapunzel, but it got scrapped...don't know why they'd do that. Maybe because Barbie beat them to it?

[Sigh.] Disney is dying. They need to go back to making 2D musical fantasy romances. That's why we've all loved them for almost a century! There's plenty of fairytales out there that haven't been covered yet. Or they could go with other literary or historical stories, like they did with Hunchback, The Lion King, Pocahontas, Mulan....

My gosh! We just need another one of those feel-good movies where good triumphs over evil, the hero and heroine live happily ever after, and people break out into snappy songs at the right points of the story, with beautiful art, beautiful music, and a beautiful story. [Sheds a tear.]
