I have 2 major pet peeves, one is when I cant hit any of the PCs because of my dice rolls and there fore, they kill me without a fight, and the other is when people start to talk out of character about totally un-related subjects, but I have a good way of dealing with that, I flung a pencil at someone and it stuck up their nose. I am deadly with a pencil, oh and I smacked someone in the teeth with a poker chip.

Dang, you abuse your players. <.<

You know, not everyone enjoys being fixated on D&D for hours on end... we like talking about something else every once in a while. Lighten up. ^^;

I have recently had a revelation that some of my pet peeves are actually isolated instances, whereas a pet peeve is something that's supposed to annoy me repeatedly, or at least more than once. I have also come to the realization that some actions inappropiately named pet peeves (NOT Vow of Poverty) all in fact radiate from one individual. This is perplexing, because I DO in fact enjoy playing with this person, and in retrospect, have likely lashed backwards at them more often than necessary. That person deserves an apology.

Forgetfulencinda, I'm going to give you a hug.

My PET PEEVE is people who don't play Evil characters well. CE is the random, I'll do this WAHAHA I'm evil, LE is the more thinking evil the how do I control the population AND futher my own needs at the same time, hmmmm... I play NE, the I'm a selfish b*****d who only joins a party because its convienant for me to, more people to distract the enemy and more people to cover for me if I screw up. I've used this same character with a Paladin in the party and a CG Cleric, and a CG ranger (both wood elves, I'm a Drow, yes they kinda hate my existance) -BUT they choose to judge me by my actions rather than by race, so I'm just carefull around them twisted I've only had a dozen or so problems with the Paladin, and ony once has he attacked me, I pointed out that I was not hurting anyone and he was going to kill a potentally innocent man since no one could prove that I did anything. Then I slit his throat while he slept that night, ummm Drow? hello? Point is I've yet to have a major unforseeable problem with my evil character.

slit his throat when he wasnt looking eh? sounds like a nice, evil action...but how do you explain it to the rest of the party when he's the only dead person in the morning? and, it begs the question, but did you have enough space in your bag of holding to loot him too? as for my pet peeves...it's people who can't play drow...especially on Neverwinter nights servers...yes, that's where I play the majority of my DnD these days...but thats not my point...it's a sad thing when a drow will be an asshat to a female drow...and expect to even survive to the next day (or even the end of the hour). People who don't know drow culture should NEVER play drow...not even 'drizzit' drow...which is a bullshit thing to do. No Drow would go good if they could avoid doing so...And it's not like a 'good' drow would be welcome ANYWHERE. think about it: a drow goes to town...they WILL be shot at first, and maybe asked questions with speak to the dead spells. an exiled 'good drow' goes to an underground drow city...they will be annihilated on sight.

Everybody wants to be Drizzt. rolleyes Even if they can't pronounce his name properly. Seriously, that mispronounciation is all of ten seconds younger than the character.

Hm... Reminds me of Norespose's first attempt at killing the party wizard. ^_^ Which ironically he explained off perfectly as a drow attack. That DM just wouldn't let me kill him though, dang it!

I realise i'm new here, but in defense of the munchkins, i can see where they're coming from, i dont see anything wrong with making a character to the best of its abilities, the only problem i get from these situations it that the campaign now has a main character and his "groupies"

Also, my pet peeves are ninjas (mostly due to two people who lacked the finesse and intelligence to play them as they were meant to be played) and people who insist they can roleplay when they really couldnt roleplay their way of out a paper bag.

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion, Phoenix, regardless of how long you've been here. I have to admit that I often feel like my character's persona is fine and all, but I really just wish he could HIT something.

About those ninjas though, did it seem like they were trying to be ninjas simply in the hyper-kill-you-guy sense rather than the sneaky assassin sense? I know a guy that REALLY wants to be a ninja, but absolutely despises the ninja class, and would rather customize the Monk class. I'm wondering if this is a rising trend, or even the future Pet Peeve of 2010.

sort of paper, iunno, they put all their skills into hide and move silently which seems logical but then when the opportunities came to use those skills to their advantage, they never took them, and it always wound up being my spot to save their a** cuz they screwed up lol

In all fairness, a ninja need not even be an assassin. Historically, the ninjas started out as people who were oppressed or underprivelaged who saw something very wrong with the way Japan was run. They wanted to fix things themselves but unfortunately were immeasureably outnumbered and outgunned. The only way they could push their own ideals and such was through extreme use of their brains and stealth, and generally unfair play. Of course, this made them ideal assassins anyway. Much like modern-day middle-eastern terrorists, they could cause a lot of harm just by being "invisible." In other words, by blending in with every other average Joe.

Last ninja I played (only ninja I can remember playing) wasn't even particularly good at killing... but he had an excessively high Int, and thus a crapload of maxed-out skills, which I abused the heck out of. ^_^

One thing I really hate are the know-it-alls who rag on the inexperienced players to the point they want to quit the game. People like that need to try and remember they were beginners at one point in time too. Also, people who aren't team players in any sense, making my job as DM even more difficult, and then complain about everyone else during gameplay >.> Basically, all in all, my biggest pet peeve is immature players.

I've decided that I hate it when prior commitments interfere with the game. Damn you, Army.

I also hate it when players having problems with each other transfers to their characters.

I also hate it when a player cannot play their alignment, most often the lawful variety.

I literally just joined this guild, but I'll be more than glad to put in my two cents in this argument.

My biggest pet peeve is DM's who are too restrictive.
Now I can understand outlawing somethings (For example, a +4 LA in a level 5 campaign), but there is a limit.
One of my friends who constantly DM's restricts EVERYTHING but humans as PC's. We've encountered more in his lands but we're stuck as humans. No elves, dwarves, halflings, gnomes, nothing. But we've dealt with them on multiple occasions.

And on another note, I sometimes wonder if there are more renagade Drow then regular Drow. One time I was DM-ing, FR setting, in Thay. For those of you who are not aware, Thay has an entire Drow city beneath it that they are unaware of. Five out of six players were Drow, all CG alignment. Three of those five used dual scimitars, had levels in ranger, and had a panther as an animal companion. Two of them even went so far as to name themselves Draast and Drasst, twin brothers who were half-cousins of guess who. All five had been kicked out of the Underdark for rejecting traditional ways.

I almost ripped my hair out at that idiocy.

Fortunately, I didn't need to. Upon entering Thay, a country known for mass racial intolerance to anyone but humans, they were arrested, charged with being Drow, and executed for said "crime." Best thing is that I warned them to wear disguises and they didn't listen. Sometimes a TPK DOES solve your problems. And I am fully aware that's just bad DM-ing but I couldn't stand that torture.

Not so!

If they decided to do something that should obviously get them all killed, they die! Even Drizzt spends little time in populated areas due to discrimination.

I don't even allow people to play clones in my campaigns. <.< Doesn't stop them from trying.

"Hey Mike! This character's a ranger."
"Okay."
"Yeah, I've decided he should fight with two scimitars."
"Ugh... You're kidding, right? You know you get huge penalties for that."
"And you know what his name is? Drizzm!"
"NO!"
