What's childish about 'Gargoyles: Angels of Darkness'?

Who knows? confused

and Durrypoo, you need to hit your friend with a brick. And jeez, talk about having something in common! A 'friend' of mine has a HUGE misconception on a LOT of bands out there, and his arrogance in talking about such bands is so annoying it makes me want to hit him with said brick. And he was the one who got ME into metal, believe it or not!

yea, it's the arrogance what pisses me off the most

oh ya, also this week I got two big chances to paint big smiles on my face... when I was driving my uncle - a totally soft music guy who listens mostly to spanish rock(mana, eros ramazotti) - to buy some stuff we needed for my grannie's b-day party, and I had Avantasia's Metal Opera pt. I playing in my stereo and he asked me who was that band, because he LIKED IT. Also today earlier my friend - a grunge anti-metal b*****d - was at my house and I had some Helloween being played on my computer, and my friend was really headbanging to the sound of it... I felt really good seeing people accept metal! whee

I dislike people who doesn't listen to Blind Guardian... indeed, I bite them in the legs, and then while they're rolling on the floor in pain, I pour gasoline on them, and set them on fire. ninja

My luck is that it will catch fire as soon as I get home

It pissed me off earlier when one of my "friends" told me that my music isn't metal. And seeing as I listen to Rhapsody, Blind Guardian, and Avantasia most frequently...

Blasphemy... That ******** thinks I can get into Panic at the Disco. He most likely doesn't even know what metal is.

If you hear there other stuff there very for real.... I don't know the deal with that song... XD

I hear no joke there, it is an awesome song from a talented band. i like what I heard. I think a band is entitled to some comedy or some wierdness, as long as they have the talent. Kiss, Twisted Sister and Maiden can put on an outrageous stage show, but they have the talent. SOAD tries to be so political, so cool, but they need the talent first. I think that was great.

As for Maiden, Priest, Dio etc.
Iron Maiden is probably cited in the influences of of every power metal band. They really jump started it, as they did with most every genre, almost all our bands today can trace their influences to Maiden, ESPECIALLY Power metal. The others also have a strong influence on all our bands, I think Halford's high pitched singing as in Screaming For Vengeance is a heavy influence on Power Metal.

And finally, for my rant:
DragonForce
Great band, yes, great guitars, yes, awesome sound, yes, but the best power metal band, no. Everyone loves DragonForce, but has never even heard of Gamma Ray, or sometimes even Helloween. It is sort of upsetting that Power Metal is virtually underground in America, and still not huge in Europe. There are only a handfull of Full-on Power Metal, and not that many more strongly influenced by it, and they are all virtually unknown, especially in my generation. I asked my friend, who proudly displays his DragonForce shirt, what he thought about Helloween, and he had barely heard of them, and when I asked if he knew who Gamma Ray was, he said no. I am so lucky to have my Uncle, a virtual athority on metal. If he hasn't heard of it, it isn't worth listening to. He is the reason I am into Metal, and the only reason I know so much about it. I give DragonForce a lot of credit for familiarizing everyone with Power Metal, but I have my complaints about them. ZP has awesome emotion and power to his voice, but doesn't have the greatest voice. Herman uses too many effects, plain and simple. Pac Man? come on, what serious guitaristuses it? But I guess when you are that talented, you can do whatever you want. But, Power metal doesn't recieve enough credit.

Sorry that this post is so long, but I had a lot to say.

I'd just like to have a small verbal tantrum about how hard it is to find an album by Sonata Arctica with "Mary-Lou" on it. I may have to import the Japanese version of "Ecliptica," and I already own the domestic release. >.<
Come on, SA. It's a great song. Make it readily available.

A friend of mine recently said that DragonForce are better than Blind Guardian. I tried to point out to him how false this was but he refuses to believe me. The vocals of ZP Theart in no way match those of Hansi Kürsch. And even without taking vocals into account, Blind Guardian are still so much better. I was insulted that he thought otherwise.

Wow, you should rape your mother's friend and make him watch it, then let him get a**-raped by Herman Li and finally stab him in one of his lungs so he dies from bleeding. Dragonforce is in no way better than Blind Guardian.

Keeping in mind that he's my friend, I don't think that's particularly the right course of action sweatdrop
But yeah, I'll make him see how wrong he was somehow-Hansi Kürsch's vocals really own like biggrin
And yeah, Blind Guardian are well better than DragonForce.

I hear you on that last bit. I definitely love Dragonforce. They have an upbeat major-key sound that I love, but I love me some Helloween and Gamma Ray too. And I only seriously got into power metal this past November (thought I've been a fan of various bands like Kamelot and Luca Turilli for a while without really knowing the genre). So I would even say that it doesn't take much effort to acquaint yourself with the old masters, as it were.

Why is Inhuman Rampage praised so much? I'd been speaking to the metal forum when I became a DragonForce fan and they'd recommended I get VotD first, then Sonic Firestorm, which I did. I loved both those albums, perhaps not as much SF. But I bought Inhuman Rampage for a sense of completion and thought at first that it was ok. I really loved Through The Fire And Flames and Operation Ground And Pound. But the rest of the tracks were all just noise, recycled riffs, mind-numbing speed and guitar effects. What really pissed me off was seeing the label on the front cover of Inhuman Rampage that said "With this album, DragonForce are set to be bigger than Star Wars!". It actually made me cringe. It's a very bad album and yet whenever you mention DragonForce to some n00b, the likelyhood is, they'll reply with "THRU TEH FIRE AND TEH FLAMEZ!!221". It really sickens me that DragonForce's good albums, their really solid work, isn't appreciated by people who aren't like us.
