"For now..." Joshua said to the doll in responce, not bothering to turn his head to look at her, as he had given up, by this point, all delusions of keeping up a sense of class when within this place. Now it was business, and that business was named Hokuten.

"Girl," he said, snapping the fingers of his right hand as he continued down the hallway towards the large foyer that they had been in before, "pack whatever belongings you wish for... we're leaving."

Farrah was taken somewhat aback by Joshua's statement.
"Certainly. If my master wishes it, I shall accompany you. Permit me to reconstitute myself into a more suitable form for the occasion."

"Certainly. If my master wishes it, I shall accompany you. Permit me to reconstitute myself into a more suitable form for the occasion."

"Don't bother," Joshua said to her, without pausing. By this time he had reached the end of the hallway, and had stepped out into the cavernous foyer once more; the walls and ceiling seeming to disappear into each other in the distance and the darkness, "the one you are in will do perfectly fine."

He stopped as he reached the top step, setting one foot down upon the first step while his other still rest upon the landing. Looking back over his shoulder towards the bleach-white girl's body, looking so perfectly fragile that it seemed as if it might break with each step... and he grinned.

"You already have the perfect vessel to capture the punk with..."

(( I think I'll just go by Geck now, since it's easier! @_@;

And appologies for taking so long to post. I was away. ))

Geck raised a brow and spun around, staring at the the man.

"...Sir?" He questioned, taking a few steps forward, though cautiously.

"Are you all right?"

"You already have the perfect vessel to capture the punk with..."

Farrah paused for a moment, but understanding overtook her quickly.

"I understand. Nonetheless shall take a few things."

Farrah then flitted away into the darkness, returning moments later with a small leather satchel.

"Will you be needing you anything yourself, Joshua?"

Meanwhile...

The cart continued its passage up the street, heedless of Geck's inquiry. The driver lurched, bounced by the cobblestones and said nothing.

Ryutsume looked down at Spiegel, who squeaked and tugged at his pantleg nervously.

"What? Don't tell me you're chickening out already..."

Like a child leading his father, Spiegel siezed Ryutsume's hand and dragged him to the window. While they headed right for the window, Valda made a discovery of her own.

"I've got it!" bellowed Valda, who rose the fourteenth book she skimmed through, looking for information on the Machinai, "I have something that can help us!"

Geck did not give up so easily. "W-what? Hey, wait!" He yelled out, jogging beside the cart, his gaze still locked on the mysterious man.

"Answer me!"

Kokuza's heart felt a flicker of lightness amid the encroaching dark, but he did not cling to uncertain hope.
"What have you found, Valda?" Kokuza asked tensely.

Outside, the oxcart drew closer to Valda's shop, still heedless of Geck's advances.

Spiegel's squeaks became nervous. Down below, the cart's load of burlap had begun to move unnaturaly.

"Will you be needing you anything yourself, Joshua?"

He shook his head in responce to her, looking to the girl for a moment before stretching his neck to each side to loosen the muscles, then returning his gaze to her. "Nothing aside from my own things... we'll be stopping to get my bag at the stadium before we continue to Barton."

That said, he stepped down and continued down the stairs, towards what had apparently been the exit, or at least the direction that they had come in from, judging by the sparse placement of furnishings... including the iron body of Granheim.

Farrah gestured to the centre of the room, opening a rift in the air. Darkness poured through as it grew to roughly human size. Farrah swept her arm and invited Joshua to enter.

"Oh, one thing you might find of interest..." Ahrim's voice boomed suddenly from above. "I have sent a small party to Barton to ascertain Kokuza's abilities before we make our move... Farrah will give you our findings, should you find them of use."

Ryutsume watched the ox-cart draw close as Valda spoke to Kokuza. Spiegel was frantic, pointing at it feverishly.

"I've found a way we can take the Machinai out of you without your body being damaged. With the proper amount of concentration, I'll be able to send Machinai from body to body without any problems!" she said with triumph.

"Uh..." Ryutsume said a little quietly. Valda did not hear him.

"This is the best part: The body doesn't even need to be alive for it to work! We can put Machinai in a corpse and then carry it around in that." she said, doing a little victory sign with her index and middle finger, "Mistress Valda saves the day!"

Meanwhile, Ryutsume's face began to turn white as the caravan shivered.

"Bad things are about to happen, aren't they Spiegel?" he whispered hoarsely.

Spiegel nodded, "Hrn."

Geck continued to follow the cart, and now he knew for sure something wasn't right. However, he did not wish to complicate things, so he simply decided to follow the wagon.

But when he saw the burlap move, his eyes widened and jaw dropped.

"What exactly are you carrying under there, man!? Answer me now! Last warning!" Though his tone seemed harsh, deep inside Geck was scared.

Joshua said nothing, really, to either of them. He simply looked up, gazing at the tall walls of the cavernous room as if he were trying to look to the source of the projected voice, and then stepped to the portal.

"And here I thought Farrah and I were going to have a bit of time to bond...?" he said, a tone of innocent questioning in his voice as he smirked. Looking back, his glance went once to the female figure, and then to the portal, as he stepped through.

Kokuza thought for a moment before speaking.

"That sounds like a good move... Though who is to be the recipient?"

Before Valda could answer, there was a great crash from outside. Spiegel shrieked, but only half as loud as Ryutsume.

Below the window, the ox-cart had crashed into the side of Valda's shop. its bales dumped wholesale into the street.

It was at this point that Ryu could see at last that the sacks had human forms. Human forms that had begun to stand and move around.

Geck stopped dead in his tracks once the ox-cart slammed into the shop. "...Uh oh." He said to himself, taking a few steps back, his hand gripping the handle of his newly obtained staff.

But something in the nearby window caught his attention. Was that Ryu?!

He didn't have much time to think about what he saw, though, and quickly returned his gaze to the zombie-like creatures.

Below, the senses of the old man Heidern kicked in and he flew away from the front of the store, taking a war fan off of the wall behind him, running for the stairs and preparing for the worst.

Upstairs, Ryutsume and Spiegel latched onto each other like scared monkeys and started screaming in unison. Valda lost her balance thanks to the crash and had to prop herself on the bookstand behind her.

"What in Thor's name?!" she shrieked. Then, a dark force hit her mind, and she sensed evil beneath them. Heidern stumbled up the stairs armed with the fan.

"Mistress!" he wheezed, "A cart crashed into shop!"

Valda began to seeth and she spoke with venom, "We have to act fast...he's here,"

Once again, Ryutsume and Spiegel squawked in terror.
