Dark Freeze made Pennington think for a moment... But only a moment. As the words bounced off of his skull, he couldn't help but laugh when Spirit Dew ran in to hide. What's the matter, Spirit Dew? Got a bit of a greedy eye for gemstones?
When Rarity entered the salon, she was furious. First, she marched over to the plant that Spirit Dew was hiding behind. Staring him down from above, she made quite a frightening sight. I'll deal with YOU in a moment... Without warning, she spun around and walked straight up to
Pennington. YOU, on the other hoof, I'm going to deal with RIGHT NOW! With those words, she slapped Pennington across the cheek. I just recieved the most HORRID news from Sweetie Belle! You're leaving Ponyville?? Without warning, without goodbyes? What about all of your loyal customers? Ponies that rely on you?

DarkFreeze walked back in after being almost trampled by Spirit and rarity. "Thats What I heard. He also moving his store here, and telling everypony something that seems very irrational." he sighed. "Okay, Rarity. What did Pennington act like before?" he said then leaned in close to wisper in raritys ear. "He's been taken over by discord. What I'm doing now might help get him back. Just follow along."

Spirit Dew looked around frantically. He then saw his only opportunity. He jumped above the plant and flew out the door. Having finally escaped Rarity's grasp he yells down Catch me later Rarity! He shouted as he laughed. He flew up above the salon so that the white unicorn couldn't reach him.

Rarity could hardly believe her ears, but continued her lecture to Pennington, who was slowly sinking down into the bathtub. You know what? I looked forward to getting a poem from you and Sweetie Belle every year to celebrate the Sisterhooves Social... I could just imagine the two of you sitting together behind your big desk. How is she going to do that now?? Is little Pipsqueak going to have to get his mother a generic mother's day card instead of one of your masterpieces? Certainly not from some high-nosed, stiff necked pony who...
From Pennington's point of view, it was like Rarity had stopped lecturing him. As he slipped under the water, his mind floated back to a time right after his first book in the "Lunar Chronicles" series had been printed. As his book soared in popularity, the pen name that he had written down as a joke had become a household name. He was sitting behind his desk, contemplating revealing his identity and moving to Canterlot, just as he was doing now. Without warning, he heard the door slam open, moving so fast that it knocked the bell off of its hook and into his head. As he tried to stand up again, the bell having knocked him off of his stool, he could see little Pipsqueak sitting on top of his desk.
Mr. Pennington! You've got to help me, please! Mother's day is tomorrow and I can't figure out how to write a poem for my mom! I try and try, but I can't get it right....
ugh... Sure, Pipsqueak. What kind of poem were you thinking about? Pennington couldn't help but smile as the small colt's forgetfulness. He had been in the same kind of situation countless times. As the two of them sat behind the desk together, Pennington and Pipsqueak wrote a beautiful poem. It had started as a childish rhyme, but by the time it was finished, Pennington was tearing up, thinking of his own mother.
Thank you SOO much, Pennington, sir! Pipsqueak shouted once they had finished. I'm sure my Mum's going to LOVE it! But... I only have 3 bits... Is it enough?
Pennington was shocked at the offer of money to say the least. Pipsqueak, I only helped you get this on paper. This was all you... How can I charge you for this? Keep your bits, use them to buy your mom some flowers...
As the memory faded and Pennington stepped out of the dying tub, his natural blue hue returned! Or at least it would have, if his hair wasn't already dyed the fiery colors of orange and red that were typical of Scorching Quill.

Its good to have you back, Pennington. said DarkFreeze, smiling. We thought you were a goner. Now we have the team back together. as he said that, he noticed the eyes of Rarity and Pennington on him. What? didnt I tell you two already? they both shook theyre heads. Well, think of it this way: To every light , theres a Dark. Basically, Me, Spirit Dew, Pennington, Dr. Paws and two others are the Dark Versions of the Elements of Harmony, even though we still Protect Equestria

Pennington isn't quite back... Lilly said quietly. I'm afraid that was the permanent dye... If you want to be totally yourself again, you're going to have to wait for your coat to grow back out... and even longer for your mane... She was happy that Pennington was back to being himself, though. I'm sorry, Pennington, but that was what you asked for...
Lily, you did exactly what anypony would do. Your best. He walked up to her and gave her a hug. It wasn't your fault I was being an idiot. I just hope everypony back in Ponyville can forgive me...
Well, I know I already have... Lily returned the hug, ignoring the fact that some of the dye might still be drying. The moment was truly worth seeing, one of those tiny miracles that only come from true friendship. For just a moment, Lily felt different, though. Like there was more than simply friendship. Her natural shyness suppressed it, but she didn't just want to hug Pennington, she wanted more... She almost imperceptibly nuzzled Pennington's ear, smiling as she realized that she felt safer with the real him..
Wait, DARK elements of harmony?? Pennington let go of Lily when Dark Freeze spoke up. He could feel her hang on for just a millisecond, but dismissed it in light of the more important news. So... What? There are really two sets?

Spirit Dew, still flying high above the ground, noticed the change in Pennington's coat. Oh hey, you're back to color now? Fine by me! he says, getting closer to the ground. Rarity, don't come after me, but I wanna know about these dark elements of harmony. So I'm an element bearer? he said as his eyes glistened and as he flew into the air. Whoo hoo! That is so awesome! He finished as he squealed like Rainbow Dash.

((I'm gonna write Pennington in red now to remember his new coat color.))I never heard of there being two sets of the elements of harmony. Especially not identical ones... He looked over at Rarity. I mean, if that was true, the generosity in here would be doubled!
Rarity, on the other hand, was really surprised. She had recognized the fact that Pennington was getting his coat dyed (A horrible idea, considering his beautiful shade of night blue), but when he had stepped out, he looked exactly like Scorching Quill! The pony she had seen in the back of many of her favorite books. Her jaw was hanging low, and her lecture had come to an abrupt stop. Wait, wait, wait, wait... YOU'RE Scorching Quill? Oh my goodness. Now that I look back, it would have made sense all along, but still! Who would have thought that the elusive Scorching Quill was living in Ponyville the entire time! Why, if the presses knew who you really were...
Then Pennington would never get a spare moment of peace! He would never be left alone, and he would definitely never have time to help any of the ponies you just mentioned! Callalily stepped forward, speaking up a bit. Very few ponies know this secret, Rarity, and from one friend in fashion to another, I would like it if you promised to keep it that way.
But of course! Cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye... Rarity turned back to Pennington. You can bet your secret is safe with me... But what are you going to do when you get back to Ponyville, Pennington? You can't show up looking like that and act like nothing happened...
Pennington nodded his agreement as he tapped his hoof against his head. I guess Pennington is going to have to be sick for a while... and his close friend, Scorching Quill, is going to take over his business until he gets better! I can still work, and my secret is safe... But I think that the most important matter is getting to the other elements before Discord does...

Oh! Oh! Hey! Which element am I? Spirit Dew said, holding his front hooves together and grinning.
Meanwhile, Discord and Eon Soul looked into the salon form a dark cloud above and witnessed Pennington back to his usual self. Eon Soul looked at Discord in disappointment. Yeah... you got rid of these threats to our plans alright... Eon said, sounding slightly annoyed.
Fine, so it didn't work this time. We'll go get the princesses then. Discord sighed, as the dark cloud they were on began to float away. Discord then said in a deep, powerful voice. If that is what you wish.

Pennington looked over at Spirit Dew and laughed. Well, you could be the element of pain... Because Rarity's right behind you! Pennington burst into laughter as Rarity pounced. She did warn you that she would deal with you after me...
Lily knew that Pennington's skull was thick, and that she needed to do something drastic if she was going to make him understand how she felt... Well, this moment when everyone was distracted by Rarity and Spirit Dew. She moved a bit closer to Pennington, brushing against his side. You know, Pennington, I'm really glad you're back... Probably more happy than most... She moved her head so that their horns "accidentally" touched. I kinda realized just how much I enjoy your visits... and you...
Pennington's eyes grew wide. Lily, are you saying what I think you're saying?
Well, it really depends on what you think I'm thinking... She gave him a shy-yet-coy smile, allowing their horns to touch again.
Well, I was really getting a distinct impression... That you were insinuating that our relationship is more than just platonic... For the first time, Pennington began to notice just how cute Lily was.
Lily couldn't help but chuckle. Pennington could be the author of a list of words few ponies used very often. She nuzzled his cheek a little, causing him to blush hard and stiffen a little. That is exactly what I'm insinuating... Now that it was out, Callalily was feeling a lot better about showing her affection.

Spirit Dew looked over at Pennington. No, I think it would have something to do with my cutie mark. he said as he pointed to his cutie mark. Shortly after doing this, he Rarity in mid-air, about to take him down.
AAAAAAHHH!!! cried Spirit Dew as Rarity tackled him. The two began fighting and throwing hoof punches, each being dealt some damage. This fight, ending in a stalemate, as both ponies laid on the ground, slightly dazed.

Pennington didn't really process what was going on in his mind as much as in his... chest. It was a swelling sensation, as if his heart were expanding with this new emotion. His head was swimming, as if he were about to pass out, but he felt perfectly fine... Lily, I would really LOVE to talk about this later... But I think that Dark Freeze may be right. We should try to find the other dark elements... He contradicted himself, though, refusing to move any direction other than closer to her, which was a feat in itself.
Lily could hardly believe it. It looks like Pennington really likes me, too... You're probably right... Don't let me stand in your way! You go get Discord. We can talk when you get back... She painfully stepped away, trying not to show her disappointment. If there was one good quality Pennington lacked, it was self-discipline. She knew that she was going to have to be the one to keep things in check so that he could focus.

Discord and Eon Soul were directly above Canterlot Castle. Discord used his teleporting powers to appear in Princess Celestia's room. Ahh, so familiar. Sorry Celestia, but were back and we have to put you out. A pity however. Discord said, not actually talking to Celestia.
After Discord finished prepping his speech to Celestia, he decided to start controlling everything in her room. From the fireplace's logs becoming ice to making mirrors look like mirrors from a funhouse, Discord made sure to seem like he was there.
Eon Soul looked around Celestia's bedroom and took note of some of the minor things in her room. He looked at the bed, the fireplace, the scrolls, and even the smaller things that she uses. Eon was very quiet at this time, not even saying a word.
