the anime destroyed my feelings and left me to die. ;^;
it was a little confusing sometimes, with some parts switched and others just totally cut out. but i can see how it was more geared towards fans who already played the game. i loved how emotionally impacting certain scenes were, since it couldn't be done so well with a cell-shaded video game. also DAT ANIMATION. wow. i honestly have never seen such crisp animation and beautiful colours in an anime. just gorgeous. *3*
ALSO MITHOS' DEATH!? CAN WE NEVER TALK ABOUT THAT AGAIN BECAUSE IT JUST RIPPED MY HEART IN TWO AAAAAHHHH

ahhh that fight scene was super cool! zelos` attack was amazing! *3* when kratos hugged lloyd i actually cried. it was like lloyd was a child again. sobbu. yes, i know what you mean about anna. she`s one of my favourites... i was hoping for at least a flashback. ;^; the end was really quite rushed... but the way mithos glanced at genis right before he died... ... ...ack.

While I've heard complaints from some people about the voice actors, I think they were well chosen and played their part well. Also, I totally fell in love with the music, especially considering it got me into Akiko Shikata, whose music I absolutely adore now, she's an amazing artist.
I also felt like the scene involving Mithos' death was rushed. But at the same time it was well thought out. Thinking on it, Mithos easily could have followed up on his attack, even as he turned to look at Genis. I mean, come on, he was trained by Kratos, for crying out loud. He could have still parried, but he deliberately paused and let Lloyd stab him. While I've never been a big fan of Mithos, I never hated him, either, and I found his death, in both versions to be incredibly sad and, like in Lloyd's opinion, unnecessary.
And of course, we cannot ignore the hug. OMG THE HUG!!! Fans everywhere rejoice! Kratos finally hugged his son!! I found myself cheering at that scene, it was so touching, and it was well overdue.
Of course, when Kratos and Lloyd fight at the end there, the anime version gives you a real vision of just how much Kratos held back in his previous fights with Lloyd. I mean, he moved so fast and fought with such skill, it became blindingly obvious that he held back to avoid killing his son while Lloyd was not strong enough to fight him.
I really loved how they brought more of the past into the OVA, showing off scenes about the journey that started everything. Martel was simply gorgeous. However, I was slightly disappointed by the fact that the Spirit of Mana took on the form of Tabitha instead of the reborn Martel like in the game. Apart from that, I have little to complain about the way they did things. I do wish they could have drawn the series out a bit more, though. And honestly, they could have devoted more time to designing Anna and actually showing her whole face. >.<

I liked the art style as well. I think the manga got me more teary-eyed than the anime and the game.
