"Why is it that I attract all the crazies," Orin muttered under his breath as he checked the time again. "Listen, Loreno, uh, I have to swing by the Bookstore to pick up a few things," he said, already walking in the direction of the short store. "You're free to join me if you want. Hell, I could use the company." As he walked down the concrete path adorned with small patches of shrubbery here and there, he kept his nose slightly more elevated than usual. This, of course, earned him several odd looks from passersby, but he didn't care. Until, of course, he stumbled over a crack in the concrete and nearly fell. He played it off quite well, in his opinion, but made sure to lower his gaze so he wouldn't do it again.

Loreno only smirked when Niro mentioned what would happen if Orin came to harm.
"You needn't worry, Niro...I'm very good at what I do. He'll be fine."
From here, he allowed Orin a bit of a head start, and then followed him from a short distance away. It was just enough distance to make it seem like they were merely heading to the same place without being suspicious. Of course, he also monitered the thoughts of everyone else as they walked, just to possibly pick out anyone who might mean harm to Orin....though mainly, the two reactions that he found in terms of either of them were how odd Orin looked walking with his nose turned up, or else discomfort upon seeing him...the second of which was normal. Most seemed to think he was part of an Anime Club or something like that. He shook his head slightly when he saw Orin stumble...at least he managed to catch himself before falling flat on his face. He was relieved to see Orin then focus a bit more on where he was walking as opposed to keeping his nose up...presumably to find the scent from his own note. If said scent showed itself, Loreno was pretty sure Orin would catch it, regardless of where his nose was positioned.

So it happened like this: Orin, upon entering the bookstore, headed straight to the rack that had scantrons hanging from it. He took one, turned to walk to the registers, then turned back and got another. Why not take another pack to class and make a healthy profit off of those who came to class unprepared? Anyway, he payed the low, low price of $3.19 for the scantrons and left the building.
Orin walked right up to Loreno, "my brother was killed by a telepath. The b*****d made him cut his own throat in front of me," he made a cutting gesture with the scantron and his neck. "Then the jackass had the gall to gloat in my mind. I was so angry, so afraid that he'd take control of my mind, that I guess I just created these mental blocks. They've been up lately because somehow he was able to track me here." He paused a moment to breathe. "Great, now that I've told you, I'll have to-" The scent from the note, he smelled it.
Grabbing Loreno's wrist casually, he said, "this way," then casually took off running over the casually green grass. While casually running, he felt that he couldn't raise his leg to take a casual step, so he looked down and casually noticed that his shoelaces were untied. He casually fell, letting go of Loreno's arm, and casually slid across the grass, somehow casually flipping himself over so that he was on his back. When he came to a stop, which was casual, of course, he casually pointed at a cluster of students and declared, "the writer of your note is in there." He tried to keep his voice as casual as possible.

Loreno simply went and leaned against the wall of the bookstore, careful to do such in a way that wouldn't make his sword readily obvious. It would only cause issues and cause people to freak out if they saw it....issues he could likely deal with, but would rather not anyway. He would glare at any who strayed to close to him, which would in turn cause these people to both back further away from him and move along faster at the same time. Just as he was beginning to wonder how long Orin was going to take, he walked right up to him and began explaining bits of his past. This caused Loreno to frown a bit, adding to his already fairly intimidating profile. A telepath? Lovely. At least his own mental powers should, in theory, help him out in protecting his own mind should this telepath try and take him over. Whether this was truly the case....well. He would see, should this man appear. Which is when Orin would notice the scent from the note...and then proceeded to get dragged in a direction before orin ended up tripping over his untied shoelace. Loreno sighed...that's why he wore boots...the laces hardly ended up untied, and even if they did, they weren't quite long enough to trip over. He nodded once when Orin explained, and proceeded to attempt to scan the thoughts of the student cluster...and frowned again. The thoughts he could read weren't out of the ordinary at all...so either the writer was guarding his own mind by projecting similar thoughts to those around him, or simply had forgotten...or perhaps something else altogether. No matter...there was a simple way to handle this. He proceeded to approach the cluster, counting on his intimidation factor to seperate the regular students from the note's author...
[OOC: if either of you guys happen to have something you'd like to do for the author of the note...say, to advance the plotline more quickly...you can go ahead, I don't mind. otherwise I can go ahead and do what I had in mind...which might be kinda lame, but eh...anyway, if you have something you'd like to do, just take control of him/her/it.]

((I'm actually enjoying the current speed. No stress.))
"I'm fine, really! You don't have to help me up" Orin called after Loreno while he sat up. A long, green grass stain stretched from about three inches under his shirt collar, down to about where his knees where. He didn't want to see the grass stain that probably encompassed his rear end. Standing, he made sure his scantrons weren't bent, and inhaled through his nose.
Gunpowder.
Orin whipped his head in the direction of the smell, and thought, with an ironic smirk on his face, of course. It wouldn't be this easy. "Loreno!" He called out and, using the speed and grace of a cheetah, caught up with the man. "I know you said that people with guns can't hit you, but they can hit everyone else," he whispered, "there's a gun in that crowd. I don't know who has it or why, but the danger is there, nonetheless. Please be careful."

[All right then. Just thought I'd toss the option out, should anyone be interested...interestingly, the gun kinda fits in with what I had in mind....a little.]
Loreno paused a second when Orin called his name, as he looked over his left shoulder towards him slightly. He then nodded upon hearing the explanation before speaking.
"Likely the author has the gun, is my expectation...that or an assistant of some sort to the author. I figured a trap as being just as likely a possibility as a job. Stay on your toes...not sure how this is gonna end up going, or why they would want to choose a school campus to cause a ruckus, if that is their goal."
Loreno kept himself in a slightly tense state from here on out....best be prepared for trouble, just in case. He then continued approaching the crowd, scanning the minds of everyone as he passed them...most seemed uneasy, but one...one had some odd intentions. It gave him a vibe that, indeed, this was a trap. Out of seemingly nowhere, he would pivot on his heels, becoming nothing more than a black blur of motion as he grasped at one boy's hand...which was heading for the left side of his belt as it was. The boy panicked, freezing as Loreno then quietly spoke to him.
"I've got questions for you now...and unless you want me to reveal what I believe you to be in posession of...you'll come quietly. No lying either....I'll know."
The sweat would be quite visible on this boy's forehead as Loreno then sensed another thought's presence....full of malice and ill intent towards him. He then tossed the boy to the side towards Orin, hoping that he would know what to do as he became a blur again, right in time to dodge a kick from a figure with a brown trenchcoat that seemed to appear from thin air. Orin would notice that the smell from the note is coming from this figure, and not the holder of the gun...who was clearly the boy Loreno had tossed towards him. At this point, most students were either backing away slowly or simply frozen in stunned silence...like this wasn't real. The figure in brown actually didn't flinch when Loreno glared at him upon stopping nearby, which was unusual.
"...and you would be...?"
The figure in brown would chuckle a bit before shaking his head.
"...you're too on guard, I see. It's clear that this won't work as I planned...as for me? Just know I want you dead...killing my younger brother was a bad move on your part...."
Loreno then scowled and lunged, becoming a blur once again....but the man vanished from view once again, the scent also disappearing not even a moment later. Loreno ended up growling a bit in frustration...the thoughts were now out of his range. Could this guy teleport and become invisible...or something? It was clear he held a vendetta against Loreno...though for what reasons he was as of yet uncertain. It was clear though....Loreno would need to be on his guard. He shot the viewers a glare that pretty much made them walk away and want to forget the whole incident as he walked away. This guy would likely be watching and waiting for the perfect moment to strike. He shook his head as he walked back towards Orin and the boy with the gun. He spoke to Orin, though he also made a point to the boy with the gun by placing his foot squarely between his shoulders and digging his heel in.
"...it appears that gunboy here was merely a pawn. Probably doesn't even know what that guy wants...honestly, I couldn't tell much other than he has a vendetta against me...thoughts?"

"Other than the obvious 'I'm going to be late for my exam' and 'oh god, oh god, it looks like I shat myself'?" Orin said with a broad grin. While Loreno investigated the cluster of people, he was busy coming up with a fitting description of his current state of dress. "Seriously, though? Mr. Author did say something about you killing his brother. Oh, and his scent went kaput when he disappeared." he motioned towards the guy on the ground, "Gun Boy here wet himself. Have you ever smelled human pee through the nose of a gray wolf? Not pleasant at all. Anyway, can't you use your psychic powers and dig through his mind? You'll probably be drowned in images of naked girls, but it's worth a shot."
Orin decided to screw the test; his professor dropped the lowest grade, and he figured he was going to fail anyway. Why not follow Loreno around and get to the bottom of the mystery?

Loreno supressed a sigh and the urge to roll his eyes. He wasn't really the joke-y type of person...never has been to his memory. What little of it was there, anyhow. He nodded slightly when Orin mentioned the scent disappeared...that didn't really surprise him.
"I thought it might. His thoughts also vanished...as for digging in his brain, I could easily do such...and I could make it quite painful, if I so wished. Sorry about the smell though...I tend to get that reaction when I directly confront people."
The last bit he said in a lower tone as he gave a slight shove for emphasis to the kid he had pinned. Said kid whimpered, and Loreno could tell that he was scared witless without needing to read his thoughts...which were coincidentally, "Oh god, oh god, don't kill me..." Loreno then lifted his foot off the kid, nudged him with his boot hard enough to force him to end up on his back instead of his belly, and then had it to where he was grasping the kid's shirt collar and holding him off the ground by about an inch. This entire movement was fast enough he once more looked like nothing than a blur...if Orin had blinked, he probably would have missed most of the movements.
"You...you're coming with us, boy. And don't even -think- about pulling out your little toy. There are questions I want answered....and I -will- find the truth out, one way or another."
On the words "think" and "will," Loreno would give him a little shake, causing more whimpering and fear. If the kid hadn't already emptied his bladder, he probably would have at this point in time. Once he was done talking, he'd motion with his head for Orin to follow, if he so chose, as he then proceeded to drag the scared kid away...by the shirt collar still, no less. It was clear Loreno was headed to a less crowded location.

Orin decided to tag along, scantrons in hand, with Loreno and the Gun Boy. "So, what're we gonna do first? Threaten his fingers and toes? Castrate him? I could get some knives if you don't have any. Wait, are we going to tie 'im up with a rope or tape? Rope seems a bit too... S and M for my tastes, but tape'll remove hair. Or we could chain him to the wall, but I don't have any chains, do you?"

"We do have pie if it helps!" Niro had appeared seemingly out of nowhere, with a stack of many different flavours of pies. "I didn't know which ones you liked best, so I got them all. Better safe then sorry ya see. I didn't know we were having company, why didn't you tell me?" Niro chuckled, looking quite pleased with this turn of events. "Knives would have been useful, I don't have anything to cut them with." He was trotting along side Orin with the pies. "I see you found what you were looking for, though I suspect it was not what he expected. I also see you skipped out on your test, it was rather boring and took me all of five minutes to fill it out. Give or take, time stops are hard to judge. Bet you never noticed either of them when they occurred." He was almost freaky how Niro could turn from overly cheerful and happy to serious.

Loreno did not reply to Orin during his questions about what was going to happen. He was glad to notice that going for the gun wasn't even a consideration of the kid he was dragging at the moment, though. Saves him the trouble of cleaning up a mess. Once Orin finally finished, he replied in a rather short and straight to the point way.
"You'll see."
Which would be when Niro reappeared...with an armload of pies. Loreno raised an eyebrow, but said nothing...he seemed fairly random with his actions so far. At least he -could- be serious when he wanted to, it seemed. Loreno simply smirked.
"To be honest...I was halfway expecting a trap in the first place. At least I have the good fortune to have an accomplice I can question..."
After another moment of walking, he would have dragged the kid to a fairly unoccupied area of the campus...immediately, Loreno would slam the gun toting kid into the nearest wall and look him directly in the eyes...just glaring for a few seconds before beginning to speak...his tone low, and quite dangerous.
"...tell me. Who hired you, and why? What was your purpose in this whole event?"
All the kid did was whimper in fear before muttering something even Loreno couldn't understand. This caused Loreno to slam him into the wall again.
"Louder! I can't hear you!"
The kid let out a small yelp and managed to stutter out some words in an unusually high pitched voice for a male.
"I...I don't kn-know who p-p-paid me...just that h-he wanted me to sh-shoot a guy dressed in b-b-black. Even p-provided the gun..."
Loreno, still glaring, then proceeded to rifle through the kid's thoughts...seems he wasn't lying. Loreno then, for good measure, caused his mind to overpower the kid's, causing him to have a sudden, splitting headache. The kid winced with the pain as Loreno slammed him into the wall one last time before letting go, letting the kid slide down to the ground, who quickly entered a fetal position. Loreno then went ahead and grabbed the gun, turning the safety on so it wouldn't misfire and proceeding to toss it towards Orin. He was certain he'd be able to make better use of it than him. He wasn't so worried about Niro, who could control time...kinda hard to beat a guy like that in the first place, with or without weaponry. He then turned on his heel and walked away from the scared kid. Loreno didn't doubt he may have scarred him for life...but the kid should be thankful he even -had- his life still. He looked to Orin and Niro before speaking.
"...it seems he was an unknowing pawn for whoever wrote my note. He truthfully doesn't really know much other than he was hired to shoot me."
His stomach would then growl at him, though he ignored this for the moment. There would be time for food later...right now, he was trying to figure out what his next move was going to be. He sighed before looking to Orin.
"...thank you for the assistance, by the way. I am unsure of what you want to do with gunboy over there...but whatever you feel best would work. Could easily turn him in, if you desired.

"I have a suggestion." Niro looked at Loreno over the pies. "Before you ask its nothing to do with having a picnic, at least, not yet." He grinned. "Let me time stop again, turn it back to when the kid was going to get paid. I can change it so he never gets involved. Time gets a little edited but as long as you both grab a sleeve, your memories of these events cannot be changed. Then I'll take us back here and we can sample these pies. No harm, no foul. Simple huh?" Niro knew he'd be pushing his powers to their limits, but it sounded like a good challenge. "Actually you could still write your test too Orin."

Orin sighed, "no, no, don't worry about my test. I was gonna fail it anyway. But I do think you should go back and make sure this poor guy never met Trenchcoat. Or Loreno for that matter. Look at 'im! His mind's probably broken." He went to help the poor guy up, but stopped, taking a step back, his face wrinkled in disgust. "He doesn't have to use the restroom for a long time, guys." While waving his hand in front of his nose, he tried to come up with a good torrent of puns. "Loreno, I must say, you did a crappy job at keeping him calm. I know he was an a** to accept a job to shoot you, and all, but until we can go back in time, he'll have a shitty life. Whatever happened to turning the other cheek? And I'm done now. Let's time travel," he finished, slipping his arm around Niro's.

Loreno merely grunted at Niro's idea. Was a neutral grunt too,so it was hard to tell what he really thought of the idea. He simply shook his head at Orin, though.
"...you act like I care how he ended up. I'm not that forgiving a person, either...he's lucky to be alive as it is."
He simply shrugged, ignoring the puns that ended up being used and grabbed onto Niro's other sleeve to make sure he wasn't left out of the time bending madness....he wondered what the sensation would be like. Was this gonna be like falling, or simply a walk in a park?

(((I just noticed something! Orin is Niro spelled backwards, Niro is Orin spelled backward. How in all land did we manage that one?))
"Orin, hold the pies please and thank you." Poor Orin was left to hold the scantrons and pies. Meanwhile, Niro carefully extracted the white gold pocket watch. "Alright, ready?" He with the toe of his shoe flicked the kid's hand on top of his shoe. "Now we time stop!" Niro pushed up the winder and time stopped; nothing moved, there was no sound or scents. "Now for the magic." He turned the winder counter-clockwise and the hands of the watch turned to about 8:34am. While he was doing this, the world looked like it was rewind, then back on pause when he stopped. "Lovely. This will do. Orin don't lose those pies."
He pocketed the watch very carefully. If the winder became depressed time would advance forward. "Now. We have one sight problem, two if you count Loreno." Niro turned serious, deadly serious. "The four of us are the only things unaffected by this time stop, in theory at least. With a time stop in place, I am defenseless. Once we find where he was, approximately five minutes before he becomes a Merc. We will not be sticking around long enough to meet he that bought out this kid. So don't try and make me, I got into enough trouble from the other Oracles for editing time for my own gain."
He looked around. "Anyone know where the kid happened to be... Actually never mind, I have a better idea." He undid his tie. "I am really sorry about this kid, its really for your own good. You will thank us later... Well maybe not." With a quick loop around the kid's neck, he actually knocked out the kid by suffocation. "Problem solved... Now where to put him... Aha! No wandering off you two." Niro dragged the kid down to the janitors closet, opened up a few chemicals that would have allowed him to get high if sniffed and closed the door, leaving it open for ventilation.
Niro returned a few minutes later fixing his tie. "Well there problem solved, he was busy getting high off chemical cleaners in the janitors closet. He dreamed it all up, and the marks left by Lereno were from his fall in the closet. As to why he wet himself, that can be left to his mind to figure out, probably the nightmare he had. Give him 15 minutes and he'll be off to change his pants." Niro grinned, that had been tricky but, enjoyable. "So, how about some pie when we return home? Can't let you stay here, too much of a risk of your self seeing yourself. That is a little... Messy." He was already digging for the watch, thinking about changing the time to something more acceptable, like dinnertime.
