Zerah März
------------------------------------
The anthroparion had been involved in his book as he followed Demon to where ever she was going. When she came to a stop, or rather scrambled up a trailer, Zerah took it as a sign to stop. Well that and also when he met the trailer. Destination reached, the construct readjusted himself against the closest corner and began reading...or at least trying to. Apparently the fact that Demon had gone to Felix was a little amusing to the clown, who for some reason, always felt some type of understone whenever Felix spoke to the other clown. Of course this was probably nothing, aside from his love of a good romance novel...but very few people knew that, hell even Demon didn't know that side.

Sure she might know he has some rather "adult" books, but she thankfully doesn't know about the other books, and that thought alone was enough to issue a chuckle from the statue. A little while later, along with several page turns, the little girl known as demon came down from the trailer and tugged on his arm before sprinting off...probably to Samara's tent from what he could hear of their conversation. Which of course meant, that he should probably follow and make sure nothing happens to the girl or perhaps the boy if did plan on helping.

After quickly ducking into a side alley, März came to a stop in front of Samara's tent just in time to see Demon doing the same. "...If it's not controlled and probably unsupervised than yes, but I'm sure your lucky lad knows what he's doing." While they both pondered the chance of lighting half the circus on fire...or maybe it was just Zerah since he's just that sort of person, Felix came up to them with a big box of fireworks. This was going to be just super...if Samara found out about it. Sarcasm aside, that was the real reason behind Zerah being involved in it. Protecting them or Demon from some special knife thrower.
Despite his misgiving about the little girl that was the knife thrower, the antrhoparion waited patiently for Demon's next statement.

"Do you want to know all my secrets?"

Before Gina could react to his question, his named was called by none other than his sister. As for the hair issue, she planned on keeping it like it was. It was short enough to fall into interesting positions without really getting in the way. The corners of her mouth curled up slightly as Philippe started walking slowly: the boy just looked a bit funny.

Her eyes soon shifted to look at Esme in her outfit before resting on the Boa. Then she looked back at the dove for a moment. Before any type of thought crossed her mind, Esme started speaking to the boy. It didn't seem like she could get a word in edgewise; so she just watched and listened. Gina smiled at the compliment before responding in her normal soft tone. "Philippe picked it out for me."

After that was said, she got whatever she needed and walked over just to stop next to the boy that was now holding the snake. "Thank you," she almost whispered when she turned to look at the tall teenager. "Well, I must be going. My act starts soon." With that said; she walked out of her tent and left the two to do whatever it was they were going to do.

Soon she arrived at the big top. Gina was going to be the first to perform; but it seems someone was already there waiting their turn: Fiona. She merely gave the girl a quick smile as a greeting before going on her way. The redhead was cutting it close this time. She had to make sure everything was ready before her act was announced and she had to go on stage. The redhead climbed to the top as a voice bellowed out to start the show. When she got into position, she closed her eyes and took a couple deep breaths as she pictured the entirety of her act play out on the back of her eyelids.

Emerald orbs snapped open when the introduction for her act began. As soon as the booming voice finished, the music kicked in. Originally she wanted to change it a bit; but she didn't have time for that. It didn't matter though. After all, this was more of a test run. Gina leapt from where she was and let gravity take over. It almost looked like she was about to dive into a pool. You could hear the crowd gasping already; after all, she was freefalling toward the ground.

It didn't last long though. The silk seemed to flow like water as it caught her safely in midair. Light blue fabric wrapped itself around her for a moment. Then the true dance began. Slowly, but surely, she freed herself from most of the silk. Using her own human abilities, she moved her body in an elegant manner. Every moment revealed simple yet beautiful lines. Sometimes her hair would hang a bit in her in her face and the silk would move a bit on its own. It didn't hurt to use her powers a bit to give a bit more show; although it was a bit more tiring. After all, she was using every part of her body and mind for this act: especially since it was done in slow motion.

Towards the end of her act, Gina started to cool certain parts of the silk. She picked areas that she didn't have to use at the moment so that it would be easier. Not to mention the fact that it would be even harder for the audience to notice any type of change. When she was ready, she twirled around slow while moving that particular part of the silk. At this point she started warming the silk so that little ice crystals would fling off of it as she moved. This was the extra bit of sparkle to her performance. Then she let herself break away from the silk and flipped gracefully to the ground right in time with the music.

With that, her act was over. There was a moment of silence before the crowd cheered. A smile slipped onto her face as she bowed and waved toward the audience. Then she made her way backstage and let out a soft sigh. The new addition was a success; but the act was the extremely tiring for her. All she wanted to do was go rest. Unfortunately, she had a few things to do before she could do that: kind of like the post-act clean up.

((Sorry it's lame. I want to make it cooler but I'm too tired and just decided to let the other acts go.))

"I will tell you..."

"if you are willing to play"

"...and happen to surprise me."

The time was drawing near. She could feel it deep in her core, something strong stirring inside of her. It seemed that this always happened when her act was coming close.

Anastasia was dressed and seated in front of one of the mirrors, fixing her long dark hair. She was curling it tonight, but only loosely. It was quite a task to complete, but she had become used to it.

Once her hair had become little ringlets, framing her small face, she stuck a little red flower in her hair. Perfect she smiled brightly at her own reflection, before standing up from her seat and slipping out of the tent. She had a friend to visit.

It had become a custom for the little dancer to visit her favorite person in the entire circus. She carefully, but quickly made her way to Leopold's tent, only being careful to keep her dress intact. Since Leopold's at was near the beginning, she couldn't stay long.

After a few moments of bobbing and weaving through the incoming crowd, the petite girl had made her way to her destination and knocked lightly on the entrance, silently hoping someone would answer.

J'espère que Leo n'est pas en colère contre moi.. Anastasia's mind fluttered silently, hoping the big cat had forgiven her for earlier. For when she was in her dizzy state of mind, she felt something large nuzzle against her leg, but noticed only too late what it was. It was very unlike her to ignore the old lion, however it was pretty routine for Anastasia to space out like that.

With a sigh, the girl drifted more into her thoughts. "Plus tard, peut-être je vais voir Esme." she mumbled quietly. The snake charmer was one of the few people the dancer had much in common with, besides the silk dancer, Gina and maybe Leopold and his love of large felines.

Mostly, she talked to Esme for the fact that they both spoke French and Anastasia couldn't really communicate with anyone else very well. She'd probably stop by later.

As she shuffled her feet a little, becoming bored, she knocked on the door again, this time a bit firmer. It was likely that no one had heard her the first time. The dancer could vaguely hear the patter of four paws near the door, sounding as if they were pacing.

A part of her, at that very moment, wished that cats had opposable thumbs.

But, of course, that would be stupid to imagine.

"...dance, dance smile, to wash those sad feelings away..."
"...i'll just smile, laugh, smile, cus i don't understand them anyway..."

Note!
J'espère que Leo n'est pas en colère contre moi .. - I hope that Leo is not angry against me..
Plus tard, peut-être je vais voir Esme - Later, maybe I'll see Esme.

------------------------------------------- The Fante Siblings

The suspicious look didn't budge from Esme's face. It stayed there, smug as djinn, while Gina bid adieu to the teen and left the tent. As the dancer disappeared from view it seemed to grow even more... well, suspicious. More knowing. Esme had a high forehead, and one of her finely-arched eyebrows was slowly sliding up towards her hairline. Her brother watched it with a growing sense of unease.

He found he was forming a relationship with the look on his sister's face. It was the kind of relationship you form with someone who's just caught you trying to pop a zit in the bathroom. After a minute he coughed.

"It's... um..."

"Mm-hmm."

Esme's expression folded its arms. Philippe groaned. The boa, Sima, was winding its way leisurely around his shoulders. All she added was, "Erzulie is a busy spirit." Then: "Come. We have to get started."

As they made their way through the crowd (Esme striding gracefully and Philippe, a few feet behind her and sagging under the weight of Sima) several small children squeaked and darted out of the way.

Sima by now had wrapped his body around the boy's torso and was watching him with interest. When they made it back to Esme's tent, Philippe swallowed and said, "He's not going to, er, bite me or anything, is he?"

"Mais non. He is not poisonous."

He relaxed. "That's good."

"Boas don't bite. They kill by crushing their prey to death."

Philippe looked down. The snake had slipped a second coil around his waist. "Oh," he said in a strained voice. "Er. Really?"

"Oui, really. Now stop fooling around and get your costume on. I cannot perform with my assistant in jeans."

Back in Gina's tent the dove was calmly appreciating the fact that it was still alive. After some reflection, it fluttered gently over to Gina's closet and began pecking at the sequins on one of her costumes.

Leopold Sidorov

Leopold was putting the final touches on his costume when a knock came at the door. The cats immediately reacted to the noise, with Arrow and Fletcher immediately padding to the door and growling quietly, Bobo hiding, and Lynx, Kitty, Sasha and Leo just staying where they were. In fact, Leopold could have sworn that he could hear the big lion snoring.
Smiling quietly to himself the tamer struggled into his second set of trousers – his act required a two – layer costume; hard to get into, but well worth the effort in the long run.
He had to have several copies of the over costume as well, they always got torn off somewhere in the show. The when, where and how of the matter always changed though, the Russian acted by feel, not routine.
By the time he was decent whoever was at the door had knocked again, and this time Sasha yowled at the man. “Yes, yes...” He muttered, before staggering over to the door, weaving through cats and debris to get to the heavy portal. Leopold’s residence was probably one of the few places in the entire place that actually had a door. It was needed.

Leopold opened the door cautiously at first, but when he discovered who it was he flung the portal wide, welcoming the green – haired silk dancer with a grin. “Preeyawm*; ahh... Hello.” He said, stepping out of the shadows and revealing himself, and his gaudy nightmare of a costume to the dancer.

It was bright red with purple sequined stripes; a matching one piece suit with a red cape that flared out behind. On the table behind him was his top hat and whip, each decorated to match the horrific costume that was actually designed by the lion tamer himself.
Not to worry; the clothes underneath were much, much more stylish.

“I wondered if you’d come.” He said quietly, moving back into the room as The cats approached. Sasha welcomed the newcomer with a twitch of her whiskers and a sneeze, more than what the other cats gave her, which was the best – case scenario. Arrow used to take a swipe at her every time she came in the place like he did to everyone else, but Leo had quickly trained the tiger out of it. “Leo is ower there.” He said quietly, miss – pronouncing his ‘v’’s as ‘w’’s as usual.
He had no doubts as to who the dancer had really come to see, and it wasn’t him.

* "Welcome" - Leopold speaks in Russian, which has a different alphabet. This is phonetic Russian.

As the door opened, the dancer snapped away from her thoughts and gave Leopold her usual bright and cheery smile, as she scurried past the man into his tent. "Hallo Leopol, a'gain! An' Sah`sha an' everre'on." she spilled out, greeting both he and the cats roaming around the tent.

Once Leopold had pointed out to where the Lion was, Anastasia quickly shuffled her way over towards the old cat. Leo, looking tired, sat up lazily to great her. The little dancer knelt down next to him and wrapped her little arms around his large neck, nuzzling her face into his mane. "Je suis désolé Leo. Je n'ai pas délibérément vous ignorez." she mumbled softly in his hair.

As if accepting the apology, Leo made a soft purr-like-grunt. Anastasia pulled back, smiling, and scratched the feline's large ears. After a moment, Leo laid back down, leaning his big head on Anastasia's lap. The girl sighed and looked down at him with a soft smile as she gently stroked his mane.

After a moment, the green-eyed dancer looked around the tent curiously. Since their act was coming up soon, Leopold was preparing himself, as were the prized cats. Sasha was over near him, while the others were roaming around or resting and observing. Anastasia caught Arrow glaring at her and raised an eyebrow. Arrow didn't like her much, but he had stopped trying to attack her after Leo had gave him a little 'talking to'.

Looking back to Leo, who was still resting quietly on her lap, she bit her lip. "H-He iz seeming tired mor' often." she spoke, staring down at the lion, before looking up at the lion tamer. "Is.. is not good? Is..bad?" her words seemed jumbled. She wasn't really sure of what she was trying to say.

"H-He iz ok, oui?" Anastasia looked up at Leopold with big eyes. Leo was her one concern in the circus. He was her last bit of family that she knew of. And though Leo was getting very old, there was a naive part in the dancer's mind that thought he'd live forever.

But there was a rational pang in her heart that said he probably wouldn't.

"...dance, dance smile, to wash those sad feelings away..."
"...i'll just smile, laugh, smile, cus i don't understand them anyway..."

Zerah seemed doubtful that the two of them could control a blaze if it broke out- which meant the trickster would have to get Felix to agree with her reckless plan. Well- she'd made it this far, right?

As if on cue, the pyrotechnician appeared, a box of explosives in his arms. The young woman didn't raise her mask as she knelt down with him over the fireworks, but a smile was evident in her voice as she responded to him, "Will do." Felix then went on to explain in detail what each explosive did, and how they would be used. She thought briefly about pocketing a few of the smoke bombs in case an emergency escape would be necessary, but she wasn't sure how much good that would do when running from Samara- and anyway, that took all the fun out of it.

As he finished, he looked up at her with a silly smile, and warned her not to catch any of the tents on fire. The impish smile on her porcelain face turned briefly toward Samara's tent, and then back to Felix- a simple gesture that made her intention perfectly clear, "I want to blow up her tent- just hers. Do you think you can do that?"

Of course he could- but would he? Deciding that she wouldn't leave room for argument this time, she stepped over to him and pointed toward the big top, "I need the loud flashing ones set off near the big top, to get everyone's attention." She then linked arms with Felix and spun him around to face the other direction, this time using her free hand to point toward the knife-thrower's tent, "The showy ones we'll be setting off right above the tent, so our friend Samara knows exactly where the ruckus is coming from."

Unhooking her arm from his, she did a neat flip toward Samara's tent, "As for the the rest- you can decided how we're going to burn the thing down. Now- you set up-" She turned back toward both the anthroparion and the pyrotechnician, walking backwards into Samara's tent as she spoke in the knife thrower's cold voice, "I'll be right back..."

With an ominous little flourish, the trickster disappeared through the tent flaps, almost immediately swallowed by the darkness of the knife-thrower's tent. Obviously no one was home, and that suited Demon just fine. Not knowing exactly what she was looking for, the trickster wandered about the tent snooping through various things, stopping as she came upon one of the knives Samara apparently had decided to leave behind for tonight's performance. Demon plucked the thing from it's resting place, and twirled the sharp blade up in the air briefly. As it came down, and she made to catch it, she accidentally fumbled, and in scrambling to catch the damned thing, it slipped through her fingers.

The sound of steel meeting porcelain caused the trickster to flinch involuntarily, and the blade fell to the floor as she withdrew from the sharp object. After a moment, she very carefully picked up the weapon by it's handle, and as she exited the tent, also removed her mask. Studying the porcelain face, she was relieved to find the blade had left only a small nick on the otherwise smooth surface. It had only barely missed one of the delighted eyes on that devilish face. Well- it certainly could have been worse.

"So- are we ready to get started?"

[ M i s s F i o n a F o o l s f o o t ]

Fiona looked at Gina. Correction: Fiona deadpanned Gina. The magician had no idea why Gina would smile at her, unless Atiko had told her to play nice. She wasn't the type to do it out of cowardice. Whatever the reason, Fiona did not care. The extent to which Fiona did not care could be summed up by the fact that the magician was already turning the rabbit into a cloud of sparkling dust. It was a smaller replica of what she'd be doing in her show.

Having been spotted by the silk dancer, Fiona moved to climb the lattice that held up the back of the big top. Like the roof of the Bus of Horrors, beside the Hall of Mirrors and many other obscure places around the Carnival grounds, this was one of the places Fiona went to avoid people. The advantage of this one was she could keep an eye out for when Gina's act ended without mingling with the riff-raff who looked up with hotdog-stained faces. She could even go through her act in her mind. Hey, if she was forced to do this thing, she'd damn well do it properly.

Though she would never admit it, Fiona began watching Gina arch and flow through the silk. The woman had skill, and strength too. Holding her body in such slow movements required a lot of muscle work. One could even say that Fiona almost - but not quite - admired Gina's grace. Unfortunately, the impression did not last long. The show started to take a bit too long for Fiona's tastes so she turned back to her own magic. If anything messed up it wasn't her fault. She was just doing her unpaid job by practising her art.

From inside a nacho hat, the rabbit appeared in the same cloud of dust it had disappeared in.

The sound of applause called Fiona down from her perch and looked Gina up and down. Given Fiona's temperament, the look could only be considered as one of disapproval with a hint of contempt. In truth, she was weighing up whether it was worth complimenting Gina on her new act. After a few moments of practically staring Gina down, she remembered the smile the silk dancer had given her. It truly was a very rare thing indeed for Fiona to receive a sincere smile so in a less-than-cruel voice (Fiona could never be expected to be kind) she said,
'good show.'

She then walked away as though she hadn't even seen Gina.

The Carnival of Mirror's resident magician stepped out into the unlit performing ring. She scooped up a handful of dirt and dusted it between her fingers before placing both feet at the base of a ladder. She could do this. She would do this. Carlisle would not make her fall, not in the middle of a show, not if he wanted his coach to remain intact. She ascended the rungs of the ladder and made her way to the tiny platform she'd nicknamed "the Deathwish". Every time she stepped upon the platform, she had to wonder whether she actually wanted to die. The answer was always no. She stepped out to the middle of the high-wire: sure-footed, proud and determined. It had not been clumsiness to cause her distrust of the Deathwish.

Two fluffy, white ears flopped to the sides of her face as she lowered her head. One, two, three, she whispered to herself before every single white and warm toned light heated her white costume to an amber glow. Her head jerked up and the show began.

A hat. A purple hat glowed in the hot light of the lamps. There were no sequins but it's sheen tinted and reflected the amber of the lights as it levitated from under a little boy's seat. It hooked itself on Fiona's feet before she flicked it up and caught it in her outstretched hand. She rolled it about her body as a contact juggler rolls her balls about her entire body, ending by flicking it from her foot to her head. Her entire head disappeared inside the the hat, followed by her neck, shoulders, chest and waist. Only when it caught on her hand did it stop engulfing her body. She lifted the hat up over her body and placed it on her head once more.

Fiona put her hand up to stop any applause. She wasn't done with the hat yet. She reached her arm in as far as it would go, grabbed hold of an ear and pulled it out. The ear was about as long as her body. She reached in and pulled out another ear before drop-kicking the hat out into the ring. The hat spun like a plate on a pole, the ears helicoptering above the crowd before it pointed itself right way up. From the bottom of the hat, out dropped the rest of a bunny. Dun dun dunnn. A bunny with antlers. A giant, living rabbit sat lazily in the middle of the ring. It twitched its nose and rubbed its paws over its gargantuan antlers. The crowd inhaled as they looked up at the unimaginable creature. At the same time, the hat landed on its head with a little dupp that echoed throughout the entire ring. It was the first sound of Fiona's entire performance. Not even the sounds from outside permeated the stillness of the moment.

Booooom!

There was a flash of purple light. The crowd leaned back in their seats as though to escape the powerful light and the brush of wind that came with it. Many of them realised they had closed their eyes and cautiously lifted their lids to peer out at the ring. There were bunnies everywhere.

Somewhere between the explosion and when people opened their eyes, the lights had changed to a deep blue and all around bunnies made of golden light were escaping from where the giant jackalope once stood. Streams of warm light followed the little rabbits' movements as they bounded up the stalls of the Big Top. They landed on people's faces, laps, shoes and chests before disappearing in clouds of dust, which twinkled with golden light. The people inhaled and muttered with excitement at how warm the rabbits had felt and what it was like to feel the rabbits' weight on their bodies. This was real magic: magic they could feel with their own hands.

They turned their heads up expectantly and waited for Fiona to do her next trick. She looked so small under a large spotlight and so determined. This was the point the highwire had snapped earlier, though the crowd had no idea of this. As they watched she took a single step, one that would have her crash to the ground and no doubt break a bone.

But she didn't fall far. She put her hands together before stretching them wide, as though opening a folded sheet for her bed. She shook the air and between her hands appeared a velvet matador's cape. While still falling she grabbed each of the corners and made a parachute that couldn't possibly hold her up. This she did in the second before she was meant to hit the floor. The cape held her up and instead of falling, her feet landed gracefully on the dry earth. She was safe, she was relieved and she was applauded.

Fiona bowed to the audience, purely out of showmanship before getting on with her next trick. She flapped the cape in front of her so the sound echoed through the tent and laid it to rest on what would seem to be an invisible table. She then looked out to the audience, ready for her next trick.

XXXXXX

The stage dimmed to black once more. Fiona stepped out of the ring, not even noting Carlisle's presence as she walked past. She was in no hurry to talk to him after his little outburst, and it appeared the feeling was mutual. It was likely that he'd spent as much of his time avoiding her as she did him, only speaking to her when he wanted something from her, whether it be practice, performances, punishment or to plain piss her off. It had been about half Fiona's lifetime ago since they'd been able to have a friendly conversation.

" This used to be a Funhouse,
but now it's full of evil clowns... "

It's time to start the countdown.

Leopold Sidorov

Anastasia hastened into his room the moment the tamer opened the door, pausing once to flash him a brilliant smile, before she shifted her entire attention onto his cats.
She gabbled at them in English, mangling the words to a point that Leopold could barely understand what she was saying. It sounded like a greeting. Leopold just smiled in response – it was usually the right response, and the worst that would happen would be that people would think him a simpleton.
Not that that would affect him in any way, really – when he went out and about, it was not Leopold that they spoke to; it was the cats.

This was a fact that the tamer had lived with for a very long time. He was not hot-headed or very loud – in fact; he hardly ever spoke at all. He didn’t smoke, or drink, or party - he didn’t irritate the others, or set fire to things, or challenge Carlisle. He didn’t even harass the punters, even when they harassed him.
He just wasn’t interesting.
But the cats were.
Brilliant, graceful creatures plucked out of a dream right there in front of you, almost so close that they could be touched. Vicious animals plucked right out of the deepest, most dangerous habitats on the planet - and they were tame. If you could tame such beasts. They had personality, they were noticeable, they commanded your attention, and held it. People never thought of Leopold himself, it was always Leopold and his cats.
And, isolating as it was, he liked it.
He was not interesting, he did not like attention. Better that those who deserved that sort of thing got it. If it weren’t for them, he wouldn’t even be in the circus at all (Even though Leopold couldn’t quite decide whether that was a good thing or a bad thing).
Anastasia almost fell upon the big old Lion as soon as he was pointed out to her. Dress and all (It was quite a dress indeed, Leopold thought to himself) she knelt on the floor, green hair falling in a curtain around her face and shoulders as she buried her face in the lion’s rough mane.
Leo accepted the hug with resigned grace, blinking sleepily at first the dancer, then Leopold. Leopold just continued smiling. It was good for the old lion to have such affection, and it really seemed to bring the youth back into the old man, having a young cub like this dancer to look after. Leopold and the Lion had a strictly professional relationship; they were just too different to make it anything else.

The lion made a strange noise in his throat as Anastasia pilled back, then closed his eyes as she started scratching his ears. Purring softly, he leant his great head against the dancer’s torso.
“He will ruin your dress.” Leopold said quietly, but the dancer appeared not to hear, and just smiled as she stroked the Lion’s mane.

Leaving the two at it, Leopold went back to his pre – act preparations. Bobo had to get into his costume yet, and Arrow had to be locked away.
As the tamer went back to work, Anastasia seemed to come to herself.

“H-He iz seeming tired mor' often." She paused, which made the man look up at her in return. "Is.. is not good? Is..bad?" Leopold couldn’t really understand what she was trying to say. It was about Leo, that much was obvious, and she was concerned.

"H-He iz ok, oui?" Anastasia looked up at Leopold, her eyes pleading and sad. She really loved that big old lion, he was the last of what was left of the old Lion tamer. It must be about his age, he was slowing down as of late, and he was really a very old man.

Leopold left off preparing Bobo and went over to squat down beside the dancer, hitching up his hideous trousers before he did so.
“Leo is old.” He started, speaking slowly and carefully to the dancer. “He has had good life, but is slowink down. He ees hokay, for old lion.” The old circle of life talk was a hard one to give, especially to a girl as attached to an animal as this one was. “Eventually, he will slow down. He will find it hard to move, andt will need to go.” He put a hand on her shoulder, and looked deep into her eyes. It would help her to see his tears, to let her know that he was sad to. “Eeet will be best.”
With that he stood, and began ushering Arrow back into a secure cage. It was time for his act, and he wasn’t used to making speeches.

It took the tamer only moments to finish his preparations, and gather his cats. “Leo will be performing tonight.” He said quietly to the dancer. He would be there just for show; there would be no jumping and leaping about for him. “We need to go.”

You walk a lonely road. Oh! How far you are from home.

Felix Zimmerman
Pyrotechnician and Special Effects Guy

Felix rolled his eyes at Demon’s question “would you have come to me if I couldn’t?” she ignored his response and continued to instruct him on what she wanted. He felt very much like she was an ordering customer... except for the fact that she wasn’t paying. Demon pointed over to the massive show tent that could be seen over the city of canvas and stalls, the sounds of distant ‘ooh’s and ‘ahh’s emanating from it. Clearly an act was in progress.

"I need the loud flashing ones set off near the big top, to get everyone's attention." Felix nodded in approval; this was definitely going to be big. He envisioned hordes of screaming audience members running in chaotic fashion towards the exits and smiled slightly. This was probably going to be worth the effort that it would take. Demon suddenly and without warning linked arms with him and spun him a full 180 degrees as though it was the most natural thing in the world, as though she was dancing. Felix just went along with it, stumbling slightly when they halted the motion. Demon held her hand out to Samara’s tent with her free hand “The showy ones we'll be setting off right above the tent, so our friend Samara knows exactly where the ruckus is coming from." She unhooked arms with him and did a neat handspring flipy thing over towards the tent she had indicated. Felix was still just as awed by this manoeuvre as when he first saw it but instead of his first reaction of jaw dropped wonderment he just smiled.

Felix was slightly at a loss as to how she could continue speaking through the trick but she managed to keep speaking none the less “As for the rest- you can decided how we're going to burn the thing down. Now- you set up-" she ordered as she finished the dramatic and graceful flip spinning around and walking backwards. Her voice started to change then and as she slipped into the tent with a dramatic flourish of tent flaps she added in the cold knife throwers voice "I'll be right back..." Felix shuddered slightly at the voice. She could have picked something less creepy to say instead of reminding him of his previous thought of waking up dead. He shook off the chilled feeling and turned round to face Zerah.

“ Oo-kay” he said, drawing out the word “ let’s get started.” He strode back over to the fireworks box and started taking them out hastily. He beckoned, indicating that Zerah should join him then thrust the launching tube into the man’s hands and speaking quickly to him instructed Zerah to angle the tube towards the big top but three hand widths higher into the sky to allow for drop and to make sure the explosion would be above, not in, the tent. In the meantime Felix busied himself with setting up the other fireworks, burying the stands of a gold painted firework, a purple one and a blue one, into the hard root choked earth. These ones didn’t need to be angled thankfully enough; he only brought on launching tube.

Felix set up the fuses, ignoring the clatters coming out of the tent where Demon was. She was graceful and dexterous enough to look after herself and he knew that the knife master was not in there. He brushed the dirt off his hands and went to go help Zerah with the adjustments of the launching tube. It wasn’t that he thought Zerah was incompetent; it was that he wanted it to be done right. “Thanks Zerah this thing is nigh on correct he said making a slight adjustment so that it would be bang on target “Hey, what do you think I should go for with blowing up the tent? Sparks and pops with a blue flame or a loud explosion with a fiery inferno? before much more could be said Demon made her appearance “So- are we ready to get started?"

Felix looked over at Zerah “Almost. We’re just deciding on what to blow the tent up with”

BenjaminCullington
"Cookie"

User ImageSilence was all that seemed to be coming from a certain performer’s tent. This was something quite odd as normally music would be playing, unless something quite unnerving was occurring within. It just so happened to be one of those days. Of course, no one had seen the performer today so their only assumption could be that he was no doubt inside doing something to keep himself entertained.

The entertainer was a young man by the name of Benjamin Cullington, otherwise known as “Cookie” to his peers due to his child-like behaviour and insatiable desire for biscuits. You really couldn’t find him without some sort of treat in his possession. Mind you, he was a mute so he had no uses for his mouth apart from expressions and sticking things in it. He had golden blonde hair that shaped around his face quite naturally, and some of the most incredible blue eyes that one could find.

Soon, the silence about his tent formed into a very faint hissing noise-

BANG!

A massive black cloud billowed from any and every opening in his tent. But this wasn’t quite smoke. No, it was much different. This particular cloud had a horrific stench, like a huge, dark fart cloud. Seriously, it smelled like somebody ripped one so bad that it made your eyes water, and that’s exactly what our beloved Ben’s eyes were doing.

A figure ran from the cloud as quickly as its skinny legs could possibly handle, trying to find some sort of haven from the incredible smell.

The cloud sort of dissipated slightly, yet the main bulk of it was still there. What was it? Who knows? Why did it happen? I can explain that one. Earlier today, exactly 3 minutes and 24 seconds ago, Ben had decided to try his hand at chemistry. God help the girl that actually decides to take up the challenge of dating him. Now, given his gifts, he should have been able to pull off something successfully. Yet, given his naivety, he’d unwittingly mixed the wrong chemicals. He had no idea which ones, but of course this wasn’t going to stop him from trying again at some stage. Anyone who knew the boy personally could tell you that.

Anyway, as the body of the cloud slowly – and very minimally – the young blonde poked his head from around a nearby tent. He looked like what you’d expect him to look like, covered head to toe in soot at the front and his hair blown back with eyes as big as dinner plates. Could you blame him though? Yes, yes you could.

Let’s just say that Ben has a reputation around the circus for being out of control…

Without even thinking for another second, he stuck a lollipop in his mouth and walked away. Still covered in soot and a less potent reek, he simply strolled aimlessly past the other tents and stalls. He had no goal, nor did he care, he rather the thrill of finding something or someone of interest along his journey. It was like he was there just because of the fact that every day was an adventure to him.

The boy could be seen staring blankly into the distance as he moved while one hand never left contact with the stick of his lolly, seeming as if he was defending it from the grasp of anyone that was dastardly enough to steal his sugary treat that he believed he was deserving of. In fact, it was quite a sight to see a boy his age so filthy and smelly sucking on a lollipop without the slightest hint of expression on his face. It still stumped even his fellow performers and close friends to this day that he was like this. But they accepted him as family, as he had accepted them.

Demon was pleased to see as she exited from the tent that most of the fireworks had already been set up. This was going to be absolutely amazing! Assuming, of course, that they weren't caught by Carlisle or killed by Samara. But really, what were the chances of that? Rather than thinking the answer through, she decided to ignore the question entirely.

Felix and Zerah were still trying to figure out what they were going to blow the tent up with, "Well intermission hasn't started yet, so we'll have plenty of time to get the fireworks flying before our act starts." Carefully, she stepped around their handiwork, and stood quite a few feet behind the two, obviously eager to see this little show for herself.

From where the trio stood, they could not only see the big top, but faintly hear the murmurs of the audience as they waited impatiently for the next act, "Should we wait until Intermission starts? I don't know how I feel about startling kitties the size of Leo's..." Remarkably, there was more nervousness in Demon's voice as she spoke of Leopold's cats than when she spoke of the ruthless knife-thrower. Did she really think Samara was less dangerous than a big cat?

"Nevermind- whenever we're ready. We want this to be as unexpected as possible! The audience is going to be in absolute panic!" A light laugh bubbled up from her throat, and if there were any doubts about her chaotic nature before, they were swept away by that deceivingly innocent laughter. The unmasked girl froze suddenly as a dark figure wandered into view. For a moment the trickster was genuinely afraid it was Carlisle. It didn't take an idiot to see what they were doing gathered around Samara's tent with fireworks, and something told her the ring master wouldn't be particularly happy about their plans.

She let out a breath of relief, however, as she realized who it was. If it hadn't been for the lollipop sticking out of Ben's mouth, she might not have been able to recognize him. He was almost completely covered in what looked like soot, and his hair was swept back at an odd angle. After a brief moment of confusion, it seemed to occur to her how silly he looked, and she failed miserably to suppress a sudden fit of laughter.

"Is- Is that you, Cookie?" She questioned breathlessly, not waiting until she could catch her breath, "What haha-happened?" She seemed to regain her composure, but a humored smile was now plastered to her lips. She glanced back at Samara's tent, and her smile twisted into it's usual mischievous shape as she questioned the mime, "Have you come to watch the fireworks show too?"

Zerah März
------------------------------------
Mr.März had been working quietly and quickly while Demon was busy inside the tent. He didn't actually plan on helping, and mildly regretted that he took the tube Felix handed him. He wasn't exactly here to help, it was more from a desire to protect someone he considered a friend...though many performers might be a little surprised by that truth about him. He certainly doesn't give off a friendly vibe, even when it comes to the performers. However as he finished the task, that Felix ultimately could've done himself, Zerah saw Felix come to an impasse concerning the final missile. Apparently the lad was stuck on which color to choose, which only caused the golem to shake his head. He couldn't honestly see how people put such meaning into colors, though he was one to talk with all his analyzing.

"Go with the blue or make purple, Felix. I don't really care." It was true, and the reasoning were already thought of. So with that last bit of sage advice, Zerah went and leaned against a nearby tent before pulling out his latest harlequin romance novel. Yes, it was definitely an odd book...even more so considering his true nature, but the title just called to him. He was just about to resume his story when the smell of Cookie's little finally reached his nose, causing him to grimace. It's an odd thing for a golem to grimace, considering its rather stiff nature but it was definitely easy to achieve with the circus' magic.

Looking over his shoulder, at what was most likely causing Demon's laughter, the anthroparion was a little disappointed to see a soot covered Cookie. That was just indicative of a mess someone was going to have to clean, considering Cookie's...personality. Sighing to himself as he heard what Demon said to the mime, Zerah just went back to reading his book and the trouble the protagonist encountered on her way to getting the love of her life.

There are times, when an emotion is so strong, that no words are needed to explain that intensity.

This, was indeed, one of those moments, with the feeling emitted being of sadness.

Anastasia's heart clung to Leopold's words and understood, even under his thick Russian accent. Her eyes widened in joy upon hearing that Leo was alright for an older lion, but her smile fell softly as she continued to listen.

Of course he would have to pass on eventually. It was natures course after all. And Leopold was right. In the end, it would be best. But as much as she wanted to accept it, she couldn't bring herself to. It was just...too heartbreaking for words.

With a sigh, she glanced down at Leo, who seemed to look up at her with his big, timeless eyes, as if to comfort her. The dancer smiled down at him softly and scratched his ears. After a moment or two, Leopold announced that it was time to depart. "Leo will be performing tonight." she smiled a bit brighter at that.

Leo lifted his big head up from her lap, letting her stand. Once she was up, she began to pick off the few hairs that had lodged themselves into her dress. She expected this of course. After she was sure that her dress was, once again, free of lion hair, she began to make her way toward the door, weaving through big cats getting ready for their performance. Leo padded his way after her to see her off.

"G'bye bye Leopol an' Leo an' everre'on!" she smiled brightly, as she stepped out of the entrance. Remembering something, Anastasia quickly turned around. "Oh! Ah, Gud luck on tha' sho' to`nite!" she said, before skipping off towards the Big Top.

Happily prancing down the road, the girl spilled out random 'Bonjour's to cheerful people that walked her way. They smiled politely, some waving at her. Suddenly, Anastasia stopped and sniffed the air. There was a very icky, though fading, smell coming from the area in which she'd stopped. She scrunched up her little nose and continued walking. Ça sent terrible ici. she thought to herself, trying to rid the scent from her nasal passage.

Upon turning a corner, the girl heard laughter and picked up more of that horrid smell. Curious, she walked forward, only to recognize it as Demon's laughter. She made her way up where they were stationed, seeing the cause of Demon's laughter. Cookie was standing there, lollipop in his mouth, covered in filth and soot and stinkyness. Anastasia sighed a bit, not really bothering to figure out what happened to the mime. "Hallo everre'on." she smiled cheerfully to them with a small wave.

After a moment, the dancer looked around, slightly confused as to where they were, or perhaps why they were where they were. Honestly, what sane person would be hanging around Samara's tent, of all places. She peeked over, seeing fireworks and Zerah and Felix setting up...something inside. Inside Samara's tent.

"Que font-ils.?" she mumbled to herself, trying to put two and two together. Ils pourraient exploser la tente ... Oh mon dieu! Her eyes widened a bit as she, finally, figured out what was going on. For a moment, she felt a bit stupid, for it was quite obvious as to what they were doing. It was a prank of course. And a very risky one at that. Not only would Samara have their heads for blowing up her tent, but Carlisle would also be very cross with them.

Not that she'd say anything about it. To be honest, it was no concern of her's. As long as she wasn't dragged into this, her mouth would remain shut. So, after a moment of standing there quietly, awkwardly even, she smiled to the lot of them, brightly of course, and began to slowly continue her way toward the Big Top, pretending that she didn't even see what was taking place in Samara's tent.

"...dance, dance smile, to wash those sad feelings away..."
"...i'll just smile, laugh, smile, cus i don't understand them anyway..."

Note!
Bonjour - Hello
Ça sent terrible ici. - It smells terrible here.
Que font-ils? - What are they doing.?
Ils pourraient exploser la tente ... Oh mon dieu! - They could blow up the tent ... Oh my god!

User ImageUser ImageDrew & Drake Pan Handling Twins

Drew and Drake were on their backs, staring up at the roof of the Hall of Mirrors. They'd been telling a story, one sentence at a time, as though it was some type of game. There was a game to it but it was very basic. The first one to say "um" or "er" lost. They could also lose by giggling or taking to long to reply.

'Pause,' Drake said before he could be declared the loser.
'Yeah?' Drew asked.
Drew tilted her head over, obviously bored with the game.
'Do you think t would be safe for one of us to sneak away?'
'How come?'
Drake shrugged then glanced over to the mirror they'd used to hide their sacks of goodies.
'Put the sack in the car?'
'Liar,' Drew said, pushing herself into a sitting position. 'Tell me.'
'I want to put the sack in the car,' he said again, his voice a slightly higher pitch.
'Liar,' Drew said again. She sighed and shrugged. It didn't really bother her why her brother wanted to escape. In fact, she was secretly wishing she'd thought of that first. 'I'm taking the second one but.'

Drake nodded and shot to his feet, suddenly full of excitement now that he'd gotten away with his little ruse. He heaved up the Hessian sack and rolled it onto his back. Admittedly the Hessian sack was only a smallish one but a normal eleven-year-old would have struggled to lift it, let alone carry it all the way to the opposite end of the Carnival where the personnel's tents, caravans, car, trucks and motley array of dwellings were.

As soon as Drake's haul was snuggly tucked away in the trunk of the car, under the mess of children's clothes, he pelted forward towards where he'd seen Demon and her entourage heading. Whatever it was she was doing, he wanted in but he wouldn't have been able to let Drake in on his plan. They couldn't both watch the Trickster at work.

A kid in a blue suit and red top hat could hardly be considered inconspicuous but Drake still tried his hardest to blend in with the customers walking here and there. Realising how obvious his hat was, he snatched it from his head and crouched behind a fat woman. She glared hatefully at him, as though the mutant child was going to pick her wallet from the voluminous folds of her pink plaid dress. Drake figured her dress looked more ridiculous than anything any of the clowns could work up. It also used up much more material then he'd bother hunting through. He sardonically wondered how many girl germs he'd get with how long it would take to get her wallet from between the contaminated folds of her dress. The kid shuddered under the woman's glare then did his best to pull an innocent grin. The look on her face told her that he'd failed but it wasn't like he could get in trouble.

'I, er, I lost my parents. They told me to wait by the-,' Drake scanned the area for some excuse, '-kissing booth if I got lost.'

The woman walked away and made a small but high pitched, 'Humph!'

Drake felt a little bad for upsetting the woman but didn't let it get him in the way of his quest: reconnaissance of Demon's dastardly plans. When he was sure he wouldn't miss out on any fun, he would go back to save his sister from her lonely plight. If they were really nice to the ticket master they'd be allowed to go early.

From his vantage point of the kissing booth Drake could see... Felix?

That was odd. What was he doing out of the Big Top? Who was running the music for the acts and working the lighting? How much trouble would the "Pyrogyro" be in for abandoning his post? Drake scanned the area in search of Ringmaster Hunt. He must not let the ringmaster get near the construction zone. He also didn't want to get spotted by the spectacle's construction crew in case he got in trouble for being an accomplice.

It looked Felix, Demon and Zerah were constructing something around Samara's - wait, Samara's - tent. Demon was in for it this time. Drake wanted nothing to do with this. He liked his head connected to his body, thank you very much, threepence change, goodbye.

Drake slunk back to Drew as quick as he could, crouched beside her and whispered in her ear. After a few more whispered and a couple of tentative glances towards where the ticket master was pacing they walked as casually to the second sack of goodies. Drake pretended to help it onto Drew's back before whispering, 'Meet you at the kissing booth.'

Drew walked out as though it was just another of their routine drop offs. As soon as Drake was sure the ticket master was no longer paying attention he bolted towards - not the booth - Appetising Alley. The Golden Rule of Numero Ono of Escapes (or whatever that meant): never head directly to your destination. Okay, so maybe it was the Bronze Rule of Numero Threeness. Numero Uno was never get caught and Numero Dos was never let your captors suspect your escape.

The other reason he wanted to go to Appetising Alley was to get a chewey, sticky, crunchy, gooey hatload of popcorn. A normal person would wonder how a top hat full of popcorn could be chewey, sticky, crunchy and gooey. It was easy if you were a circus brat like Drake. The chewey was because the fellow at the popcorn stand threw out popcorn more than an hour old because it tended to go funny from the butter. The sticky was from the maple syrup at the pancake stand. The crunchy was from nuts and sprinkles from the icecream van. Finally, the gooey was from when the twins met up at the kissing booth and squeezed and squashed it until it came out between the fingers of their fists.

Ah, the ammunition of champions.

And so the twins settled themselves to watch the real show of the night, though they didn't settle themselves enough to relax. Oh no, they couldn't do that. If Ringmaster Hunt caught them away from their stations and spying on a forbidden show they'd be grounded for sure. Okay, well not grounded but they wouldn't go unpunished. It was hard to be grounded in a place you never wanted to leave.
