"Oh, don't bother cleaning your boots. Just stay there for a moment..." She said to him before heading around in the room that was right next to the entrance door. It served as a laundry and storage room. Not two minutes later, she came out with a scarf, a hat and a shover, putting all three items in the man's hand. "Now, if you did read the festival's rule correctly, it said that I had 'purchassed' you, there wasn't anything stating it had to be a date. Not like I would date at my age... that is to say, today, you are going to shovel all the snow from my front door. Oh, and when you are done, the windows need some washing too. As for the water drains, they are still full of dead leaves, you'd be a sweetheart to clean them." Was that all the man had to do outside? Well, the east wall would have needed a paint job, but painting in winter was not a good idea. No, she would just need to find herself someone else to do it next spring. "Now, now! Shoo! Go do what I paid you for! You cost me 200 dollars, you better be worth it!" On those words, the old woman started to poke Hansel in the ribs, using her cane. Better get started if he wanted to be finished before dark!"

The poke in the ribs had Hansel flinching and laughing lightly. "Dont i am ticklisht." He said in a laugh, before he cleared his throat. Good thing he already had gloves and his thicker leather coat on. Plus he grew up in Germany it was kind of cold there. Least in the town he had grown up in. Hans put the hat, and scarf on and headed to the front door with the shovel in hand.

"Und i figuredt as much vhen you openedt die door." Hans said with a light blush. "Ztat ist okay i dont mind helpingt out ein older fraulien." Hans said honestly as he stepped outside and back into the snow. He set the shovel down and turned to look at Gladice. "I vill be done soon." Hans said before he started shoveling. That smile disappeared and he sighed lightly. "Ach.. ztis ist.. not how i vanted ztings to turn out." Hans said to himself.

All the same Hans continued shoveling a path from the womans door to the street.

Ah! A man who did like he was told! Gladice smiled lightly as she closed the door behind him. She wasn't the kind the trick people into doing things for her but... Oh, who was she kidding? She totally was the kind to do it. In a past life, she had bought for over 200$ of groceries in exchange of a plate of cookies, playing on the feeling of a poor shopkeeper. Oh well, a woman did what a woman could to get back. Still, she wasn't cruel. That was why, while the German man was busy freezing outside doing all her chore, she was busy inside cooking up a meal! A big pot of chickle soups with lots of vegetables! Nothing better for when you came back from the cold! Also, she had bread in the oven! Fresh homemade bread! That should life the German's spirit a bit! And if not... well, she could always give her left over to Kade. She hadn't seen the boys in a while now. She should pay him a visit... Later.

Finnaly! Her last one! And now... it was the middle of the day! Oh, she really did fail as a fairy, didn't she... Oh well, her favourite for the last. On the old lady's bed, she left a red hat. There was also, like always, a letter with it!

Like always, Gladice, you've been doing your best in order to make this land better and I can only congratulate you for that. You meet a lot of people and most of them seems to like you. Those who don't... well... it's not like they are important, now are they? However, you should take the time to visit me! You haven't came once this year! It makes me sad....

It was a bit later but the walkways were all shoveled and salted so that the little old lady wouldnt slip or get stuck in the snow. Coming back inside Hans quickly shut the door behind him to keep the cold out and the heat in. He stomped off his boots and set the shovel aside. Blowing into his hands, he blonde's cheeks were red along with his nose. it was cold out there!!!!

"Ach Fraulien. I am finishedt vith die shovelingt. Anythingt else i schouldt do?" Hansel asked gently as he took of the scarf and hat the woman had given him. Of course the German smelled the air the moment potent food hit his nose. Forgetting that he still had his boots on and with a bit of snow on them, ansel walked through the house and into the kitchen. "Ach..hmmm.." He put his hands on the door frame to the kitchen and leaned in sniffing the air and smiling. He closed his eyes momentarily taking in the smells before opening them again. "Somezting smells gut in heir Frau LeBlanc." Hansel said gently to her. He was a sucker for good food.

While Hansel walked back inside the kitchen, Gladice was busy doing the dishes, because no dishes should be done later than the earliest possible moment! In those cases, they would just pile up and that wasn't something very pretty to see! She turned around when she heard Hansel talking to her. Well, that had been fast! Good, she knew she had picked the right one to slave up for her! "Oh, you're done already? Well, that's good! Ah yes, there would be something else to do outside. The water drains are full of dead leaves from this pass fall. If you could clean them so it doesn't make a mess when the snow melts this spring? There's a latter behind the house." She dried her hands on her apron, smilling at Hansel. "Of course somethign smells good. Did you think I wouldn't feed you for working with me? I don't have to cook half as much since my grandson left. It's fun to do it again, especi- oh.... Mister Weber!" She didn't wait a moment to grab her cane and to slam in on the man's head. Such insolence! The snow on his boots had started to melt, leaving trails of dark brown water on the floor. She pointed it to him. "Look what you have done! I supose now you'll have to wash the floors too!"

Hans flinched and cringed at the cane hit and immediately covered his head. "Ach! Vas? Ach!" Hans's eyes went wide at the mess he had made in the old womans house. He didnt mean to! Honest! "Ach Es tut mir leid Frau Leblanc. I didn't mean to- ach i am sorry." Hans said as he looked around for a mop. "I vill clean ist. Und head out to gibt die gutters clean. I hast forgotten about ztem. Bitte, sorry Frau Leblanc." Hans said biting his lip lightly and his brow upturned in that genuine sorrowful expression.

The old woman gave the man a warm smile, putting he cane away. He was mopping her floors and had seemed to understand that he shouldn't do it ever again. That was good enough for her. "Apologies accepted, mister Weber." She told him as she went to her oven, taking her bread out. It had too cool before to be eaten, after all. "Good, you can go back to work now. Everything should be ready by the time you're finish, unless of course if you take your time." This wasn't a snarly remark or anything. She really just meant that the faster he was done, the hotter his meal would be. "I do hope you aren't allergic to anything. If you are... well, I suppose the clinic isn't that far." A woman like her without a car and who relied on various people to get things done for her had made sure to have her house really well positioned near all the basic utilities, like the clinic, the store (albeit it was currently closed.), and the government offices.

"Nein i am not allergick." Hans said gently as he located the mop and started mopping his way, backwards, towards the front door so that he wouldnt leave any tracks. He smiled like a fool the entire time food now driving his ambition to get things done. Good smelling, wonderfully delicious.. well at least it smelled and looked that way. And homemade bread... it had the German's mouth watering.

Heading back out Hans shut the door to the house and soon got to work on locating the damned ladder, heading up it and cleaning out the gutters. This part sucked..

Half the time Hans was fearful of falling to his death because no one was holding the ladder below him. And not to mention cold wet nasty leaves werent exactly pleasant to clean out of a gutter.. okay nothing was pleasant to clean out of a gutter but still!

It took the German a little longer than he wanted but the food would still be pretty warm once Hans finished and had put the ladder back in its place. At this point though he was frozen to the bone. Leather gloves and coats didnt do much to protect against the cold.

Once he was inside and the door was shut, Hans removed his boots and came into the kitchen once more. Shivering he looked to the old woman and then his blue eyes searched for the food.

When Hansel came back inside the house, Gladice was sitting at the table, eating a piece of bread. She looked toward him, with her eyes going to his feet, making sure that the boots weren't there. Good. He had learned. "Good, you're done? Well... I'm sorry, but I fear like I've eating all the food there was..." She said half apologetic, but she left out a small laugh before long. "Oh, I am kidding. Sit down, sit down. I'll get you a bowl" She told him before heading to the oven, pouring out a bowl for the German, as well as two slices of bread for him. With butter, of course. Real butter! Not that fake thing called margarine. Blasphemy! She brought all the food back to the table, in front of him before sitting herself back where she was previously, sipping on some tea.

When the woman said she had eaten all of the food. Hans was in shock and disappointment. That is until she revealed that she was joking. Sighing out of relief Hans took his seat that the woman had offered him. "Ah Danke Frau Leblanc." Hans said with a smile as the food was set infront of him. Of course, the German, like all full grown men who were starving, devoured the soup and bread. Oh god it was so good! And Hans couldnt help but make those little Hmm and oh sounds a person does when eating the most delicious thing they have ever tasted.

The bread was nice and sweat and fresh, the soup wonderfully warm and robust. The butter on the bread like liquid gold. Why would Hans need anything else other than this? Okay maybe seconds,..

"Fraulien Leblanc die soup.. die meal ist vunderbar!" Hans said sincerely as he finished up the meal. "Vould you mind if i hadt more? Ist just so gut, like mein mutter vould make. Heaven im ein meal." Hans said with a smile and a longing look in his eye for his mothers cooking. "She vould cook die best Deutsche breakfast.. novone vould kompare." Hans added. "und i am a sucker fur gut cookingt. So anytime you vant ein helping hande. Gibt me ein call Frau Leblanc." Hans said eagerly. Hard labor in exchange for good food. He was sold, and slave to the old womans will.

Gladice couldn't help but to raise an eyebrow at the man's question. Why would the meat be made out of chocolate? That was pretty silly. Chocolate wouldn't taste good in that kind of soup, anyway. Could the German boy be missing a screw or two? It is only when he explained that he loved the cooking that she finally understood what he meant. Still, silly expressions! Oh, Silly Germanic People! She laugh a little bit, taking his bowl away for a second serving. "Oh course, dear. You can have as much as you want. Don't be shy." That was what she said, but what she thought was more along the lines of "MWAHAHAHAH!!!! You are mine now! Mine! You are now slave to my cooking! Mwahahahah!" There went another person who would do anything for her cooking. A way to a man's heart really did pass through his stomach. "So tell me, mister Weber, If you miss your mother's cooking that much, why moving here? Why not stay in Germany?" She asked him when she brought back his second serving, placing the bowl and bread in front of him.

"Mein Mutter died just after i vent into die Military.i vas young.. 16 i ztink. Mein Vater ist ein sergeant ztere und he vanted me to follow im his footsteps like he did his Vater's." Hans explained gently as he started on his second helping. Partly through it he paused after he had spoke and frowned. "I cant go back ztere.." Hans said as he stared at the soup.

"Mein Vater ist stuck im die past und vants to ressurect die Nazi movement. Mein Great Grandvater vas ein S.S. officer. Und vell.. i vant noztingt to do vith it. i hate talkingt about ist even." Hans said as he went quiet and resumed eating. Thats all he would say on it. Nothing more. He wasnt proud of his families history, nor what his father wanted from him. So he had fled the Military, taken his neice with him and came here.

"Ah, I see." Simply said the old woman while sipping on her tea. War... never really brought in anything good. Well, it was how she had met her husband a good 50 years ago, but that was all in the past now and it would have probbaly been better would they have meet not by her pulling a bullet out of his a** in Vietnam. She shook her head at the thought and return to Hansel. "Well good then. Peace is so much better. And if war really break out, I doubt Nirvani would be invoveled. We don't belong to any real contry and we're just a small island in the middle of nowhere. Guess it's the perfect place for you." She laught a little at that. A nervous laugh, for she knew that Hansel should never have to meet her daughter in law.... She was to pro-Hitler for the man's sanity.

He did miss it dearly but he couldnt put up with his family.. any of it, aside from his niece. "Und besides i am neededt heir. I am helpingt out die tvins.. ah die general store ovners ja? Die store ztey hadt burnedt down to die groundt alongt vith zteir apartment. Ist sad.. somevone hadt to start die fire too.. least ztat ist vhat it lookedt like to mich. Before he knew it he had finished up his second meal.
