I personally love the H&K MP5N, I hate K model, way too much recoil and a higher rate of fire makes for lower accuracy, then again with an MP5 Accuracy isn't your primary concern.

I suppose silver is a relatively light metal, but what I don't get is why they are that size, because judging by their size from the pictures I have seen, they would have to be a few inches longer to be the weight stated.

Now, I hate high power handgun, and to me, a 10mm is more than enough, and I'm no professional, but hasn't a Colt Anaconda got enough power to match the Jackal? .357 rounds, whilst smaller than the Jackal rounds, would have more power to them, increasing velocity.

Oh, and you might want to add the Coriolis effect on to the guide, when things move west they move faster, for long range shooting, so if you face north and fire, the bullet will move to the left.

The MP5K seems kinda neat if you're going for easier concealment but it isn't gonna manage well on recoil being so much lighter than a MP5N, having no real stock attachment, and that vertical grip. Vertical Grips are fine for the really small SMGs like MAC-10s and Micro Uzis (Which still have horrible recoil anyway) but there's no real solid way to compensate for recoil without a heavier gun. Vertical grips just complicate things, I'm not even convinced they actually work better than the standard barrel guard grips for steadying your aim.

Well the Colt Anaconda is a magnum, there's a notable difference in the type of ammunition. For .454 casull those are definitely compacted. Rifle casings just don't fit in handgun magazines. If a handgun was made in such a way you'd never get your hand on the grip. I think those really were just oversized handgun rounds, and with the limited casing space for powder grain they'd probably actually be much weaker than the real thing. .44 rounds for a Colt Anaconda would likely pack a lot more punch. Still bullet diameter isn't the only factor in determining muzzle velocity and stopping power. Much of it has to do with the design of the casing as well.

I think I'll decline on adding the Coriolis Effect. I get how important real world physics is to taking a proper shot and really everything in plausible storytelling. The Coriolis Effect is inescapable since we're on an actively spinning planet. But this might get into a depth of realism people don't want to have to consider when RPing. If someone were to bring it up in their RP they'd probably be met with resounding moans and accusations of killing the escapism.

Good point on not endeavouring to put the Coriolis effect in.

ooh! I saw a video you might want to see of an American Marine managing to accurately use dual Light machine guns.

He won the internet. I'll find it for you in a minute.

Yeah, that was pretty awesome. Guys like that are why charging in spears first is dead. A M249 SAW is designed to mow down targets with bullets. He doesn't have to use them accurately either. With the sheer amount of bullets they pour out, that broad side of a barn would look like a gigantic slab of swiss cheese. Those are armor piercing rounds mind you.

Personally, for a primary arm I would prefer something with decent range and a low rate of fire, in the area of an assault rifle. Don't know any assault rifles with a particularly notable low rate of fire, care to make a reccomendation?
PostPosted: Sun Apr 25, 2010 11:06 pm

Well, AK-47s have a lower rate of fire. If you're trying to keep below 650 to 700 RPM then you're basically stuck with the AK-47 or a Chinese variant of it. You could get a FN SCAR or HK G417 if you want something more modern.

If you could somehow work you way around to getting your hands on an experimental Korobov TKB-022 Assault rifle you might be able to get your firing rate below 600 RPM. It is experimental though and it lost out to the AK, which then became more wide spread.

Lowest I can find is in Singapore, the SAR-21 bottoms out at around 450 RPM. If you want an even lower firing rate consider an old battle rifle.

not really sure why it bothers me, but you didn't say anything about semi-automatic shotguns. they aren't very prevalent, but they do exist.

So do automatic pistols. I covered "semi-automatic" under gun function and "Shotgun" under gun types. I'm not going to go into detail on every precise type of gun. It should be up to the person who chooses a gun to know how it works, what ammunition it uses, and what it's capable of.

For that matter I think I'll leave out pointing out Bullpup designs vs standard configurations.

Meh, I also think you should throw in more of a choice in attachments, like reflex scopes, high-cap-mags, or different types of ammo, like the infamous black hawk, hollow point of plain ole 9mil parabellum.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 26, 2010 8:27 pm

My guide is gonna be like 10 times longer if I include ammunition types. There is a huge amount of variants for the same chamber sizes, but then of course there's chamber sizes into the sky. 9x19 Parabellum could be Lead, wad cutters, full metal jacket, semi jacketed or full jacketed hollow points, lead hollow points armor piercing rounds, the list goes on.

Shotgun ammunition types are plenty of fun too...

High cap mags are self explanatory.

Except for the mini reflex scopes, there isn't much of a difference. They're red dot target sights in a lens. Honestly I don't see why they're necessary but that's my opinion. The iron sights are just fine at close combat ranges. I'll add em later.

Updates:

Accessories:
Reflex Sights
Magazine extensions

Also uh...
Identify this gun and find out why I'm a little annoyed.

That's not an M4A1 carbine, I'm pretty sure it isn't, anyway.

You are correct. It is a HK 416. It even says "Heckler and Koch Defense" on the clip. I get that it's difficult to see but not impossible. Oh well, maybe it's an easier mistake to make than I think, but it's pretty easy to tell the difference if you've seen the two closely enough.

Edit: Oh and a brief comparison if you're interested.

I see it now. But wouldn't the SIG 556 be much simpler to mistake for the M4A1, considering the similiar qualities the two share.

Well, the SIG ARMS company makes a much different body design for their rifles. The SIG 556 shares body parts designs with the old SIG 550 - 552 series. The barrel cover has the usual oblong Sig style to it. with the upper vents on it, and the gun body is somewhat more compact with the loading switch right over the slide instead of the pull tabs on the back like the 416 and M4A1.

I suppose they're pretty close though at a first look though.

Also the Sig 556 is a civilian rifle. There might be automatic variants out there but I can only find the Civilian Semi-auto only types lately.
