I saw it a while back, before Rent was even mainstream or popular. As not knowing much on the topics of AIDS and the tribulations of the homeless in NYC, it took awhile for me to get into. Looking back on it know I realize I had lots of fun. In the end I loved it.

I want to see it on broadway but that'll never happen. I watched the movie and loved it, but I'm sure it's even better on broadway. heart

I just saw the traveling broadway cast about a week ago. It was absolutely amazing! They were all so good and I was near tears a few times (which is good considering I've seen the movie and listened to the music too many times to count and knew what was going to happen).
I bought a program and a shirt. whee

I saw the tour in LA on July 22nd at the Pantages
It was amazing
I made a shirt to wear to it and had all the cast members sign it
And my best friend Katy had them sign the side of her Jonathan-shoe (red converse) and Chante (Joanne) said it was "dope" x3
I bought the program and bag thing
I also saw Tick, Tick... BOOM!, which is Jonathan Larson's other musical, the day after at the Coronet, which just happens to be across from an all-nude cabaret and next to the Trashy lingerie store
That was pretty interesting
xD
Anyway, I love the musical <3

I used to love Rent. A lot. But after (1) getting exposed to more musicals and (2) having my friends sing it everyday, everytime they see you...I have grown out of Rent. I still enjoy it, but it has become too "trendy" for my taste.
The Broadway version > Movie version anyday ^__^ domokun

I saw RENT live for the first time at the end of August in NYC. It took me a little while to accept the fact that the characters were going to be very different without the OBC, but after I opened my mind a bit, I fell in love with the whole cast. Especially Christopher J. Hanke as Mark, Nicole Lewis as Joanne, and Jaime Lee Kirchner (debut night on Broadway!) as Mimi. It was truly awesome to see all the songs performed together and all the energy of the production, and audience excitement and everything was spectacular.
And more stagedooring in the pouring rain was great, too biggrin

karatekid1986 As many of you know, I'm a HUGE RENThead. I was just wondering if anyone has SEEN Rent, WILL see Rent, and if you have seen it, how as it affected you. And if you didn't like it, why? No Day But Today! -jumps up and down- I LOVE RENT! It's become my favorite musical ~out of the ones I've seen~ I loove the music, and it's effected me to see how fast life can change. I've seen it on the DVD, and in the theater. I know most of the words, it's such an inspirational musical that I can't help but say I wish that someday I can preform in it. My dad says I'd make a good Maureen ^.^

Personally, you guys, I've never seen the atraction to RENT.
I tried listening to some of the songs and bar 'One song Glory' which is nice, I wasn't very keen on it.
It kind of depressed me.
And I'm not really into sad musicals.
Like, The Blood Brothers.
I just couldn't get into that musical, even though it's meant to be one of the best of it's time.
Probably something to do with the scouse accent, though. That accent goes right through me.
Is there anybody out there who gets what i'm sayign about RENT?
Or am I a complete odd-ball?

x I understand what you're saying, however I think you should listen to the whole thing before you judge it. It is depressing at times, and at the end most people do cry, however there is such a powerful message about love, forgiveness, and living your life as if it were your last day. It's very powerful and I suggest you listen to the entire original cast recording straight through.
