I however so no problem with adding elements as the story moves onward.

Rebuilding the guild is easy, it takes a few clicks and its fixed of all problems. However recruiting members, making a role play which will not die and creating a system flawless enough that it will allow V1 of the role play to run without incident. That is hard.

We don't really want the conflict to end. The purpose of choosing religion as a base would be to allow us enough stretching room to test our idea's for this guilds setup in a Beta or V1 setting. We after all are unfamiliar with each other and working together on this will be difficult(considering no one except me and Chrono check the crew section).

The final choice of what we use and what goes down ultimately falls upon chrono's shoulders I cannot say whether or not pursuing a certain plot or story would be good or bad, aside from my own take upon it.

An Idea doesn't just transform into a story, plot, role play system, marketplace, gundam mechanics, points system, and battle mechanics.
There is quite a bit of work involved. Remember my friends, this is no barton town role play. This is something better.

I apologize for not being in this discussion for the past two days, I've been away from the comp. Either way, combining two ideas would probably work out well. As stated, Religion and Selfish Ambition can be easily meshed together. I say we try that first.
Now, as for the Religion... We would have to, as I think was stated before, create this Religion's beliefs, customs, and the like.
We could easily use an already existing Religion, but the problem of that would be that some people could be offended. Let's say we use Christianity as the Religion of the antagonists. If we did, then people would think we were calling Christians evil. This is why I said it was a sensitive/touchy subject. So, we're forced to make our own.

Ok, if creating a religion is next.......will it be
monotheisms-the belief in and worship of one god
polytheism-the belief in and worship of multiple deities
Do they pray mulitiple times a day?
Do they only eat certainkinds of meat?
What is their religious book/manuscript/whatever called?
Do they have any rituals, if so what kind?
what is thier place of worship called?
Were is it located?
Were does this religion orginate from?
This is only the tip of the iceberg but it gives us a place to start.....this being said,I will help throw ideas around and help put it together but in Character I would perfer not to be on relgious fanatic side.

One god would be easier than multiple I think. Of course, if there were multiple you could even think about the possibility of friction within the faction; but then, that might over complicate things.
If they're evil they could do sacrifices. Slaughter a sheep, offer their blood, shove a virgin into a volcano, and all that jazz.

Sacrifices sound like something I'd put into it. To me, the Religious side should be the evil ones. Makes it easier.

Well just because a religious faction is considered evil doesn't mean we should negatively portray them. Think of the Yellow scarves or the Tai Ping rebellion. Sadly I can't use any European religion as they all did really bad things.
Anyway I will not be on very often this week and I'd assume you can all mange without me.

The aggressors should be the faction that is religious but that shouldn't mean they are evil because of religion........Selfish Ambition is why they are evil, Religion is how they justify their actions. And give them a believable religion for the time period.
Something simple.........
One god, worship on certain days, they pray a certain way, at a certain place...
This way they can say "well they don't believe what we do that must make them evil our problems are their falt......"
or better yet......due to a war 2-3 hundred years ago that ended in
a ceasefire, the people have a tense and rather unagreeable truce....some powermonger says
" My people centuries ago our for fathers for the right to be free, free to govern them selves and to believe what they wish to believe....and now after all this time What has Changed? Nothing has Changed! We are still hated becuase of our religion, we are Still hated becuase we pray at a diffrent church.....10 years ago i asked for time and in that time I have rebuilt our nation! And !! I have.... Rebuilt our pride..! together We will strike back at our oppressers...We shall be shuned no longer!!"
And with a wonderfull speech the people will fight and a war will begin

I like what you are all suggesting, but we have to remember people who are coming into this thread later. Some will find religion unlike Gundam, though 00 seems to have it now. We cannot over complicate it, or interest may die.
My suggestion is that we keep it to something like Jacen said, but we have to remember Earth is quite a diverse and religious planet. For this reason, they have to have something about them that Earth dislikes enough to war with them. Unfortunately, we can't have something that is too close to the Muslim extremist. Though we may not think it, there are many Muslim believers on the site.
We can try something like this:
In a prophecy, the people of this religion were told that they were to inherit a continent. After a war that erupted from this finally ends, there is peace. The rest could be as previously stated in Jacen's post.

I liked the idea of a prophecy, as it could lead to many things, depending how we want the story could go.
It also give a good cover to hide behind; "We do this because our God said it must be so."
Maybe the leader could even be a prophet of some sort? Leading his/her people to a new era, and so on.

Actually, now that you mention it, Lia, if the leader claims to be a prophet, then they would have to obey his every whim believing it to be the word of their god.

Oh dear, is this where I have the misfortune to reenter?
Well. As I see it we can bend the entire gundam story, for whatever era we choose. Being our own role play guild we have the ability to develop and change events in the gundam universe to benefit ourselves.
This religious faction could essentially rise up in part to the actions of Zeon, or the Earth Government. We can change the events of the gundam universe negating certain things and adding our own elements. Who says Garma needs to die? He could join the religious rabble, after the attempt on his life by char.
Just thought I'd help you guys with your creative ideas.
