Addy sighed, "Oh alright. I have a brother named Timothy, he's older than me and went to Hogwarts too. Both of my parents are wizards and we live in London. I used to go to Beaubatons...with Chanese. I kind of miss it there. It was fun. What about you? You want to share anything?" Addy smiled a bit, sort of relieved to open up a bit. Not the way she opened up to Kiandra, but letting out your feelings a little bit is good right?

"Umm, Caleb didn't even think about the fact that she might want to know about his parents. OH s**t! He thought to himself.
"Uhh, my parents were both wizards too...but they uhh...they died when I was a baby."
Caleb knew that he shouldn't ahve lied about his parents but he really didn't want people to know that he was a mudblood. He was better than half the wizards at this school better than all sorts of purebloods.
"And I used to go to Durmstrang but I got kicked out."

"Wow. I know how you must feel." Addy said sitting down on the top step. Maybe her and Caleb had more in common than she thought. I mean, Addy's situation was a little bit...different, we'll say. But to both have lost someone they loved. That's fairly bonding. Adara sat down on the top step and bent down to flick her wand at her untied shoe. The shoelace tied itself together and Adara put her hand on her chin. She was going to try this totally new thing, and maybe it would work together. It's called sharing your life with someone else. "My ex-boyfriend-"Addy started, suddenly realizing how Caleb would find her, talking about her exes, when he just told her that his parents died. Pretty shallow. And then she realized how awful she sounded talking about the boy she truly loved as her ex. Addy bent over again to 'tie' up her other shoelace when she tripped on it and tumbled down a set of stairs. She sat there for a few seconds in silence and started to laugh. Uncontrolable - nothing is really THAT funny - out loud - pointless laughing.

"Oh My God! Are you okay?" Caleb asked Adara as she fell down the stairs.
He held out his hand to help her up.
"So what were you saying about your ex-boyfriend?" Caleb asked.
Now he was getting somewhere. He wasnted to know about her past relationships and stuff. He just wanted to know more about her in general.

Addy sat there stunned.
She took his hand and used it to pull herself up. She suddenly forgot what she was going to say about Damion. And suddenly she didn't want to. Addy scratched her leg where it hit the stairs. What the heck is wrong with me, she thought. She looked up into Caleb's eyes. He was so, damn fine. She wasn't his friend, she didn't even love him. But whenever she looked at him, everything else kind of faded away, mostly her words.
He made her feel stunned. Not really sure of what to do or what to say. It was never like this with Damion. They were chatty and talked about nonsense, and she shared every peice of her life with him. She barely knew what to talk about with this boy.
"Oh, my ex. He...lost someone too." Addy said, he lost himself, she thought to herself. She couldn't just outright say he died.
Addy couldn't just say that. He deserved more than that. More words than just -dead- more time than just now. He deserved more.

"Alright...well if you are okay I think that we should be getting back to the school. I don't want to get into trouble after I just got here." Caleb said trying to get out of haning out with Adara.
There was just something about her and annoyed him. It might have been the fact that he hated not knowing everything about a person or it might have been something else.
He didn't know. All he knew was that he wanted to get out of here and back to the Hufflepuff common room.

"Okay. We can get back to school, if that's what you really want." Addy said. You wouldn't expect that level of keen-ness coming from a hufflepuff, usually you only get that much love for school in the ravenclaw room. But whatever, Addy thought to herself. So much for being a prankster, trouble maker. Addy thought she was going to have some fun with the pranks and all that. She loved sneaking around, spying and so on. "See you around!" Addy said waving as she climbed down the rest of the stairs and started in the direction of the Ravenclaw room. She had an awful feeling in the pit of her stomach that she had made a big mistake. Who was she to just go accepting offers to the ball. But there was no way Addy was going to backdown from her commitment. She was way too stubborn for that!

"Happy nesting," the young man sighed, wrinkling his nose at the smells of the Hogwarts Owlry; Rumors had apparently done this section of the school little justice... Pulling his scarf closer about his fair mouth to block out the pungent odor of owl matter. Seeing off his dun owl, Wayfonse, with one last flick of his forearm, the wintery-maned boy turned from the stairs of the tower, looking out across the gap towards the school that would be home for the next semester.

"Learn some magic tricks, ace a few tests," Rene sniffed, testing the fresh air of the field, "Hell, it just might be a learning experience..." Decidedly set against boarding schools, the softest drawl of sarcasm leaked through the youth's tone before his vaporous breath was sucked up into the warmth of his scarf. 'Just one more average day at happy Hogwarts,' He sighed, shifting his black-gloved hands to the deep folds of his dark dress robes before starting off down the stairs.

Kayla walked up the steep stone steps of the owlery, a small parchment envelope clutched in her hands with the word ‘Adam’ printed neatly on it. It had been a while since she had last heard from her brother. He was the one who usually wrote to her, sending the rest of the family’s love along with it.

Sitting down on a large flat-topped rock, she pulled a piece of paper out of the pocket of her robes and unfolded it carefully.

Dear Kayla,
How have you been since you last wrote? I’m glad to hear that things are slowly calming down for you. Everything around here is fine. Mum, dad and Evan send their love. I trust Jeremy and Celeste are doing fine as well? Send them my greetings =)
Kayla laughed. Adam always wrote smiles in his letters. So I hear the ball is comming up. Got a date yet? If not don't worry about it Kay, i know how much you stress over things.

write back soon sis,
love Adam

Kayla smiled to herself and shoved the paper back into her pocket as she rubbed her fingers together, call down a snow white bird with brown speckles on the back of her wings. It was surprising how much Jeremy liked this bird.
"Hey Misty!" she said friendly, tying the letter to the owl's leg
"It's for Adam" She said. The bird gave an affectioniate hoot and took off out the window. Kayla smiled and leaned against the sil, watching the bird fly slowly out of sight.

"Saving your conversations for the birds?" Rene chuckled, kneeling closely behind the girl as she lost herself in the all-consuming process of letter-writing. Deducing 'Adam' as a relevent male figure as to steal the girl's attention into an oblivious canter as she'd walked right past him without a word, the youth smirked and rested his wrists against his knees as he perched on the wooden railing to the girl's right by the tips of his pointed leather boots.

"I'll save us both some indignation and say, no, I'm not spying or stalking you, I didn't read that letter to your brother from over your shoulder, and I'm certainly not lost and in need of a guide to the Gryffindor common room for orientation," the wintery-maned wizardling chuckled, extending a traditional open hand of greeting as his robes and cloaks billowed out behind him as though caught on some ghostly wind. "You can call me Rene, and I'd be delighted if you'd show me around..." Rene winked, leaving no room for questions between his queries to reduce the chances of damaging his yes-to-no ratio for the evening. As it was, even the slightest motion seemed to send his curvaceous bangs trickling across his icey blue eyes like a fresh coat of snow over the pale face of the mountainside; He was an albino.

Kayla spun around rather quickly as she heard someone talking to her. Her long curly light brown hair rested evenly on her shoulders ans she raised her eyebrow at the boy now standing beside her, talking to her as if she had been a long lost friend. At least three times she opened her mouth to speak, but was silenced by his 'answers' to questions that were brewing in her head.

"Um.. McKayla Branch" she finally managed to say after he had introduced himself. She had never seen him around school before, and his next statement confirmed that he was new to hogwarts.
"I...er... Sure?" She said, after getting over the shock of the wink. Was this person hitting on her or something? Words were comeing slowly to her at the moment. Her mind was still processing the utter random act of the boy.

"Er.. well this is the owler, which I'm sure you already know..." She stated, stratching the back of her head. "And erm...." She paused for a moment, thinking of something else to say. "What house are you in?" she finally asked, feeling just about as random as he was.

"Gryffindor actually," Rene sighed, rising up onto his legs to defy gravity by spinning a full circle on his heel before crossing his arms to his slender chest through his fresh dress robes, "Lord knows it turned into some sort of celebration on the grounds when the kiddies found out..." Noticing the cocked eyebrow, the youth brushed his bangs back from the black mold of his mask, smirking as his icey blue eyes penetrated the one-way lenses of his facial accessory to taunt McKayla Branch with sightless abandon.

"After decucing the basic truths of this situation--that being that you belong either to Slytherin or Ravenclaw, unmarked as Hufflepuff of Gryffindor--I suppose that a guided tour could be either a trap, or an attack on house points," Pausing for a moment as though to let his verbal assault sink in, the finely-tuned youngster leapt down from the railing to land with a perfect bounce in the sawdust and litterings of the Owl lodging floor, "Therefore, I will be keeping a close eye on you, McKayla Branch..."

Flicking his wintery mane away from his eyes into a fresh fall of snow, the boy boldly draped a cool arm about Kayla's shoulders before starting them off towards the door. "Now, where does one find the entrance to this place...?" He chuckled, returning to the point at hand with a wag of his robes. Flowing and quivering as a thing possessed, the wizard's hair seemed to be a thing of constant motion, glittering like white silk as it undulated in the crossbreeze of the owl shelter.

The boy who called himself Rene was defiantly different. It was far beyond Kayla's understanding as to why he would wear a mask... Or had he mislead to think that the ball was today. She quickly scanned the owlery. No one else was there but them
Damn! She thought to herself, Slowly putting her hand into her pocket and gripping her wand. Now and days you could never be to careful. Kayla had learned that the hard way.

Blinking, Kayla's other hand quickly shot up to her neck to feel if her house scarf had somehow fallen off during her trip to the owlery... but no. It was still on. She looked down to check the colours. Red and gold. Looking back up at the boy, her eyebrow raised once more.
"For someone so keen on answering questions before they are even asked, I would think you had the capability to take in detail as well" She paused for a moment and took a few steps to her right. "But It seems I have miss-read you because anyone else would have been able to see that I belonged to Gryffindor as well" She remarked, hiding the defence in her voice. She had always been a proud Gryffindor, and had felt slightly insulted when he made his assumption. She grimsed as he called her by her full name. No one every called her McKayla besides her parents.
"You can call me Kayla" She stated.

Her shoulders tensed up as the stranger put his arm around her. She blinked and shuffled along awkwardly with him. She knew that if she were to take her wand hand out of her pocket right now, her knuckles would probably be white from clenching the wand so tightly. "Um" She muttered, slipping out from under his arm at the door. "The entrance is this way" She said, walking quickly down the steps.

"Ah, then a fellow Gryffindorian!" Rene chuckled, spreading the tails of Kayla's scarf before hopping up atop the steep ledge of the tower's stairway. Sliding down the slick stone on his heels without a care in the world, the youth twisted through the air to land with a soft arc of his feet to compensate for the balance lost during the slide, grinning exhaltedly before raking his fingers carefully through his flawless mane with a soft persing of his lips.

Hardly put off by his housemate's shrugging of his 'affections', the young wizard crossed his arms as the girl took the mundane path down the stairway, flicking his hair as though it bothered him for some undeterminable reason. Wild and free, his mane seemed alive for the glory that each and every strand possessed, ruled only by the dancing wind save for where it had been curled to hide his ears.
"There is nothing for it then, Kayla, you and I shall be friends," Rene smirked, mocking an elegant leg to the lady before turning back to the main building of Hogwarts itself.

The brochures and letters had fallen short... Looking at the castle now, the icey-eyed boy couldn't help grin at what lay in store for the students and staff of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

"Yup.." She said simply, watching him ride down the ledge of the stairs. One word stuck out in her mind.
Odd
Quickly, she racked her brain, trying to remember if she had ever met a person with such behaviour before.
Well if you count Jeremy... She thought, and laughed out loud. It would defenatly be like Jeremy to slide down railings, just not in such a ... gracefull manner.

She was shocked at his sudden statement about being friends. She had known him all of what? 5 minutes? He didn't seem mean or anything of that type, just very... Forward.
She would stick with that description for now until she thought of a better one.

She glanced over at him, and raised her eyebrow. There was something oddly familiar about him... his features almost wolf like... Memories flashed before her eyes and her heart skipped a beat, and she quickly looked away.

"Friends.." She said, trying to distract herself from the thoughts slowly creeping up inside of her. "Alright." She finished. Although her statment was brief, Her tone was friendly.
