Derek grumbled as he got to his feet, "Drama queen? Shea, I'm a guy, in case you couldn't tell."
"Actually, we couldn't," Gwen said.
"I hate you all," Derek huffed.
Suddenly, a moan pierced the forest. Reacting quickly, Gwen and Derek readied their weapons. Pointing it at the direction of the noise, Gwen said, "It's not safe here. We have to get out,"
Derrek nodded, "Right."
At that moment, a figure leapt out of the bush and grabbed Kat's arm. Lunging forward, it tried to bite her. But a quick shot from Gwen's pistol silenced it for good.
"Move!" Gwen shouted as they all made a mad dash out towards the edge of the forest.

Kat, now bloody terrified, let out a rip roaring scream. it echoed marvelously, and after the zombie dropped, she stumbled away, panting. she whimpered, and bumped into a tree, causing her to give a startled squeak. she turned, and in her blind panic, and after the mad dash, when everyone else stopped, she kept on running. tree branches snagged her clothes and hair, and all she could hear were her own frantic gasps, and the imaginary moans and groans of imaginary zombies. finally, she stopped in a clearing, and she collapsed on her knees. "wh-where am I...?" she clasped her hands underneath her chin, and gulped. why did she run away from the others?!?! now she was alone, and even more scared. safety in numbers... they wern't safe together, now what were her chances of survival???

"No as a matter of fact, I didnt have the slightest notion you were a guy." Shea sarcastically shook her head, laughing at Derek's reaction. Suddenly right when a noise broke out, Shea readied her weapon as well, making sure she wasnt left behind this time.
Suddenly, Shea jumped when a zombie almost bit Kat and on command, Shea dashed behind Derek and Gwen towards the forest. She had to remain calm, unlike Kat was doing. Why was she here anyways? Kat so far, was only making herself a burden. "Derek! Kat is gone!" Shea yelled to him as they ran to the edge of the forest. This wasnt good. Even together, it seemed the group would be killed or trapped. Shea couldnt take the surprise attacks anymore and halted in her step. Loading her pistol, Shea's eyes grew big with fury. "Where are you zombies?! Come out and dont hide! Im sick of your s**t!" Shea yelled, looking ahead to notice that Derek and Gwen were gone from her sight also. Maybe it was better if they split up. At least they had more of a chance of survival...maybe. Crack! Shea jumped and pointed her pistol in the area of the sound...

The monsters were everywhere. Everyone could hear their growling. They were trapped.
"This isn't looking too good." Derek muttered.
But then, They heard Shea's cry, "Derek! Kat is gone!!"
They all stopped. She was? This is bad. Really bad!
"We have to find her!" Gwen shouted.
"But where is she? I can't hear anything!" Derek snapped, "How are we going to find her?"
"How else? By looking!" Gwen answered.
So the three of them started searching.
The zombie was so close to the girl. It was excited about having a flesh creature to feast on. Soon, his hunger would be filled.
She was in a panic, alone, and frightened. It was time to feast.
Lunging out of the woods, it grabbed onto Kat's face. Unleashing a bloody roar, it lunged forward to bite her in the head.
*SLAM!* A figure leapt out of the bushes and kicked the monster in the face. Staggering back, it howled.
The figure took the moment to draw his knife and run towards it. Time seemed to move in slow motion. The zombie lunged, but the figure grabbed its throat and slashed upward with so much force it didn't even seem... normal.
As the monster clutched its abodomen, the figure jumped in the air. Spinning furiously, he delivered an incredible spin kick, taking off the monsters head.
As the headless zombie dropped to the ground, the figure sheathed his knife and stood up, "Been a long time, hasn't it?"
As he turned, he qiped his dirty blone hair away from his face to reveal himself.
It was Jack!

Barely having time to scream, Kat was set upon, and rescued in a matter of seconds. When the mysterious rescuer revealed himself...
*whump!*
"Oh god, Jack, I was so worried..." Kat- once Alexa- whispered in his ear and she embraced him, tears in her eyes. "Oh dear god... thank the lord you're alright!" she released him, and thumped him on the arm. hard. "You Son of a *£?#$!!! How the HELL could you run off on Shea and me?!?!" she hit him again, old presence returning. "And Derek... oh my god, Derek! DEREK!! GWEN!! SHEA!!!!" she ran around the clearing. "WHERE ARE YOU!?!?!"

"There were... things I had to do," Jack said, " I coudn't have you all with me as I did them,"
Suddenly, quick as lightening, Jack rushed towards her and clamped a hand over her mouth, and at the same time, Holding her hands together so she couldn't struggle.
"Quiet," he ordered, "The only reason why I showed myeself is to save you. Don't go calling them back,"
But the damage had already been done. Gwen and Derek had heard her call. They all started dashing towards Jack and Kat.
Jack growled in his ear, "Nice going. Listen, you didn't see me. I don't care if we knew each other. I have a mission to complete. If you get in my way,"
He leaned closer so he whispered into her ear, "...I will kill you,"
He shoved her into the ground. Hard. Using his superhuman strength, he leapt out of the clearing and ran away.

"Kat?" Shea heard her scream but could not decypher what she had yelled. Pointing her pistol in the darkness, Shea turned her head toward the direction of where she heard Kat. "Damnit." Shea whispered and ran off toward Kat, jumping out of the trees. "What is it? Are you okay?" Shea asked, walking over to her side. Nothing was unusual besides the dead corpse of a zombie near the two of them. "Nice..." Shea whispered and looked into Kat's scared face. "C'mon we cant stay here for too long..."

Derek and Gwen huffed as they reached Shea, who had gone ahead. Seeing her on the ground, Derek asked, "You okay?"
Gwen looked around, "Kat, what happened? You don't look so good."
Just then, a moan cut through the forest. Gwen cursed, "We have to get out! NOW!"
She motioned with her good arm to hurry up, and started out again.

Shocked, Kat didn't hear any of the others. she saw Shea, she saw Gwen, she saw Derek crouch down next to her. All she could hear was; "If you get in my way...I will kill you..." a tear trickled down her cheek. "oh god..." she whispered, a second tear joining the first on her cheeks. she closed her eyes, tears now flowing freely. what an earth happened to him to make him that...alone? she curled up in a ball, wanting to be swallowed up, sobs racking her body. then she heard a moan. Supporting herself on her left arm, she finally became aware of everyones voices. they began to move out, and Kat stood up to follow. there was a loud
*crack*
and all Kat knew was agonising pain in her right thigh. a rock had been thrown, thankfully missing everyone, and hitting a deadwood tree. unfortunately, a very long, very large splinter had fractured off, and embedded itself in her leg. Gasping, Kat supported her weight on Dereks shoulder. "Oh great, they can throw rocks now?!?!" she said sarcatsically. "ah geez... god this hurts..." fresh tears adourned her face, and she attempted to limp after Gwen. Kat collapsed. "Go on ahead, leave me!" she said, dragging herself to standing again. finaly, she was rising to her previous shelf. she felt the familiar urge to tear the head off zombies and spit down their throats, but the blind terror of recent years clawing in a far distant corner of her mind. "GO!!!"
((finally!! sorry, I've ad writers block for a while!! it's gone!! whee ))

"You idiot!" Derek snapped. He grabbed Kat's arm and slung it over his shoulder, "I don't care if I'm dragging you! We're getting out of this! All of us! You're coming with us, Kat."
Running after Gwen and Shea, Derek never let go of Kat's arm.
Jack stood over many different corpses. The corpses were the ones who were throwing the rocks. Jack holistered his custom 12mm pistol, spitting on the monsters. If they had been left to their work, they would have killed Derek and the group. Man, they were always in his way!
Suddenly, Jack's stomach lurched. he brought his hands to his mouth and coughed violently. Finishing, he inspected his hands, finding them covered in blood. Humph, seems it's getting more frequent.
Seems Jack didn't have much time left.
Maybe he should have left with Derek and the group. Yeah, maybe he should meet up with them. He had something he wanted to tell them anyway.
Jack wiped the blood on one of the corpses, then dashed off after them.
Finally! Derek had cleared the forest! He looked ahead to see a cabin towering over them.
The growls behind him told him that they should take shelter. Derek looked up. The sky was getting dark.
"Come on, everyone!" Derek said, In that cabin!"
He then marched with Kat and Gwen towards the cabin, hoping to make it before nightfall.

"Derek, I'm fine I can walk I swear..." gingerly testing her weight, with Derek still supporting her, her leg shook uncontrolablly. "Ok... maybe not..." she winced, and they entered the cabin. It had low ceiling, and a wooden island. well. what once was a wooden island in the middle. it had been smashed by some superhuman strength, strength that even surpassed superzombie strength. Kat remembered the force with which Jack shoved her away. He never seemed to be that strong... another memory flashed across her eyes. Caulder. He had injected himself with that stuff, and got really strong... but he was dead. Billy sacrificed himself to destroy him. Kat shivered, causing Derek to glance at her. "I'm fine..." she whispered again, but it was clear she was lying. not only was she in pain, she had now worried herself, and really really needed to sit down. Slipping out of Dereks grasp, Kat sat on the floor, and inspected her wound. "oh, geez..." the 9 inch long peice of wood seemed far to big to be called merely a splinter. Steeling herself, she grasped it, and tugged. She bit down on her lip. hard. 'don't scream don't scream' she thought, whimpering. the 'splinter' had moved about 2 inches. she breathed out. "ooookaaaay......" she tugged again, and let out a strangled yell. "ah, ah, ouch......." she panted. 4 inches of it remained embedded in her leg. "one more..." she went to pull it. and descovered that she couldn't. fresh tears cut lines through the grime on her cheeks. Kats eyes seached the room, and found Gwens face, Sheas, and finally, Dereks eyes. They seemed... black in the faint light, but somehow Kat found comfort in them. and strength. just enough to seize the peice of wood, and yank it out of her leg. "AHHH!!! s**t..." grimacing, Kat glanced down, tears clouding her vision. it took her a few seconds of dumb shock to realise that, in any other situation, unlike being trapped in a cabin surrounded by zombie haunted forest, she would never of been able to pull that out. maybe she would of 10 years ago... but now... never... or so she thought.

Derek breathed as Kat pulled out the splinter in her leg, "Wow. You're pretty strong. I doubt I could have done that," he commented.
He then knelt down beside Kat and reached up to his shirt sleeve and, with a mighty yank, tore off his own sleeve.
"Gwen, get me some water, will you?" Derek asked.
When Gwen came back with water, Derek told Kat, "This'll sting a little," then poured a little water on Kat's wound. Ignoring the moans of pain, he wrapped his shirt sleeve around the wound and tied the two ends together with a knot.
"There. You should be fine now," Derek said with a reassuring smile.
"So," Gwen said, looking around, "What do we do now?"
Derek sat next to Kat as he faced them, "Well, nighttime is coming, and we can't see well in the dark. I say we hole up here for the night, since the place seems to be vacant. But we'll have to maintain a constant watch."
Gwen nodded, "I'll start off. You guys need to get some rest,"
"Don't think so," Derek argued, "Gwen, look at your arm! You need rest too!"
Gwen scowled, "It's nothing. I'm fine,"
Derek huffed, "Whatever. I'm taking first watch,"
Gwen looked around, "...fine,"
She then laid down against the wall and looked up, "I really hope that Jack is alive somewhere,"
Derek smiled, "Don't worry. Jack will come back with us! I know it!"

Ka gave a little "ha!" at Dereks last sentence. "oh, um..." she spluttered, when they all looked at her. "I can't...um..." She slumped. "I know he said he'd kill me... but we have a mission to do too." She took a deep breath. "I saw Jack. He saved me from a zombie that was about to bite my face off. And he was... unbelievably strong... When I called you, he grabbed me and could shut me up with one hand whilst stopping me from struggling with the other... he said..." a dry sob racked her body as she remembered his words.. "He said, 'I have a mission to complete... If you get in my way..." she shuddered with emotion; "I'll kill you..." Looking up at Derek, she said to him, "He's changed... he's not like he used to be... he's like a caged animal. Nothing to lose, and all the more deadly because of it." she shuffled to the wall and leaned against it, eyes closed. "He's not the same........" She began to cry softly, curling up in a ball, all the hurt and pain causing her to retreat into herself even more.

Derek and Gwen looked at Kat, slack-jawed, "Jack did... what?" Gwen asked.
Derek however, didn't seem to look suprised. But his eyes reflected a great sadness as he looked to the ground, "He really has... changed," he muttered.
Gwen sat up straight, "Oh, Kat, I'm so sorry," she said, "I really am."
Derek stood up from his position, then walked over to Kat and sat down next to her. He drew Kat closer to him and whispered, "I'm sorry, Kat. Just wait. We'll track him down, and we'll get some answers out of him. I promise."
Keeping a protective arm around her, Derek smiled, "So, let's just make it through the night. We'll find Jack in the morning, okay?"

Kat allowed herself to fall against him. she closed her eyes, tears still leaking from her eyelids.gradually, as the minutes ticked by, the tears stopped, and began to dry on her face. Kat could feel herself falling asleep, and fought against it, but it soon overwhelmed her. she let out a tiny sigh, and tucked her legs up closer.
