Considering we had 31 drumline members they were cool to get along with. Ther were 4 tenors, 9 snares, 6 basses, and 12 cymbals. you have to love college band. And it doesn't help when you make out with a couple of them.

Our drumline and color guard get along pretty well I'd say, but there was this one tenor who NOBODY liked my freshman year. In one of our sets, the color guard had to pass through intervals in the drumline and this guy decided he was going to be too lazy to make my interval big enough for me to pass through. It took about 5 close calls and 2 solid whacks with my flag to get the message through. wink blaugh

I am the few...the proud...the guardie AND drummer. I do fall guard and winter drumline. Good part is that both sides like me! Bad part is that I have to hear all the smack that everyone talks about everyone else. I never say and I try to tell my good friends when they're being talked about. There is anamosity between us, but it isn't so bad... neutral

o_O Talk about a small band.. Wowie.. Our band's over 10x that.. I think we've got... 77 this year? 86 if you include the guard..
my band is even bigger than that, we have almost 200 people.

o_O Crazy.. I can't imagine how you guys manage.. Do you have more than one band instructor? Cuz I know our instructor has trouble with just the 86 of us... He's been known to throw a clipboard or two..
I know, I look at those big bands (with colorguards almost the size of our whole band) and I really just wonder how they do it. I went to college (my college has a big band) but that didn't help, because they suck. D=

How do they do it? I suppose in college there are a heck of a lot more people actually dedicated to it, but it still seems like an impossible feat..
rofl
Sorry, sorry. Dedicated? Maybe about 1/3 is (if that much), they rest are just there for the housing scholarship. At least, thats how it is in the colorguard. I'd say about half (again, at the most) of the bandos are dedicated.

I might be in that catagory soon blaugh ...kinda. The drumline is doing a show where they want some of the guard to spin rifle and dance in it. We would have to learn a small instrument to play during half of the show (We all have music experience, just not with percussion sweatdrop ) I'm so excited! I hope we get to do it! I think it'll also help with the very small percentage of animosity there is between the group. There isn't much at all, its just that the drumline acts, well...arrogant at times and it gets on our nerves, but rarely.

My HS guard did that twice and it really helped some people, but made it worse for a few of the guardies. All of the drummers were cool about it, and most of the guard enjoyed it (and messing with drummers) but two of the guardies were so upset that they didn't have a winterguard that they took it out on the drummers and their show. It made me sad =/

I have no idea about the guard/drumline relationship is in our guard/band. neutral Mainly because I'm only 13 and I don't notice this stuff, and this is my first year marching.
But I don't think we have a rivalry, because we've got a snare player with a sister in guard, and his girlfriend was in winterguard... neutral So I think we're okay.
Or perhaps I'm just oblivious...? confused

((Lol, I just now saw this!!))
Yeah, luckily we're going to join with the drumline during marching season. So we'll have to learn two shows this fall, marching and drumline, but we'll get to do winterguard so it's all good.

I don't see what the issue is. The guard and the drumline get along just fine at my school. Their section leader goes out with one of the girls on guard, and most of the others have friends in guard. The again, maybe we're just weird.
