Hell Money
An episode with a Chinese mythological setting ... along with a rigged organ black market gambling game ... nice! This was the first episode I've seen where there was no paranormal or extra terrestrial theme going on, so it was interesting in light of that fact. However, for me the episode dragged a little in a few places, but the overall story was interesting. A pretty decent episode with a rather sad ending.

Hell Money:
I like eet but eet is not mah favorite. I've seen this episode a lot. For whatever reason Hell Money is a really re-runned episode. I've seen this episode tons of times and it being just a decent episode; the multiple viewings has made it a 'meh' episode to me personally.
The first time around I like it OK though! surprised

Jose Chung's "From Outer Space":
I LUV DIS EPISODE. mad
This is, of course, an episode written by Darin Morgan. So it's awesome. Sadly, this is his last episode as a writer for the show, although he returns as an on screen guest-star in season 4. ninja
It's fun, its funny, it's true to the series, it makes fun of the series, and for all it's goofiness it has something to say about subjectivity, perception and recollection. Which is a topic I loooove, as it always makes for interesting entertainment. The 20 + science fiction and writer allusions are also a reason I enjoy this episode so much. I've got a shirt that has the 'Jose Chung' artwork on the back of it. I like the character of Jose Chung in general, I loved when he crossed over into Millenium. xd
And yes; Lord Kinbote was supposed to look that horridly cheesy.
RANDOM STUFF I KNOW ABOUT THIS EPISODE:
- The name of the character Jose Chung was created in an on-going practical joke from the writing staff. In their joke, a man named Jose Chung called the offices every so often to inquire about an unsolicited script that he supposedly had submitted. Jose Chung was always turned away.
- Lord Kinbote shares his name with Charles Kinbote, a character from Vladimir Nabokov's "Pale Fire". In the book, Charles Kinbote is the commentator on a long and obscure poem, one which he completely distorts. The book is about interpreting your experiences so that they confirm your own opinions.
- Military abductees Robert Vallee and Jack Schaffer, along with the man who comes to collect them, Sergeant Hynek, share their names with authors who have written books on UFOs. When you trade the first names of characters Robert Vallee and Jack Schaffer, you get Robert Schaffer, an author on the paranormal, and Jaques Vallee, who along with Allen Hynek wrote the book "The Edge of Reality: A Progress Report on UFO's".
- The autopsy movie Chung shows Scully, "Dead Alien: Truth or Humbug" sounds a lot like the title "Alien Autopsy: Fact or Fiction" - the X-Files' favorite show to make sly references to.
- Mr. Chung mentions one of his earlier works, titled "The Caligari Candidate". This is a reference to "The Manchurian Candidate" - and "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari"
- Dweeb-boy Blaine is wearing a "Space: Above and Beyond" T-shirt. Beside the obvious reference to a show created by two of the best X-Files writers, it was also quite fitting to have Darin Morgan make a reference to a show his brother, Glen Morgan, co-created -- especially on the same night that an X-Files star (Duchovny) made a guest appearance on "Space" AND when that very same "Space" episode also referenced yet another X-File episode written by Darin Morgan - "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose".
- Detective Manners certainly has no manners to speak of, and is so named for sharing his habit of 'colorful phraseology' with producer Kim Manners.
- Chung's publishing house is owned by "Warden White Incorp., a subsidiary of MacDougall-Kessler" according to Mulder. Heather MacDougall edited this episode, and Sue Kessler is an assistant editor.

Jose Chung's "From Outer Space"
A most excellent episode filled with most excellent story telling elements and most excellent execution. There was just so much going on in this episode and the whole way it panned out was a treat to watch. I can see this episode being a favorite among fans, especially in discussing the possibilities of what did actually happen in this little story.

Quagmire:
This episode is entirely awesome if not for the rock conversation all by its self - but it also is a solid episode that has a few fun tie ins. The super artificial stoner kids from War of the Coprophages make a second appearance as Queequeg makes his 3rd, and sadly his last, appearance. gonk
But yeah, the rock conversation (much like the forest conversation in Detour ) is just that nice little bit of banter the show doesn't actually offer on a normal basis. And the Mulder / Ahab metaphor I've always found to be totally spot on.
AND LOL CGI SNAKE MONSTER THINGY IN THE END. LAWL.

There was a lot of good lines thrown around and the rock conversation (I'd personally like to believe they were resting on top of Big Blue :3) was quite awesome. I don't remember a lot about the story of Moby d**k ... but I do remember the cartoon where Moby is a singing whale. (that had four vocal chords xd ) The stoner kids reappearance was fun. I was all, "LOL THEY BACK!" Much fufufufufufufu-ing to be had and ... SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEA SERPENT ZOMGZOMGZOMGZOMGZOMGZOMG

1st Commercial Break Ooooooooooooooooooooo! Very interesting! So we got a guy who thinks he's seeing this EVIL dude from the TV everywhere and is killing random people. Mulder is actually uninterested in the case and its Scully that's going a little "overboard" with the theories. A nice break ... AND WHAT DO WE HAVE HERE AT THE END, MULDER TALKING WITH CANCER MAN!? DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!
2nd Commercial Break TV MIND CONTROL!!!!! AND IT'S AFFECTING SCULLY!!!!!
3rd Commercial Break Yeah! These guys! They be explaining stuff at THE SPEED OF LIGHT. We are t3h Lone Gunmen, and we are here to inform you. Also, MIND CONTROLLED SCULLY ZOMGZ!!!!111oneoneoneoneone Also ... A call for Mr. X. Nifty!
Fin Ah ha! So that's who Scully saw in the car with Cancer Man. Seems Mulder was partially right about Mr. X and partially wrong. OH DELICIOUS PLOT DEVELOPMENT, HOW WE LOVE THEE!
This was an interesting episode, all things considered. It touches on an idea I've always looked at with great interest. I tend to side with Scully on this issue, I think surrounding one's self with varying degrees of, shall we say, "garbage" will ultimately lead to a person producing and throwing out "garbage" him/herself. Now, going so far to say that it completely alters someone's attitude ... well, it's possible, but I think unlikely.
I can say, for a fact, that the time I spent surrounding myself with "garbage" throughout my life has led to me mimicing the "garbage" I had put into my life. There's a corny, but I think valid, catch phrase I remember from Summer Camp one year.
Garbage In, Garbage Out

Yes, they want his brainzzez And now, the last episode of Season 3 Talitha CumiThe conversations between Cancer Man and Jeremiah Smith are, hands down, my favorite lines of dialogue that did not include our two main characters. Wow. If I could some up the current state of the world into an episode of something, it would be the dialogue these two have. What a coincidence that I just happened to read this today and then come home and watch this episode. I love it when I see others piecing together puzzles I've pondered and mused over. It makes Ashram an happy Ashram. Great episode ... until the end of it, when I was met with, to use the Japanese term, the words Tsudzuku. LOLHE'SHERETOKILLMEH!!!
