This may have been in Stone of Tears, I'm not quite sure I remember since it has been awhile since Wizard's First Rule, but I love the part where Richard explains to the Bird Man how he used the whistle to summon all the birds to pick off all the blood flies of the gars surrounding Scarlet's egg.
I also like when Zedd had his little conversation with the gar in Westland and sent it after Kahlan's quad.
Zedd growing himself a beard because Richard said that wizard's should have beards was pretty funny too.

Good choices. And yes the first one is in the second book. But the event that he was explaining happened in the first. Then the lessons learned are good.
