this is my favourite movie ever! i saw it first time in japanese eek but with subtitles. this only made the country road song even more interesting..and really catchy.
it has a personal level which i could relate to and so i really enjoyed it.and it's sort of refreshing as compared to most films i've seen and like.

I wanna see this one so bad! I can't wait until it comes out to the US whee

Mimi wo Sumaseba (Whisper of the Heart) centers on Shizuku Tsukushima, a 14 year old growing up in the suburbs of modern Toyko. She is bookworm who wants to write when she grows up. Over her summer break she discovers that all the library books she has been reading have been checked out before her by someone named Seiji AMASAWA. Through a series of semi-magical accidents, she meets Seiji and finds out he is another student at her junior high. He wants to be a violin maker and is going to try for an apprenticeship in Italy. Struck by the example of someone working so hard to fullfil his dream, Shizuku sets herself a challenge to write a real story. This will prove to herself and the rest that she can achieve her dreams of being a writer. We only see a little bit of the story she writes, while the movie focuses on the typical adolescent struggles to prove that one has some talent or ability that make one a worthwhile or lovable person.

I enjoyed the movie, not quite as adventurous as some of their other films, but still had a heartwarming message.

You can see it in the USA. Disney has it out in a two DVD disk special edition. Or it did several years ago when I bought it. Disney released many of Miyazaki Studio Ghibli movies on DVD around the time that it released Princess Menonoke at theaters. I hope that you can still buy a copy. Try Amazon.com. I wouldn't wait for Disney to release Whisper of the Heart in the theaters even though I think it is very relevant to artistic young people of the present generation. 3nodding
