No, the forest rangers like to trick us into believing we'll have forest fires. XD Down the road, there's this sign that shows you the Forest Fire Warning Level, and it's ALWAYS set to high, even after our rain storms a couple weeks back. We don't have enough people to have a large crime rate, you get mugged because everyone is poor here, and we can just get high off the Halifax Harbour. XD

Well, I'm all for J-Rock bands coming to America, cause for those of us who love them undyingly, yet have who are too broke to get tickets to go to Japan AND buy the tickets for the concert (that's alotta friggn cash, unless you're Bill friggin Gates, man............) it's a very very good thing. Performing at A cons and such, maybe not so good. But then again, these are huge events we're talking about. Performing at places like that could, not only make more publicity for them, but it makes it easier for us, because we won't have to pay extra to see them.
Also, maybe they wanna have fun. Anime Cons are fun. Fun+lotsa people+ publicity=Happy Bands. We want our J-Rock bands to be happy. Not bored and not recognized.
But they should really nationalize this stuff. -_-;; I missed PLC when they came to the USA.............*sniff*

one side note. the whole pierrot being booed off stage, that was in japan... (some people seem to have the impression it was in america)

Anyways.

My standpoint on all this.
As much as it bothers me to hear about the hundreds of fans that are going psycho over these bands because they saw them at a convention, it is good for the bands.

Seriously. You're a band in Japan. You're approached to do a live in America, where you pretty much don't have to pay for anything.
Would you do it?

These bands are invited over. (Except BLOOD, they've paid their own way the last few times). They get the opportunity to share their music with hundreds of people. Some of these bands barely make 2 rows in Japan, because they don't have the money for the exposure.
I think it's good, as long as they continue to try to expose themselves to the Japanese public as well.

Now what are a few of the plus sides to these bands coming over?
+ more vendors will carry japanese products, because they have noticed the increase in popularity
+ more bands may try to get in on the deal. HELL, why not get a name in another country?
+ the bands start to relase things in america. which means cheaper prices for us.

Yes, they'll get screaming rabid american fangirls that ADORE the band cause they're all so HAWT.
but have you ever been to a Japanese live?
Every band has them. Even bands like MUCC and METRONOME, which don't focus on image.
Hell, Nightmare wouldn't survive without them.
So, really, they're used to it.

Granted, I do know what they think of these anime 'otaku'.
I was walking out of the convention center with a band member (who will remain nameless), and he's looking out of the corner of his eye at some of the cosplayers....

I nearly died laughing.
They put on a great show for these people. Pretend they love them. Pretend that they're cool and friends. The minute they get away, they just thing they're so frikin' scary. xd
But at the same time, they still suck up to them, because it's money.

Anime conventions = mass exposure (to mass amounts of people with a LOT of money xd )

I say go for it.
Lives in america, be them at conventions or their own tour.
who care's if it becomes a fad? your years of knowledge makes up for being involved in a fad, if you're that worried about your image wink

*** When I say extent. I would like to point out that bands should work on the popularity in their own country harder than popularity in america. no names of a band mentioned..dueljewel.. sweatdrop

To be honest? J-Rockers coming to america makes me rather nervous... especially those of the Visual Kei variety...
American show business is the toughest thing out there. Meat-picking media vultures will do anything they can to chew up any artist and spit them back out.
Japanese people are WAY more open minded about a lot of things, but americans?
Visual Kei bands would be eaten alive....

To be honest I don't want any visual kei bands in the US because the large majority of them suck hard anyways. I'd rather keep them as far away as possible.

Except when it comes to those damn dirty American bastards. *cough*
