So do I. I want to buy another one although I shouldn't considering I've broken 2 of them already.

I wish the battery life was longer though. I heard the new Sony MP3 players have up to 30 hours. I may not know karate but I do know that is karazy.

I will be definitely looking into those.
Although the new pricey Archos have captured my attention as well.

My VAIO came with Sony's answer to iTunes - SonicStage. I haven't tried it yet though... still using iTunes.
I don't know where my loyalties lie. iTunes/iPod or Sony. gonk

...I hate all of you.
Not only am I too poor for an ipod, but even if I somehow magically obtained one, it wouldn't work on my outdated operated system. gonk

Setting it up for the first time was an absolute queen b***h. I had to buy a firewire card and a USB 2.0 PCI card (for an external hard drive). Of course, my computer kept on freezing every time I would transfer files. I had to leave the case off because I kept pulling the cards out to find out what was causing the problem. I even bought a second firewire card b/c I thought the other one was faulty.
I agree that ipods are still the best when it comes to mp3 player management. I also like the controls and I think the newer ones are even better. ******** Apple and their ******** expensive toys! scream

It took an entire day for the iPod software to update itself. And I bought one of those firewire-to-use adapter things. After that it was smooth sailing.

Why didn't you just get the USB ipod? That's the one I want. I think the new ones come with ports for both. I'd like to have a docking station, too. That would look spiffy at work.

It was called the Windows ipod and there was such an uproar from Apple enthusiasts. The new models do have improved battery life but it's not a big deal to me since I generally suck with electronics and I'd probably break it before it gets close to it's intended lifespan.
It's scary to read the troubleshooting forums. If you want to dissuade yourself from ever getting an ipod, check out all the problems everyone has.

I haven't had any problems except for freezing for a full minute maybe once or twice since I bought it.

I'd rather get BSOD than have it freeze.
Interesting note, Dell was running this special where you could trade in your old iPod for their own player (the Jukebox) for $99. I considered it but thought instead that there may be a chance to fix the ipods.

You can't. iPods don't have color screens (yet).
Anyway, I found this site through Playlist magazine ipodresq.com.
Hopefully it's a legit busiiness and I can get my pods fixed.
