Magnolia Simms Helter Skelter Hippie Well, that was rather rude.
Personally, I think "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is the best song on either disc of the White Album. It's beautiful. Almost hypnotizing. George had a different style of songwriting than Pauly or Johnjohn, and that's what made his songs so cool. Indeed, it was. Man, if someone said something like that to me face-to-face, I would go all "Oh NO you didn't!" /Z SNAP/ on their arse. Also, it's funny you reffered to Paul as 'Pauly' and John as 'Johnjohn', 'cos my little 'pet name' for George is 'Harihari'. X]]] Making up Beatle petnames is fun. heart Though Pauly just came from A Hard Day's Night.
Paul's grandfather was very... clean. ninja
I call George "GOOOOOOOORGE!" Because I saw someone else mention it, I think on Livejournal, and I thought it was funny. whee

I knew this kid in school a couple years ago who went so far as to call George a ninny in front of my face. o_O He said that George had no talent and that he should've left the writing to John, who was the real brains behind the whole thing. eek It took all my strength not to beat the crap out of that kid on the spot. Instead I just got really bright red in the face and cursed at him. stare

I like to think everyone contributed equally to the phenomenon of the Beatles. George brought the sitar and the meditational, somewhat spooky new spirit from India when he became fascinated with all of that stuff. Paul and John's roles are well-known. And like Paul's grandfather said--where would they be without Ringo's steady drumbeat? (Plus, could we imagine anybody else singing Yellow Submarine?)

Those are such cute names for John and Paul. heart It honestly ticks me off when someone tries to downplay any of the Beatles, even John or Paul, rare as that is. Each of them contributed in his own way, and none of them deserve to be picked on! evil If anything, they should be insulted as a group. lol

Yesterday, on the bus ride home:
Michael's Nerve-grating Girlfriend: GREEN DAY IS THE BEST METAL BAND EVER.
Me: Green Day isn't metal, but fine. You can say what you want.
MN-GGF: THE BEATLES SUCK.
Me: BITCHWHAT?! scream I should crack you one for your blasphemy.

The thing that really bugged me was that she called Green Day the best "metal" band ever. Having been RAISED on metal and classic rock, I think I can safely say that Green Day is NOT METAL and they PALE in comparison even to the freakin' MONKEES. The Monkees seem to have variety in their songs (between "I'm Not Your Steppin' Stone" and "Last Train to Clarksville", for example). All of the Green Day songs I've ever heard sound pretty much the same, with different words.
Then she proceeded to diss my boys. mad Green Day probably has GOBS to owe to the Beatles--I believe that most rock bands and such do.
On a totally random note: I hate "rock." It seems as though the "roll" was dropped because nothing ever REALLY shakes up the scene anymore. Hence the old "roll." It shook the scene, and sometimes the world, up while still staying true to its roots (the "rock" or steady part). It seems as though most music just does the same stuff over and over these days. Goes steady on.
We need someone like the Beatles to shake up the blandness of the music scene. xp
