Luminita hurried and wrapped her arms around his neck, gripping tightly against his shoulders. Blood spattered every, her clothes and body completely drenched in the foul liquid.
"Hurry!" she begged him, gripping even tighter.

Illuminatus surged forward, magically enhanced swimming abilities propelling him through the water like an otter. Even with magic, he was tiring fast, swimming against the current. Blood ran in his eyes and made his hair fall in spikes across his forehead, but the end of the corridor was near. "At least," Illuminatus thought as he swam, "We can look forward to AIDS or Hepetitus if we survive this." Finally, he reached the end of the corridor and grabbed onto the top of another statue. the blood seemed to be coming out of the wall itself, and Illuminatus could see the door, but he was unable to do anything but hold on. Bumping his head on the top of ceiling, Illuminatus chocked to Luminita, "Door... Down and center. Can't reach my wand."

Luminita hopped off him, diving down for the wand, unable to see because of the mass of blood. She was gagging on it, desperately trying to find the thin piece of wood. Luminita felt around for it and gripped her bloodstained hands around. She swam up as hard as she could, the thick liquid holding her down to its bottomless oblivion. With one quick hand she tossed Illuminatus his wand, hoping with every breath he'd be able to catch it. As the wand left her hand, she sank below to the depths of the garnet ocean.

Illuminatus's ebony and rune-engraved wand flashed out of the horrid current and he barely caught it. But Luminita did not surface. "Alohamora!" The door opened, and Illuminatus tumbled inside, ocean of blood held back by some magical barrier. But still Luminita did not surface. In desperation, he yelled, "Accio Luminita!" A limp figure broke the surface of the magically restrained sea, hair stringy from the blood and robes damp. He held her, brushing someone else's blood from his eyes and repeating feverishly as his breath came in sharp rasps, "Please be alright... Please be all right.... Wake up..."

Blood choked out of Luminita's mouth and her eyes opened. She couldn't see but heard Illuminatus' voice so clearly. "Illuminatus?" she coughed, blood spurting out.

"I'm here," He said immediately. "I was so worried you were dead," he said in almost a whisper, using the hem of his robes to wipe blood from her face. Upon realizing she was really going to be all right, he said with a watery smile, "You saved us, without you I couldn't have got the door open in time. Look-" He indicated the doorway full to the top of red.

Luminita wrapped her arms around Illuminatus. "I did nothing except fetch your wand, you saved yourself...and me." She let go, being so ever thankful that he'd saved her from the waters of Hell.

Illuminatus hugged her tightly. "Hogwash. You're the heroic one here." He looked at her a long moment, and then drew his wand and cleaned their robes, but the horrid metallic smell of blood still lingered. He shuddered and helped Luminita to her feet. Straightening his Hogwarts tie and brushing a bit of imaginary dust from his shoulder, Illuminatus looked down the corridor and saw a faint green glow eminating from it. "What do you think that is?" he asked Luminita.

Holding Luminita's hand tightly, Illuminatus advanced into the green-lit room. And yelled. Esrath was lying on a long, long table, looking very dead and held in place by an abnormally strong patrificus totalis. "Esrath!" he yelled, but froze as Saraz stepped out from behind another eerie statue.
"Aczharum Echerodré!" Saraz yelled, and the corridor behind them erupted into blue flames that filled the hall effortlessly and spilled up through the doorway to lick the higher ceiling of the tomb. Saraz laughed.
"Illuminatus, my fool cousin. And what's this, a new addition to the people that have gotten hurt because of you?" he indicated Luminita.
"Don't touch her! She hasn't done anything!"
"You'd be surprised at how little that matters to me." shot back Saraz. "So," he sneered at Luminita, "What do you think of Illuminatus now? A funny boy, with an even funnier name, with dark wizards in the family and who's responsible for your death," he laughed, tilting his head back as if savoring the sound of his own harsh voice echoing and re-echoing off of the blood-spattered walls.

"My death?" snapped Luminita. "Since when did you judge my proper time to leave this world you foolish thing!" She'd nearly drowned in blood, she was in no mood for a Dark Lord.
"And as for my opinion of him, well it is still very high, its on opposite ends of the scale with you of course!
