Blood could have been a reference to the blood shed to have built the Mansion and maintained it. All the men who died fighting against vampires. Mr. Hirano never portrayed Integra as "proud" about being a Hellsing in a family sense, more as someone duty-oriented into protect England and carry out her mission (which didn't involve breeding specifically). This is a clear difference with the Tv series portrayal of Integra who was a woman with a lot of personal and family pride.

Indeed. Besides, the "blood and honor" quote is from the TV series, not the manga. In the manga, Integra places more importance on civil duty than family honor.

Also, in the manga, there's nothing that indicates that only a Hellsing can lead the Hellsing Organization. In this way, it's a little more realistic. It's like any other organization or foundation or company that is founded by one man and passed down through his family until, eventually, a non-family member takes or is given control of it. As long as they're qualified, it doesn't matter if they're family or not. Seeing as how Penwood is being raised, taught, and trained by Integra, I think he'll be perfectly qualified, which is more than we can say for his father. Therefore, the future of Hellsing rests upon the shoulders of Penwood, Jr. and Seras Victoria.

On another note, I got my copy of YKO today! blaugh It feels so awesome to hold the real thing in your hands. It's a lot bigger than I expected. Ironic, since I only wanted it for the cover and the 24 pages (27, including the OVA V ad) at its center. Still, it's totally worth it, and great to have. 3nodding

Sorry, but a chain smoker does not look that good at 50. Hirano was being really nice.

...

I feel that the panty shot lowered the manga to just another Japanese backwards book. neutral

it's hirano, master of the nazi-themed rape hentai and fanboy of anything boob-like and jiggly, of course he was wayyy overdue for a pantyshot somewhere. rofl

In short: Hellsing manga is complete CRACK, u gais. Hellsing is unrealistic and a lot of the time doesn't make a lick of sense. I can see why Sir_Catherine would prefer the OA over the manga if you're just not into that kind of wackiness. (I AM SO... I just like it even more. :B)

I thought the panty shot was there just to add to the significantly lighter mood of this chapter compared to the previous ones (srsly, Seras was just being hilariously careless). It makes things look more easy-going like the beginning of the manga was before Millennium was introduced (or more precisely before the discovery of an abnormal level of vampire attacks).

I hope you're exaggerating. The Hellsing manga is definitely unrealistic, but it's not complete crack. Like I mentioned earlier, we haven't had a crack scene since Volume 6.

I am exaggerating, but I'm not just talking about when he uses his gag style. I'll explain later because right now, it's like... three in the morning.

On another note, the scanslation is finally underway. The scanning process, as you all know, has been completed. The translating process is nearly complete. The scans still need to be cleaned, typeset, and proofread. I don't presume to know how long it'll take, but I reccommend that you check back here frequently for the finished product. I'll post a link to it as soon as I can, unless somebody else beats me to it.

Well, the End of Hellsing is enough to pull even me out of my slumber.

So far, from what I've gleaned from the Raw, and NLK's wonderful notes, I like.

I love the level of crack in the ending, and don't find it at all to be too much. Then again, I've always seen Hellsing as a comedy; I was laughing uncontrollably during Rip's rape, for instance. That aside, part of what makes Hellsing Hellsing is that without the transition of a full page, one can go from overly-dramatic, to slapstick and cheap puns. I think we all, including Hirano, lost sight of that with this long, overly-drawn out battle at the end. It ends roughly where it begins, and I love that.

So, Alucard was just on the world's longest, and largest Binge and Purge, eh? I actually like that. It's the closest he'll ever get to being human, again.

The new Iscariot leader is named Maccabees, which could mean 'Hammer?' Given his overall similarities, in appearance to Maxwell, including the silver hair, Think Hirano gave us a Beatles reference?

Again, loved the ending, couldn't be more happy with it.

You're right, of course. The crack gives the ending a nice, full-circle feel to it.

I think I might like it better when it's translated, and even more so when it's put in a volume with the rest of the chapters. 3nodding

Yes, I suppose he was. xd

Actually, Alucard is "human" again. I've discussed this in my "man, dog, or monster" thread, which the rest of the guild seems to be avoiding like the plague. stare

I believe his name is "Makube," but it's easy to make that into "Maccabee". I prefer the Hebrew name, because he certainly doesn't look Japanese.

You know why I avoid it.

Ah well, I may poke my head in... but what I really need to do is revive your thread, you know, the "how would you have ended it" thread.
I still haven't posted my long ramble of doom in there. 3nodding

You said you wanted to wait until the series had ended before you made your decision, and...

Look! The series has ended! It's time for Suni to tell us what she thinks about the man/dog/monster debate! blaugh
