How I discovered Firefly: The internet, I suppose? I missed the series entirely while it was on air, somehow, in spite of my Buffy the Vampire Slayer love. A few years later a comic artist I liked mentioned getting to see an advance screening of Serenity, and as I'd seen a trailer and thought it looked interesting, I took my friend up on the offer to go see it when it came out. Yes, I saw the movie first, which did make things sort of sad. A few years down the road I was in college and bored, and, having seen a bit more about Firefly online since then and finally realizing, "Oh, well, if Joss Whedon made Buffy and Firefly, I'll probably like Firefly, too" I bought a used set of the series. I wound up watching it all in a week, then buying the DVD, and then buying the Collector's Edition DVD when that came out, and all the comics. I do not yet have my very own cunning hat, but it's only a matter of time before I buy one or knit it myself.
No, I cannot talk about Firefly in only once sentence. Not ever.

How I discovered Firefly: Friend wanted to watch so we did. In like a week.

How I discovered Firefly: A bunch of friends were going to see Serenity, and I thought I'd tag along, just for the company, with no idea of what kind of mind-blowing awesomeness I was about to witness. After leaving the theater, I immediately watched the series, and became addicted to all things Whedon.

How I discovered Firefly: Sisters friend lent it to us and then we saw the rest of the series from family friends. We bought the movie and then my sister bought the series.

How I discovered Firefly: Erm... A bunch of my friends told me it was intolerable that I hadn't watched Firefly. I was skeptical at first because it sounded really weird but after watching it, it was really shiny!

How I discovered Firefly: I adore the spirituality and wisdom in Joss's writing, and his sci-fi/pop culture knowledge is second-to-none. I have been a hardcore Buffy nut since I began watching it in it's second season, and after missing it for so long, looking into Firefly was the next logical step. Holy s**t, though, I never expected the show to be so amazing...possibly even better than Buffy. I have a breakdown of how Joss's writing has evolved since Buffy, but I'll save that for another time. Anyway, it's a personal rule of mine now to re-watch the whole kit n' kaboodle atleast once per month. It never gets old, never gets boring. It resonates and has an impact on me now as much as it did when I first saw it, which was at least three or four years ago.

Firefly was forcibly injected into my life by the same man who coached me into a fairly acceptable photography model. No, no n***s.
You could say it found me.
When Firefly found me, I was quite honestly about as sane as River circa 'Ariel.' Since then I've evened out a little. I can't shoot with my eyes closed, though.
Hi, I'm not new, but I'm new to you.
I totally rock a River Tam cosplay every year for halloween. Shoes are for suckers and sane people.
Being of the desk-job class, I'm around pretty regular.
I think dice lottery give-a-ways are the best kind of thread to run. I will probably run one soon, because I like sharing and numbers.
I have cats. Several of them. They don't all live in the same house, though. I'm semi-nomadic.
I'm almost a post-teen.
I'm a bad influence.
I use "shiny" in at least one sentance a day, unless the day sucks royally, in which case nothing is shiny.
I have a Bumblebee transformer sitting beneath my monitor in my little cube of employment.

How I Discovered Firefly: At first, my best friend spent a year telling me how great the show was and then my mom bought it on DVD and my brother watched it and he bugged me to watch it too so I did. I got hooked halfway through the first episode.
