Lady Bastet

PostPosted: Sun Jan 09, 2005 12:37 am

Hissing at the woman, she crouched back and watched as Nelphean attempted to flee. There was no way in hell she was going to stay there and fight all of them alone. She slinked back.

Lord Ultima looked at the two of them, Bastet and Nelphean. His penetrating glance reviewed each and every one of their characteristics and predicted their natural abilities. But he sensed something else here. Stength. Strength that almost seemed to dwarf the power of the Dark Scars. Strength beyond anything he had ever witnessed until this day. Only a small fraction of the strength could be sensed out here. The others were, without a doubt, inside. "Who are these people?" he thought, "What are they..."
He stepped up and cleared his throat and said "Greetings. I am Lord Ultima, Overall ruler of the Dark Scar Alliance. It would seem we were having a bit of a problem down here..." he fingered the handle on the shruken, he was itching to throw it at someone, "I have come to personally take care of this problem."

"Oh, I see." Nelphean said... This guy was acting far too tough for his own good. "I expected something more... grand... or at least stylish... behaps even on parr with the weakest of lords back home..." Nelphean whispered honestly not impressed. He strolled casually up beside Bastet, ignoring the minor dangers. "We-Might-Die syndrome, might as well have good company." Nelphean laughed.

She snickered at Nelphean. And then warily, she watched the others who had stopped meerly as he entered. "And out of curiosity, just how would you take care of this problem anyway? Not like it would happen, but I do wish to know."

"I would have taken a grander ride here, but I was in a hurry. Besides, someone stole my private airship." Lord Ultima glanced at Vik, the obvious suspect. "And don't give me sass, boy! I'll cut off your tongue."
He turned to Bastet. "I think our intentions were obvious from the start. Kill Vik Maytron and we'll be on our way. And how hard can it be? I mean, all I gotta do is give them one quick swipe and the job's over. Please don't make this any harder than it already is. Do yourselves a favor and step aside."

Nelphean locked eyes with the proud thing. "Now what Bastet?" Nelphean asked, he looked at Monolith who wore a small scar on his chest plate. "I will support your choice..." Nelphean did not like this situation, why woud the villain ask a friend to step aside, they should know the answer to that...

Noting Nelphean's words she nodded. "Why do you want him dead? Is he a threat to you for some reason? What did he do? As a friend I have a right to know." She stood where she was and actually leaned casually on Nelphean propping an arm on his shoulder. The battle had tired her some, adrenaline was leaving her, but she refused to move. "You could kill him right now, so what are you afraid of? Us?"

"That would be why I call you sweet Bastet... You are very courageous." Nelphean said, accepting her light weight... "He knows I am down to my last few spells, and none of 'them' can help us..."

She smiled up at him, "Nice to know the reason behind the name otherwise unfitting for me." She turned to watching Ultima again, and waited for his response. "I am just plain tired."

"I will drop the barrier once we have entered the manor..." Nelphean eyed the Ultima. "Then, I guess he is yours... Nothing we can do to save him..." Where is a watcher when you need him.

Nelphean began to walk towards the manor with Bastet. Monolith followed closely behind, tryig to cover as much space as physically possible.

"He is a threat. He knows too much. I have no reason to tell you. You'll find out soon enough." Ultima looked between the two in front of him. "What a nuisance." he thought. He had ordered the elimination of Vik over an hour ago and nobody seemed to be making progress. The saying was true; if you want it done right, you've gotta do it yourself. He started to walk towards Vik. Reaching into his cloak, he drew out a paper talisman. "Plane of Seperation!" he whispered. The peice of paper burst into flames in the air. A wall of shadows emerged on both sides of him, shutting off all contact from the world. "Beat on it all you want." he shouted through the walls, "It'll only go away with time or when you're finished with it." He stood above Vik, bradishing his Giant Shruken, "Don't worry. This is going to be quick and painless. Rune Savior II!" he called. One of the blades on his shruken extended. With one swipe, the barrier fell apart in two peices. "I wish you a swift journey to the underworld!" Ultima said laughing, he raised the shruken above his head and brought it crashing down on Vik. Just then, a single lightning bolt sprang out of Vik's back and repeled Ultima. Ultima stumbled backwards and stared confused at Vik. "No," he thought as two glass centered wings burst out of Vik's back, both on his left side, "That's impossible. It can't be active. Not in your condition." Vik slowly opened his eyes. They glowed sky blue and had no iris or pupil(are they the same thing?). They were just a blank shade of blue. His expression was blank, as if he was being controled by something. He slowly got up and started walking towards Ultima, each step he took froze the earth beneath his feet. "No! Stay back!" Lord Ultima hurled the Shruken at him, but he caught it and threw it back down at his feet. He raised his hand and flicked his wrist, talking in a strange language forgotten by man. Three more lightning bolts shot down from the sky. Ultima dodged two and managed to deflect the third. Vik raised both of his hands and chanted more words. A hurricane started to form above Ultima. Bolts of lightning struck random places. Ultima had enough common sense to know that he would not survive this. Right before a tornado almost hit him, he grabbed his shruken and shadow-walked out of the plane. He signaled for the Elite to halt all their actions. "Return to the Citadel. Don't ask why!" and with that, he dispersed into a cloud of smoke. One by one, the Elite members did the same. Vik once again collapsed onto the floor. The wings on his back began to shrink as the walls of shadows started to fade. When his plane was finally reconnected, he was already back to normal. A feather with a glass center laid across his back, but no other signs of the wings existed.

"Or you could do that ." Nelphean said. Monolith intercepted some of the bolts, which regenerated his chest-plate. "Should we take him inside?" Nel asked Bastet.

Bastet listened as the scene played out behind her, and she headed towards the manor with Nelphean. She remembered the lightning bolts from earlier. "The battle was all for naught accept letting them all be there to witness that a power was awakened, and possibly scaring them off for a while."

With a playful tone in her voice she smiled, "We could always leave him." Then she sighed, "Yes, we should do at least that much, let us take him inside." She turned back to him.

Nelphean walked to the mageling, and easily lifted the human. "I sware, if all our sworn enemies got together and decided to attack, it would be one hell of a fight..." Nelphean put the human over one shoulder like a sac. "Did you know he could do that?" Nelphean asked as he accompanied Bastet into the manor.

The first couch Nel saw was the drop off for the mage.

"Well, I am certainly tired," Nelphean bowed. "I bid you good-day..." He said, but remained visiable, which is not his custom when making an exit.

Vik started to regain conciusness. He slowly raised his head and examined his surroundings. Soon, the familiar face of Bastet was visible. "Hiya!" he said softly, with a weak smile. "Nice weather we're having today, eh?" His head slumped back down to the ground. "Cancel my funeral, but keep the gifts." he mumbled as he passed out.
