Well, on the only point I feel a need to comment on is the American airing of MGS. It was pulled early because, I'll get alot of heat for this, the series can be extremely boring at times. Hell, it didn't even do well in Japan when it launched. I think it would have been much smarter to air the 3 movies instead.

I think MGS was way too serious for the Cartoon Network crowd. So, it failed.

I think Gundam has the potential to relaunch her, but I honestly don't know. I mean, I think the anime segment of Adult Swim is half as popular as it use to be. The only new shows coming in are the comedy ones. So, I really just don't know.

2nd Gig just showed up, along with Eureka Seven. Plus, BLEACH will be added in the fall. So " The only new shows coming in are the comedy ones"=WRONG!

Alright, I haven't been keeping up as I should. But asides from Bleach, it's not like they're laying down bombs. I think Eureka Seven bombed aswell, hence it was shifted to the back of the line-up. I think they had a small transition slide making fun of it.
New info says Adult Swim is putting Destiny on as well. Now it's only a matter of time before we see X and Turn A...

Do you really think so? If Destiny goes over well, then I suppose they'll put other Gundam on. So, it's important that we all watch this?
Are you nuts? do you have any idea how much Destiny sucked a**?
I'll go pirate a Turn-A fansub, thank you.

I understand that it sucks a**..but it's kind of like..um..*Thinks of an example*

I'm not ripping on anyone; the talk of youtube just reminded me of something.

I've always wondered why people complain so much about how Bandai is reluctant to bring over Gundam series, and then go off to watch the series via Bittorrent or youtube instead of buying it. If we want more Gundam here, we actually have to give Bandai a reason to send it over--meaning buy their freakin' DVDs!

First. I own most of the Gundam DVD's.

Second. Bandai is a toy company. Them having the rights to Gundam makes me sad. sweatdrop

I wasn't aiming that at anyone specifically. wink

Also, why is it so bad that Bandai is the company bringing Gundam to North America? They don't do a particularly bad job. It could be worse: TOKYOPOP could be the one releasing Gundam series here. That would be a disaster...

Well, Tokyo Pop does some of the Manga, doesn't it? Ecole De Ciel and such?

TP so far has only done well on Astray R and Ecole Du Ciel, and that's just because of their new translators. But, they take WAY too long releasing the Manga volumes...

Here's a hint: I lost all respect for TOKYOPOP when they didn't attempt to correct themselves after confusing a Gundam SEED Astray character's gender...

Bandai pretty much owns gundam in america, they bring it over here and make the toys and stuff.

TP is a manga company, they also do some anime to.

I thought Ecole De Ciel was done very well.

Tokyo Pop has already tarnished Initial D, so they're on my bad list.

Alright, now to make good on what I said.

Gundam SEED Astray was mutilated by TOKYOPOP. While we can ignore the mix-up between the Izumo and the Kusanagi (after all, they are both of the Izumo-class), and maybe even the blurb in volume one about Coordinators being telepathic (they aren't), I will never, ever, ever forgive them for what they did to Rondo Gina Sahaku.

They said that Rondo Gina was female. However, he's not. Rondo Gina is a man. Rondo Mina Sahaku, his sister, is a woman. He's not.

And then, instead of apologizing for the mix-up, TOKYOPOP said this in Gundam SEED Astray R volume three in its blurb about Rondo Gina (quoted here exactly as it was written):

"The andogynous head of the Sahaku clan, one of the five most powerful families of ORB Federation. Is Rondo a boy or a girl? It seems no one is entirely certain."

This, of course, is grade-A bullshit. He's been confirmed to be a man, not only in the Gundam SEED Astray manga, but the Gundam SEED Astray novel as well. TOKYOPOP is simply trying to play off their mistake without having themselves look bad, which is utterly ridiculous.

Then, with Mobile Suit Gundam Ecole Du Ciel, besides refering to the Cosmic Era once or twice, they started messing with the names of the Mobile Suits. The TGM-79C GM that the pilots use to train is refered to in the original publication (if I remember correctly) as the "Canard," not the "Jim." This, of course, feeds into the "ugly duckling story" symbolism: eventually, Asuna Elmarit will get a much more powerful Mobile Suit, the MSS-008 Le Cygne.

And in case you don't know what "canard" and "cygne" mean, they mean "duck" and "swan" in French, respectively.

Not to mention the fact that they just couldn't seem to decide how to spell Erisia Nokton's name. rolleyes

Du Ciel is forgivable, though, since "Jim" is the common pronounciation for all GM units.

Astray R's blurb doesn't count. It's not part of the Manga itself. Plus, it's a different translator than the original Astray.

Yes, Astray original's translation sucked. They even made Lowe into a pottymouth a*****e (Always shouting "********" and "s**t", instead of the original generic "Huh?" and "What?"). However, the Translator was fired recently and replaced, so stop whining. At least it's not as bad as the Wing translation... ("If those boys don't stop, they'll lose their Gundams!")

EDIT:Actually, the G-FAQs boards were confused about this for a while, then some SEED game came out with Gina having a DEEP, MASCULINE voice. It seems that Bandai went to extra lengths to prove that Gina was a man...

Yes, but the point is that they totally left out the "Canard" and instead decided to simply nickname it the "Jim," which it's decidedly not called in the Japanese version. There, it's the "GM Canard." The two aren't really even close...

Uh, yes, it actually is. It's in the very front of the manga, where it "introduces" you to the characters. That section was there in the Japanese release, too, apparently, and says nothing about confusion over Rondo Gina's gender.

But that, of course, isn't the point. The point is that TOKYOPOP messed up and, instead of owning up to it, decided to skip around it. Hardly profssional.

TOKYOPOP has always done a crappy job of editing, and their translation prowess leaves much to be desired. However, I was fairly impressed at how few errors I found in volume 3 of Mobile Suit Gundam Ecole Du Ciel and the first volume of Mobile Suit Gundam Lost War Chronicles.

Du Ciel Volumes 3+ is the new Translator.
Lost Chronicals... Hell if I know why Lost Chronicals was so good...

Okay. So we can be glad it wasn't TOKYOPOP... But still. Bandai is only in it to sell their toys.
