Kim watched as Ater walked off with the man. She glanced around the room, and then decided to wander over to the shelf of jars. She walked right up to the shelf and squinted at the old, paper labels on each bottled item. Some looked just like liquid, but were actually chemicals. Kim realized, with some hesitation, that most of them had the power to burn through her skin. Other jars held such things as bottled animals and other unidentifiable objects.
"I see you find our materials of interest."
She turned around to see a small woman, glaring up at her. While Kim was known for being short, this woman was shorter still. No bigger than the side of an office desk. She had large, coke-bottle glasses and slicked back hair. Her lab coat was neatly buttoned up and she had a clipboard in her hand.
"Yeah," Kim said, "I was wondering what sort of things you guys used in your studies. Do you use any of these?"
"Of course," She sniffed, looking at Kim like she was a two-year-old. "But our experiments are none of your concern."
"I didn't mean to be nosy," Kim stated, backing up a bit. Chill out...
"What are you doing here anyway, Turk?" The woman demanded.
"I'm waiting for a friend." She said, soundly. "His name is Ater. He went -"
"Ah!" The woman whooped, "You expect me to believe that! I was here when the Turks watched this department with a close eye. You cannot tell me that you haven't started to watch us again. Just when I thought we had gained back our freedom..."
"Look..." Kim gurgled, feeling nervous. She didn't feel very comforatable with this lady. However, she knew what the short one was talking about. The Turks, many years ago, did follow the going-ons of the science and medicine department. It was even known that one Turk had acted as a bodyguard for a scientist before. The Turks had elevated since then, and now served under the president's orders, as well as the higher Turks. They still did dirty work, but now they were more diverse.
"I don't believe you!" Swiftly, the woman grabbed Kim by the coat tails and tossed her in the opposite direction.
"!" Kim hit the other wall and bit back a groan of pain. She stood up, adjusting her glasses and staring back at the woman in disbelief. How could she be that strong? She must have done something to herself to get such superhuman strength!
The woman let out a cry and charged at Kim, eyes shining dangerously. As she approached, Kim rolled out of the way and tried to kick her down. The lady grabbed her leg, mid-kick, and knocked Kim onto her back. "I'll show you Turks an experiment!"
Somwhere, out of Kim's line of vision, a beep sounded and a trap door opened. The lady grabbed Kim, still a little stunned, by the tie and dragged her over to the gaping hole. She held Kim over the edge, cackling to herself. Kim scratched at the woman's hands and tried to kick herself free, but the woman was like an unmovable rock. The pit, she noticed, was filled with a slimy purple goo... and she bet that it wouldn't just taste like jello. She gulped and hoped that Ater, anyone, would help her before this crazed lady dropped her.

After having sat in the chair in the lab for a little, getting used to having a limb he couldn't feel, Ater stood up and calmly walked out of the door. Wandering his way back towards where he had last seen Kim, he heard a bit of a commotion. Normally he wouldn't have been interested in the inner conflicts of the company employees, but overhearing the word 'Turks' did perk his interest quickly.
Upon rounding the corner nearest to the commotion Ater saw what had to be one of the strangest sights he had ever seen in his life. Excluding the fact he instantly recognised Kim, he was amused at the fact that a person was being held upside down, by a woman that looked like she hadn't lifted anything heavier than a pen all of her life.
Calmly walking up behind the woman he began to speak as he got within a few feet of the woman. "Having fun Kim?"
As soon as the woman began to turn Ater's brand new left hand streaked out, the back of his brand new hand crashing squarely into the woman's face as she turned from the surprise of someone having seemingly appeared behind her. The woman's hand opened as she flew backwards, crashing into a wall, blood already staining the white lab coat she was wearing.
Not missing a beat Ater grabbed Kim's released foot with his right hand and lifted her up as high as he could. "And to think, you were hogging all the fun." He laughed lightly and calmly dropped Kim on her head next to the hole she had been hanging over. "We never did think these boffins had the brains to do anything with architecture." He chuckled again before squatting down and looking at Kim. "Let yah guard down?" he raised his voice a little to drown out the violent cussing and screaming of the woman he had just sucker-smacked into the wall. Calmly looking at his left hand he flexed the fingers as best he could, at least it was sturdy, even if he couldn't work it fluidly yet.

Aleksandr spent some time eating by himself, knowing that no one would come and sit with him. He stood up slowly after a time, reaching down for his tray. He picked it up off of the table top and shuffled over to the garbage recepticle nearby. He stood in another line, waiting to throw out the remnants of food on his tray.
Aleksandr turned on his heel, accidentally knocking the tray a secretary had held out before her, backward onto her blouse. "Uh, I'm sorry. I didn't see you there," Aleksandr muttered as he blushed from embarassment.
"Sorry? Sorry?" the Secretary screamed as silence fell over the cafeteria. "What do you mean sorry? Who's going to pay for this? It's ruined!" she continued bellowing at the top of her lungs.
Aleksandr backed up against the wall as the secretary encroached on him. Her female coworkers spread out, blocking him in. "You're gonna get it freak!" they shouted in unison.
"Freak huh?" Aleksandr asked as he glared at the three, getting uptight because of the feeling of claustrophobia coming over him. He balled his hands up into tight fists and brought them up, ready to fight his way out of the pack of secretaries.
"So? You'd be willing to hit a girl? Well now, we see what kind of guy you are," the first secretary said with a laugh as she turned to walk away. "Come on girls, this newbie isn't worth our time."
"Sheesh, what got into them. I apologized and everything and they were going to jump me anyway. Aiya," Aleksandr moaned as he dropped his fists to his sides and let out a breath. "I was scared for my life back there," he muttered as he turned and walked out of the cafeteria as the talking resumed, taking careful steps so as no to cause another scene.

"Having fun Kim?"
Kim stared up past the crazy lady, seeing the looming figure that could only belong to Ater. She swore she could hear the amusment in his voice, or maybe it was just her embarressment. In a swift moment, Ater's hand met the lady's face and blood splattered as she was knocked to the side. She felt the grip on her foot disappear - only to be grabbed by Ater's hand. Sighing with relief, she waited for Ater to her back up.
"And to think, you were hogging all the fun."He dropped her unceremoniously on her head, causing Kim to yelp and rub the new bump.
"Hey!" She grumbled, flashing him a dirty look. He said something about architecture- probably reffering to the seemingly random pit of goo, and then knelt down beside her. "Let yah guard down?"
"Yeah," She sighed, looking away. "I know, I should have been paying attention..." Her gaze shifted over to the cursing woman, "... but really, who think that someone like that could..."
When Ater flexed his hand, her sentence slipped away. Why? Because she noticed, quite sure she was right, that he flexed a hand that should not have been there. Perpexed, she quickly grabbed his hand and studied it, turning to over and ignoring any weird looks she assumed she got from Ater. It felt so real, like he had never been without one... "Ater," She asked, puzzled, "How did you get this? You lost your hand - where did-?"
The Lady slammed her hand against the wall, shooting a glare at the two of them while wiping drool from her lips. She seemed to growl lowly while she brushed off the blood.
Though she knew the lady was far from done, and steaming mad, Kim wanted to hear first her probbing questions answered, and then get ready for the next attack.

Aleksandr wandered around, trying to find his room, but couldn't remember for the life of him where it was. He stumbled through the elevator and pushed a button for a random floor. He waited, staring out at Midgar from the glass elevator. He heard the ding of the door and turned and stepped out of the elevator.
He looked aound at the hall that before him and he crossed the threshold. "Strange, this isn't the dormitories either. This looks more like some kind of laboratory facility," Aleksandr said as he turned to step back onto the elevator. However, he heard the familiar voices of Kim and Ater. He turned, catching the door before it closed behind him and after a little effort wrenched it back open and stepped into the lab.
Aleksandr wandered around, following the sound of their voices, until he stumbled upon the scene of Kim, Ater, and a strange-looking, embittered, scientist woman. Aleksandr stayed back before jumping into the confrontation. He noticed that the woman was bleeding and wondered who had started this fight. "I'll just stay right here until I know which side I should be helping" Aleksandr muttered to himself as he leaned against the wall and watched from a safe distance.

"We can't feel that y'know." Ater chuckled "It's not real." He was glad that they had at least supplied him a glove as well, it would look strange walking around with a metal hand. Ater didn't need more excuses for people to look at him strangely. His face did that enough when his hair shifted while walking. Those scars just didn't look normal.
"Now." He stood up slowly and looked sidelong at the woman against the wall "Do we need to throw you another hint?" his lips broke into a manic grin, he was enjoying himself "We could have killed you three times over by now" he let out another chuckle, a much lower one "But, this isn't out fight. So...." He trailed off, looking at Kim "Do you wish to do the honours? Or are we going to make their walls all messy?" Ater was slipping into a dangerous mood, maybe he needed some of his meds, but now wasn't exactly the time to take some, they made him loose focus easily too.

"You can't feel it?" She asked, looking down at the new hand. It must have been a fake hand, nothing more. Still, if it could do the job, it really was a blessing it was there.
The small woman started to move, and Ater seemed to nestle into his fighting mode again. She should practically feel the tension rising from him - he had not fought, like the rest of the Turks, since the building ambush. "Now." He stood up slowly and looked sidelong at the woman against the wall "Do we need to throw you another hint?" his lips broke into a manic grin, he was enjoying himself "We could have killed you three times over by now"
Kim could understand his need to fight, for she felt the same way. Her gloved fingers slightly twitched as she stood there, tempted to grab for her gun, or her materia - whatever she felt like using. Since she was not injured, and just loafed around for the past few days, she could hardly blame herself. Still... it would be unlike her to just charge the woman; she always considered herself the level-headed one. Or at least, she tried to be.
"Now," Kim started, "Please stay where you are. I don't know why you decided to take your frustrations out on me but please, stop now." Kim put out a hand, warning her to stay back. "Whatever you feel now, those times are over. The Turks have a different type of job now, no longer connected to the science department. So," She gulped, "Stop."

Ater kept his eyes fixed on the other woman as Kim spoke. After all, he was a trained fighter, and a half-crazed yet good one at that, he wasn't going to let down his guard while there was still any kind of threat to himself or a companion nearby. Without moving his eyes he started speaking "Kim, we have places to be, and we're not just talking about ourself here. We need to leave." His head turned to face the woman that seemed to have regained some of her composure "Kim's to nice for her own good, but we swear if you try anything stupid when we go to leave, the department's going to be picking up bits of your organs for weeks." He snarled lightly at the woman.
Turning slowly Ater grabbed Kim and began walking her away before anybody had anything more to say. That's when Ater saw something interesting "You" his eyes narrowed as he saw the rookie he'd met earlier keeping an eye on the situation "We're not gonna even ask" he bore down on the man "But yer coming with us, we're sure we've got some paperwork you can do for us." His left hand grabbed the man by the shoulder, a tad harder than he should have, though Ater still couldn't really control the power of the had he'd just gotten, hell, he couldn't even feel it after all.

"Paperwork eh? And you expect me to do it? Well, whatever, I'm in a generous mood" Aleksandr said with a smile, trying to mask the discomfort he was feeling because of Alter's grip on his shoulder.
Aleksandr wandered with Kim and Ater out of the laboratory and into the elevators. He looked out the window of the glass tube and waited for one of the others to select a floor. He, of course, had no idea where anything was so he thought it best to leave it up to the seasoned employees of Shinra.
Aleksandr turned around after a short while of staring out the window and looked over at Kim. "So we meet again. You look a bit flushed," Aleksandr commented casually, hoping to pry answers to his previous question out of Kim because Ater seemed less approachable.

Kim was glad to be dragged out of the room, almost relieved. If the woman did try anything, Kim betted Ater would be the first target. And if that was true... let's just say the woman's time would have been up. although it was fun to battle wits with Ater, she knew it would be foolish to get into a physical fight with him. Insane.
She was suprised to see Aleksandr standing outside. He must have been watching, Kim mused, poor new guy. She twinched a little when Ater's hand gripped Aleksandr's shoulder. It was safe to say Ater would need practice with his new hand. She half-listened to the two of them speak about paperwork, idlly wondering if she had any to do herself. They stepped into the elevator and Kim saw Aleksandr staring at her.
"So we meet again. You look a bit flushed." He commented casually.
"Oh yeah," Kim sighed, wondering how much she should say. She smiled at him, "That lady almost tossed me into a pile of goo. I doubt I would have survived that one if I had fallen into that hole." She paused, editing her words. He would learn... eventually. "She just lost it."

"Hmm, I see. Well, being shacked up in a laboratory all day without any sunlight will tend to make people a bit irritable," Aleksandr said with a nod.
He closed his eyes and crossed his arms, slumping down, back sliding across the smooth glass of the cylinder they were riding in. He sighed as he reached a sitting position on the elevator floor. He yawned slightly, covering his mouth with his right hand, eyes still closed.
"You know, as much as I hate to admit it, it really is good to get outside once and awhile. It's actually pretty nice to just go and take a nap or even a casual stroll. We should go out on a walk sometime," Aleksandr said, making no indication if the invitation was meant for just Kim or for Ater as well, mostly because he didn't care who all went because he just didn't want to be alone.

A light ringing and vibrating in Ater's jacket made him reach into it, his phone being pulled out, flicked open and placed to his ear in one fluid motion. "Ater here" his voice was as calm as his face as soon as he started listening. Calmly with his free hand he reached over and pressed the button for floor 66.
"Understood." With that he clicked his phone closed again and replaced it into his jacket pocket before turning to look at the others. "Well, it seems we're about to get a propper mission now. The high ups want to see us all in the boardroom." He grinned "We do hope we get to kill some stuff finally, it seems like ages since we last gotta go full out."
Calmly folding his arms he gazed out of the tube as the lift quickly slid towards the designated floor. Well, he really had no clue what was going on, all he knew was that Scarlet had called up the Turks. Something had to be up.

"A mission huh? Awesome. I'll finally get to see if all of my training was worth it," Aleksandr mused aloud as he fidgeted in the sitting position. He felt the elevator hum as it began moving toward the 66th floor.
"I guess our walk will just have to wait," Aleksandr said again, looking down at his shoes and wondering what type of mission it would be. He sighed and tilted his head back, resting it against the glass as he yawned slightly.
"I wonder what type of mission this'll be," Aleksandr said as he felt the elevator slow down and then stop. As the doors slid open Aleksandr got to his feet, stifled a yawn and then wandered out of the elevator. "Here we are, floor 66," Aleksandr said excitedly as he started looking around. "Now where is the boardroom?" he pondered to himself as he waited for Ater and Kim to follow him out of the elevator and show him the way.

Kim was just as curious as Aleksandr, but perhaps more eager. With nothing to do, free time seemed more like a waste of time. She would rather be working than bored. As the elevator door opened, she stepped out next to Ater, followed by Aleksandr.
She turned to the new Turk, smiling, "Just follow us; the boardroom isn't too far." She paused, "Aren't you excited about your first mission? I know I was." She knew she sounded too giddy for the serious summons, but she could not help it. She hoped her fellow Turks would understand

"I am as excited as the situation will allow. At the moment I have no idea what the mission is so there is no reason to get overly excited. But at the very least I get to go outside...well, hopefully anyway," Aleksandr replied. His tone had completely changed, as did his body language. He stood taller and looked less relaxed. His eyes became sharp and oddly cold.
As they approached the boardroom Aleksandr's steps became more slow and rythmatic. Each step he took was in perfect time and the swaying of his arms with each step proceeded much the same way. When the three of them finally reached the boardroom, Aleksandr looked up at the large double doors for a moment before reaching out and touching the handle. His heart started to beat faster in his chest as excitement, fear, anger, and a myriad of other emotions welled up inside of him.
He opened the door and stepped inside a room filled with bright fluorescent lights. He crossed the red velvet carpet and made his way to the long oak table and took a seat in the chair nearest to the door.
