Her eyes stayed glued to the floor despite Bastet's words and actions. Of course she heard everything, saw all the actions, but refused to respond to them. Old habits died hard, but she was living in a time where the habits were still in place. She knew it to, but she couldn't shake off the forced learned reactions. She swallowed and took a breath, daring the challenge of the situation, and said almost inaudibly. "I'm sorry..." Apologize for getting yourself slapped and causing trouble when the prompt to arises.

"By the gods.." She turned away and stared at the sink. How did this get so messed up? One minute she was feeling ready to cry the next she was slapping around a defenseless muddled girl who was her friend. Niah slowly cut everything out around her and focused in on Bastet. Her neutralness was perfect for calming her senses. They had been on high alert ever since the dreams and it seemed it was getting easier and easier for her to lose control. She slowly took a deep breath and felt all the anger leave her. In it's place was an acute sadness and remorse. "She's not going to listen Bastet. She's in a different mindset. She is remembering her reactions to her father. I think I just became her father to her mind. Dammit. I never wanted this to happen." She took another breath. "Aurahkah it's alright. You can speak now." She sighed. "I jsut feel like everything that makes me feel this way is his fault. I haven't been this sensitive in a long time. It's all his fault...I usually can control it...now...."

Sighing she stood beside Aura and rubbed her temples. "Look, your dad is far away, even speaking in time and not distance." Setting one hand on her unrecognizable friend's shoulder, she continued, "It was just a loss of control in an already hectic situation. Why do you not concentrate on the pieces of gold we brought up, and see if you can think of anything. And say anything you think of. Nailah is not your father, remember how you should feel about her as a friend. Remember and just go with the flow, concentrate on something else."

Turning back to Nailah who had her back to her, and in a very even voice, she soothed, "Well, maybe he has made you sensitive. When you first came here however, you had trouble comtroling it. Then you got control, and now something bad happens and you have trouble contoling it. That is not necessarily your fault, however, we can try and concentrate on getting rid of the problem, Ay, and things will be better."

Standing up she moved over to the bar again, and got out drinks for Saradin, Ryo, or anyone that might want them.

Nailah nodded. She said, "I know that I have become more sensitive but it still doesn't excuse it." She sighed and walked to the table looking at the gold. Trying desperately to get back to the easy camaraderie they once had. "So how do we know which one of these objects he's using? We can't destroy them all. That's a major waste of gold." She tossed the pendant into Aura's lap. "So one who remmebers more than me or Bastet. What do we do?"

she stared down at the pendant in her lap for a moment before raising her eyes back up, looking at both Bastet and Nailah. Taking the pendant in her hand she studied it. "You need something that detects souls...a spell, or something that can do it. That would be the quickest way." She gave a nod and then set the pendant down on the table, folding her hands back into her lap but keeping her gaze up.

Bastet looked at the various trinkets, and took out the ring she had nabbed as well. At least they were working together again. Promptly she smacked herself on the head and laughed. "Is that all? See that other bangle you are wearing Aura? You gave them to Eclipse and he gave me one. They have soul detecting stones in them." Shaking the bangle she had she thought a moment, "But are we sure getting rid of him will bring back her memories and not lock them away forever?"

Niah stopped in reaching for the crown. "You know what Bastet you're right. Maybe we should hold off on destroying anything. If he does hold the only key to her memories and he gets destroyed then she may never become her old self. And frankly I want the old Aura back." She picked up the crown and held it in her hands. "As much as I'd love to smash this to little pieces I will refrain for Aura's sanity as well as my own." She waited for a moment. "I think it might be better if we left this alone for a little while. Perhaps turn our attention elsewhere?"

"But then again what about your dreams! There has to be something we can do. Niether of you should suffer anymore." Bastet had to leave the decision up to them, "Is there even a way we can tell if it safe to kill him or not? Should we go ahead with it or not?" She hated hard decisions.

"We all know how Egyptian magic works. It's like fire. Play with it and you'll get burned. I think that perhaps we should leave it alone for now until we're all not so wound up from dead bodies being crucified on front doors and the like." She almost said the entire sentence devoid of emotion. Rising from her chair in rehearsed style, she nodded to the two people she knew were friends. "Thank you..." Turning from them both without explanation of the comment she walked from her kitchen and to the room she apparently shared with Vincent. She stood in the middle of it for a moment, staring at the name on the wall. "Why do you want this so badly..."

Bastet nodded and picked up the items to keep them safe. Winding down was always a good thing, she needed to get do that. She nodded to Nailah, "I need a shower. I will see you later." After walking rather quickly to her room, she cleaned herself thoroughly and sat on the bed looking at the items. Taking her bangle, she sat with them and examined them.

"I don't think it's a good idea to play with anything until Aura is back to her normal self." She watched Aura go and heard her thanks. "Wonder what that was for? Slapping her? Shaking her? Causing her more pain?" Niah sighed. "Ah I'm really not worried about it. I will see you later Bastet." She walked in the open vault and and locked it holding onto the key. Then she walked to Alex's room and climbed back into bed. Hopefully now she could sleep.

Saradin's body was on fire, his eyes burned more than anything else. And clutched in his hand was the source, an empty bottle of whiskey. Sunlight scorched his vision even before he could open his eyes and he tried to comprehend where he was. Up on the roof, apparently, he must have come up here to get away from it all. Prying himself up into a sitting position, he tried to clear away the nightmare. A corpse being nailed to their door, intestivnes hanging free and blood drenching everything. But it was very real, and he had in fact witnessed Elias as he placed the finishing touches on his grotesque artwork. For some reason though, he couldnt focus on even that, his mind hurt to think and every sound was like a jackhammer. "Damn it, when exactly did I start drinking heavily again?" He asked the air, never actually intending to get an answer.

"Probably about the same time you found us. Do you always sleep up here or what?" Idalla said as she rubbed her temples some yards away, trying to look over the railing onto the courtyard. And leaning against the door leading in, Calcryx lay curled up in a ball, an odd position for such an esteemed old man.

Niah blinked and opened her eyes. She was laying against a warm chest and Alex's arms were once again settled at her waist although now they weren't tight. She thought of what had happened earlier that morning and felt her stomach lurch. Holding her mouth she sprang from the bed and ran to the bathroom. Once there she hit her knees and began to empty her stomach. When she was finished she leaned back against the wall. The image was never going to leave her mind. She leaned forward and hurled again.

She remembered lying there for hours upon hours, thinking then re-thinking things. She couldn't say that she hadn't been shook up from being slapped and such, or seeing a dead body. It was all too much. She had just wanted to be back to the 'normal' her that everyone had been speaking of. Sleep eventually found her though, two hours ago as she lie there staring at the silk sheets of the bed.

They sat around the chest, the little one poking at it every now and again. "No really, it did something earlier."
"Stop messing with it. You're doing no good. And thanks to you we have to sit here because you already pulled all the book down and found the ones that needed fixing."
"If you hadn't of made Vincent mad, maybe he could of helped. But you're always yelling at people! Always, even me..."
"Someone has to look out for things here. Why do you think we're always together? Because someone has to watch you and take care of you. You believe anything anybody says...how do you know that he's even the Vincent she knows?"
"Because!" Standing up she ripped a book from the shelf, and although pictures were torn, she turned the book to the other, a name, picture and a few words gracing the pages. "See, he's right here."
"Too trusting...that could be something planted there."
"And you are too untrusting."

Aura rolled over in bed in sleep that was both restful and restless all at the same time. She felt like she was dreaming again, yet for some reason she knew she wasn't. Drawing her knees up unconsciously in sleep she gave a soft groan, curling up into a ball in the middle of the bed.

Shin looked around sleepily, finding herself on the couch in the living room, wincing as she moved her hands, covered in her own blood, wich she looked distastefully at, sitting up, and looking around curiously.

Then it hit her.

she shuddered, rembering the horrendus scen tacked to the door the day before. blue eyes closed tightly, she shook her head, the memory of the sight bringing with it the memory of the stench.

Never, in her years, had she seen anything that twisted, utterly unfeeling, with no regard with people. Never.
