Saradin stood in the failing light, inside the still partly collapsed barrier that Vik had constructed for the tournament of his. Within, his blade spun and struck at phantom targets as he practiced. His body tumbled and spun in mock dodges, while removing his holstered gun to aim, only to return it and favor his sword again. Soulforge moved with magnificent grace, its strokes lighter and stronger than before. Time and again he practiced manuevers, seemingly at random but with careful planning in mind. Sweat beaded and fell as he strained his body, preping it and keening his skills endlessly.

Aura sat up in her bed, hair haphazardly tousled, only one eye open. Rubbing at her eyes she dragged herself out of bed and dressed, then brushed and braided her hair quickly to keep it out of her way. The task finished she lazily made her way from her room. She used the wall for support as she walked, still feeling the effects of fatigue from the previous day's battle.

After nearly an entire day of sleep, Saradin's body was rejuvenated, but needed excercise. The results of his endeavor rattled the reforming tournament walls, bolts of broken gales rebounding off its field. The training stepped itself up when rays of blue power arched around Saradin as he fought nothing, eventually spiraling out and consuming the arena with an incredible conflagration.

And Aura barely made it to the kitchen, slumping down into a chair at the table. She honestly didn't expect to feel this bad. Perhaps it was the intensity of magic she had used combined with the physical strain of the battle that was just draining her. Perhaps it was a side effect to being phased by Khenu...that had definitely been something out of the ordinary. Aura crossed her arms on the table, and leaned her head on her arms, staring at the far wall.

Eventually, the spectacle ground to a halt, all flames withdrawing to whence they came and Saradin dropping to his knees, then onto his hands. Heavy breathing took him as the drawn out session broke his body, and he refused to draw upon his own energy source when so uneeded. Dragging himself up, relying on natural strength, he limped back into the manor. So depleted it was only natural to wander in search of fuel. Into the kitchen he staggered.

Eclipse popped up off the floor as Saradin had entered and followed him to the kitchen, actually pressing past him to enter first. He sat on the floor between where Aurahkah sat, and where Saradin would enter, watching between the two. Was he really the only one who wasn't tired? He made a general bark as if asking the question.

Aura made an annoyed sound and waved a hand at him in a 'hush you're mouth I'm tired gesture'. "Not everyone can be as chipper as you all the time..." The words were mumbled, almost incoherent as he recrossed her arms.

"Eclipse..." Saradin leaned on the door frame, looking in. "I'm blocking out my connection with that energy now. The battle is won and I can make it own my own strength." He moved slothfully towards a chair and fell into it, just sitting and staring for the longest time. "All I need is some time to recooperate." Then back to silence as his breathing struggled to keep going.

Aura turned her head to look at Saradin and sat up in hr chair, covering her mouth with a hand as she yawned. "Hello Saradin...I see you're having just as much fun as I am...can I get you anything?" She brushed her bangs out of her eyes and leaned back in her chair.

The wolf laid down in the middle of the floor, letting his wings slack as he did so, just idly watching the two at the table, his tail swishing back and forth.

Saradin managed to control his breathing, and closed his eyes. "Sarcasm aside, I am in fact enjoying this. This is the first time I have ever been allowed to test my own physical endurance. Throughout my long life I was always unknowingly tapping power, and never before have I actually felt so exhausted." Sinking into his chair, he tipped his head back to gaze into the ceiling. "Its strangely fulfilling to feel so drained."

Aura laughed a little. "It always feels good to feel something like that for the first time." She rolled her shoulders back, hearing them crack and she sighed, following Saradin's lead, tiliting her head back to stare at the ceiling. She couldn't agree with him on the drain thing, she felt like she had been hit by a ton of bricks. She raised an eyebrow at the ceiling. "Want some coffee?"

"Hmm... a caffine buzz." Shaky knees held Saradin aloft. "Sounds good. I'll get it." Then he set about the strangely laborious task of making a simple fresh pot of coffee. But, the delay was only within his own slowed frame of mind. Soon, he shuffled his way back to the table, carrying a pair of mugs filled with hot coffee, Setting one before Aurahkah, he monotonously returned to his own seat with slow careful steps. "Lady Aura, we have a simple request for you."

"Thank you." She sipped at the coffee then set the mug back down on the table, looking to Saradin, trying to give him the best smile she could muster in her weary state. To someone else the 'we' in his sentence might have thrown them. But she had spent several nights up with Saradin just talking with him before he left, so it was nothing new to her. "No need for formalities Saradin...what do you wish of me?"

Lead heavy hands drew out the Soulforge and nearly dropped it onto the table. "We agreed that to commemorate the events we have taken part in here we want the remade sword to carry a symbol of the manor." Saradin's fingers moved from the hilt, and touched on the faded symbol on the base of the blade that marked its original creator's insignia. "The first crafter said he poured his soul into making it, then someone really did, and now it is a symbol of all that I am and want to be. Your home brought its reconstruction and we want some symbol of it to be carried on it."

Aura watched Saradin for a long moment before her gaze slipped down to the sword on the table. A symbol of the manor? She had never really thought of it before, and the true owners had never had a real insignia to the place, there was nothing official, so it would be up to her to decide. But the decision had to be made carefully if they intended to carry it upon Soulforge. She looked to Eclipse a moment as if consulting him then back to the sword. Aura thought hard about the meaning her home had come to bear, it had brought about so many changes in anyone who had stepped through it's doors. Everyone staying here had come in with something horrible, but now were changed. Her mind ran through possibilities, then she smiled as it stopped on one. "A pheonix..." She mumbled it more to herself than to Saradin. Aura then looked up to Saradin."A pheonix..." She didn't know if it was the right thing or not but in her mind it made sense. "For everyone who has come here, has risen from something horrible to live happier than they were...'from the ashes something new shall rise', the meaning of a pheonix...I think it fits rather well..." She gave him a smile that was in itself asking if that seemed right.

Ardra

PostPosted: Sat Aug 07, 2004 9:20 pm

Ardra woke slowly and streched like a cat. It had been a long time since she had had such a relaxing sleep. Getting up she showered quickly and dressed, then made her way to the kitchen to get her traditional cup of tea.
