Yeah they cut its head of, but the nerves were still connected to the spinal cord so it lived and ended up feeding it with a dropper. 3nodding

Which means saying totally is a bit overstatement , because my dads Mom used to cut off chickens heads, and I dare say his version of totally would be a little different than , oh but some nerves were still attached....

Ok...So, I did what I do....to find the whole story and...I glanced at it and said Bullshit. However this is the part I have been trying to make clear.
Quote: The skeptical scientists were eager to answer all the questions regarding Mike's amazing ability to survive with no head. It was determined that ax blade had missed the jugular vein and a clot had prevented Mike from bleeding to death. Although most of his head was in a jar, most of his brain stem and one ear was left on his body. Since most of a chicken's reflex actions are controlled by the brain stem Mike was able to remain quite healthy.
So, as good a blow as the farmer struck he missed the juglar and part of the head, albeit a very small part as he robbed the chicken of it's primary senses....and I doubt the ear was functuioning well.
Quote: In the middle of the night Mike began to choke. Unable to find the eyedropper used to clear Mike's open esophagus Miracle Mike passed on
Thats how he died....
Quote: 18 MONTHS that Mike lived as "The Headless Wonder Chicken"
Thats how long he lived.
Given the time all this happened in , I am still inclined to think it seems like BS. It would'nt be the first or last time an elaborate hoax became legend, and although I do think it more believable with the scientific explanations, just makes me wonder if that town is'nt cashing in on a myth.
I did'nt see anything about Ripley's but it did mention Guiness...niether publication of which would suffer if partaking in some good old fashioned hyperbole and hi jinx.
So, the "technically" headless chicken indeed had the most imporatnt part of it's brain intact....and thats all I was wanting to know....
pirate
On a side note, a chickens running after being decapitated has been likened to the last bit of fear it has rip through it's nerves, the nerves with only the "flight" message left respond in kind till the heart stops pumping blood.....
