********. I just wrote a long and detailed post that was many, many paragraphs long, tried to submit it, and lost it. So. gonk
So, I'll try to capture at least some of my main points from my previous post, although I don't have time to recreate the entire thing.
Firstly, and most importantly *evil grin*....
The Major does indeed kick a**. Tank... tsk, tsk. Time for an analysis of GitS, although I'm going to ignore the 2nd gig because I have yet to watch it in is entirety (or at all, really... note to self, see Kuze...). So. Moving along then, you referred to the world of GitS as "quasi-socialist," but at the same time, nationalistic elements are still present. Moreover, government exists still with all of the trappings of bureaucratic nonsense. See the dissolution of Section 9 and its reestablishment at the end of SAC as an illustration of this. Capitalist elements are still present, hence the gynoid trade (and modifed gynoids for... other... purposes). One of the most interesting things about GitS is that both the heroes and the villains are honourable. One can always see the Major's side, but at the same time, adversaries like the Laughing Man also win one's instant respect. Also, and I apologize for the poor organization, even the Major is never really free within her society, she's very much constrained by her role within Section 9, even if it is something that she herself chose. This is a part of the reason why she made the choice that she did in the SAC movies, when she chose to seek her freedom over her physical existence.
And I'll post the rest later, I've got a paper to write first.

Because in SAC she merged into the web with the puppetmaster, at which point her identity became obscured, and she left behind the use of a physical body. In Innocence she came back for a brief scene... but she wasn't in Section 9 anymore because she physically left who she previously was, because she was no longer entirely Motoko Kusanagi... Must see Solid State Society now... This is the newest movies out of all of them it came out in America in 2006 in the fall, I recall watching it. Also number two follows up on the 1995 movie. Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. Solid State Society takes place after Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd. Here is a time line, I recall some important events. 2024 The Laughing Man Incident 2029 Formation of Section 9 2031 Section 9 Officially Disbanded Section 9 Disbanded Formation of Kayabuki Cabinet after general election Yakushima Arrested June 9 - Tachikoma AI satellite launched Section 9 reunites, never disbanded in the first place 2032 2nd GiG Between the seconded season Major Kusanagi resigns from Section 9. 2034 Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. the Tank of the Soviets T-34 If nationalism was the "death of empires" and its synthesis imperialism then what would perhaps Globalism vs Nationalism synthesis be? Doesnt matter what the westerner's do while they spread culture it is not on our hands nor in our name. It does not anger them against communist ideology it angers them about capitalism. If they wish to go reactionary nationalistic let them go into nationalistic pride isolation from the global market and see if they become self sufficent over time without aid/trade....(I have my doubts) Globalization does not create more problems unless you view more global proletarait and western influence upon the global population as a "bad thing." Marxism thrives off of westernization so wouldn't we have to be in support of westernization as a general culture for the entire globe to fullfill our overall distant ideal? If the supression is blamed upon the capitalists then let them be blamed upon but the supression that they create, creates more workers in other countries and creates less jobs so a larger unskilled workforce is unemployed. Globalism may create nationalism but it also creates more proletarait workers that are naturally conservative to industrialization. Even in India the 30% of the populace that works in the industrialized india would probably want to keep the status they are in and therefore will continue to use Western ideology and influence upon their culture. Nationalism didn't destroy empires, nationalism from other nations that fueled wars did. Regardless you did a turn in viewpoint here. Your argument here is the support of Globalization to cease Nationalism. However obviously it doesn't. We've seen the reaction to protests on May Day. No one was shouting a cease to Capitalism and to embrace Internationalism. No one mentioned unity with the workers of India. The best I heard was a cease to the actions of these companies and corporations. Now Capitalism can try to fuel itself and move around and I won't really care, because I still now it propels itself to it's own doom and demise; however supporting Capitalism to cease Nationalism isn't going to work. It's not valid and in reality we're fueling Nationalism further. If that's true we're not pushing them to Communism, but to National Socialism and Fascism. These people, if hyped up on Nationalist sentiments, aren't going to run towards Marxist ideals, they're going to run to whatever is closest to their idea and viewpoint. Since the viewpoint is Nationalism and keeping jobs it should be obvious.... Simply that's what I'm saying. Capitalism can do what it wants it will still be dismantled in the end. However supporting Capitalist actions to end an ideal isn't going to work.

Contra mundus The Leninator! We're putting out a newsletter from the GCP comrades, if anyone would like to contribute just check out the thread in the GCP (click my sig), that's our part to aid the cause on a larger scale, some of us are printing out copies and distributing them In Real Life and we're trying to get subscribers on Gaia. I have no idea what the NCS is doing, the website you guys made didn't make it, but trying again wouldn't hurt eh? Clearing it out is what I mean, just starting over and publicising a bit better. We've tried it twice actually. The only reason I didn't wish to revive the first one is that Spam bots viciously attacked it. I'll make another thread or something if I get around to it. Comrade! This is half the problem as I've observed, we need to work together and not seperatly, it will only make us stronger! If you have no newsletter currently just check the GCP, and you can copy and paste that thread here! Hell, if it's representation you want we can put the NCS logo on the paper but I think it's best if we work together on one newsletter, not compete with two. If you agree just pm me, because the key is solidarity comrade.

Having a news letter isn't a particularly bad idea - it's often hard to keep all the news straight with all the various sources available - especially one to circulate around gaia to help get people active in the organized movement for socialism.
