okay, rephrase...is there a publication out there, available in the US that has both the final chapter and the Nadsat dictionary?

Hi I've never actually seen the movie, but I did read the book. The copy I got was from the 60's (Anthony Burgess was still alive and an up and coming writer very hyped about) and had an intro and glossary. I picked it up because on imbd there was a discussion on the most horrific scenes in a movie and it was close to the top. I work at a library and saw it on a return cart and picked it up. It was destiny I tell you, I loved it. The intro said that originally Alex was cured and went back to being his violent old self (this is the copy I had), but they felt that American audiences wouldn't like that so they made him repent etc. in the end (I think that might be the final chapter I'm not sure). I wouldn't really count this as horror more as a political satire and a warning. What's scary about it is I'm a psych major and know a bit about conditioning and I see no reason why the Ludovico couldn't really work. Whats to say that years down the road were not subjected to it ourselves?

By the way I am facinated by nadsat, but my friends I doubt could make it through the entire book, so its great to find people who actually appreciate it. woah. i enjoy the work of Malcom McDowell. i cant wait to see him as Sam Loomis in the remake of Halloween. that movie makes me want to put Jack Dans in my glass of milk for some reason

I loveee A Clockwork Orange but i havent gotten a chance to read the entire book.
I wouldnt consider it a horror movie, but i thought it was quite eerie.
It's such a great and classic movie that I think it is deffinantly worth watching even if it might be a little inapropriate rolleyes
It's a shame many people aren't allowed to see it because of their parents

it's horror in its own way its that type of horror that is psychological the fact that they manage to make him live through all those pains and make him realize what its like its a horror within itself.

I love horror movies like this and its a cult classic as said before. These type of movies are ment for the type that understand more then just slashers.

although im not saying this is the best film because all the sexual stuff started to annoy me and i would be waiting for something interesting to happen.

If you'd read the book there is a description as to what "A Clockwork Orange" means, and the man (who eventually tries to murder Alex) describes that an orange is expected to be sweet, to work as clockwork, whereas a human must not be as such. And by the end of the treatment Alex shouts "do you want me to be as a clockwork orange!?", which has an effect on the doctors treating him. To be a clockwork orange is to work and be as if from clockwork, precisely how you are expected without any independent thought or other.

I read the book in parallel with Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, so it was interesting to read about the social and political differences that are created between the two.
