Julian was so busy looking around from the door that he hadn't noticed the Ehalu behidn the counter. He jumped a little in surprise when the other addressed him, his eyes lookign towards him softly. "Hello" he said, his voice small and timid. Taking a few steps forward, he let the door clsoe behind himself.
When he hasked his name, he paused, knowing his guardian had always said never give your name to a stranger. However, the little Sarus saw it rude not to reply with a correct answer. "My names Julian... its nice to meet you" He replied politely.
"Do you own th is store? its veyr nice" he said, peeking around, the u rdge to touch and play with things almost over takign him.

Alain smiled happily as the Sarus—Julian—before replying. "s'nice to meet you too, Julian." He sat back down in the chair behind the counter, lifting a hand behind his head. "I don't personally own this store, but it's my family's. See, my Da's a merchant, and when he brings stuff back from Venna and the other cities we sell it here. Some of the stuff in here I made, actually..."
Sensing the smaller boy's urge to touch something, Alain reached over the counter to grasp the duck that he had whittled earlier. "Like this, see?" He held the small statue out for Julian to take. If he liked it, Alain would probably give it to him.
His work wasn't phenomenal, but he had been doing this since he was a small child and thus was much better than the average person. It was something Da had taught him to do to pass the time until he came home again. Alain beamed at Julian. He did hope the boy would like it.

Walking closer to the counter, he peeked up at the other and nodded a little at what he said. " My Guardian owns a tavern... she says her husband used to be a Merchant..." He said softly, putting his hands behind his back.
There was so many neat things to look at, it was exciting! "You make stuff?' he asked, his eyes wide in awe as he looked at the duck. "Ducky!" he squealed a little, running a finger over the smooth wood. He loved ducks, he fed them peices of his sandwhich when he was at the waters edge. Julian loved the way they walked, waddling around like they didn't care that they looked silly.
"Thats really neat.... I've never been able to make anything... my Guardian said I'll be good at cooking since I help in the kitchen all the time" he smield brightly at the other.

Alain was enthralled at Julian's reaction. "Yeah, duckies!" he exclaimed happily, "I made this one. You know what, since you like it so much I think I'll give it to you," he declared, placing the duck into the Sarus' hands.
"I'm so glad you like my work, though, I've been doing this since I was probably about your age. My Da—" It was becoming apparent that Alain was quite proud of him, "He taught me how to make these. He wasn't always home when I was a kid, so I would pass the time doing this. I never did anything else, though; Mum always did the cooking. I think if I tried to cook I would make something explode." Alain realized he was rambling and smiled apologetically at Julian.
Shuffling through some papers under the counter, he finally found a blank one that was competent for drawing on. This was yet another way Alain entertained himself on the days he was confined to shop, which, in reality, was most days. His family owned a string of shops, including one that sold familiars down the corner. Alain didn't have any brothers or sisters, so things got quite hectic, especially during holidays. On the off chance that Alain did get a day to himself, he was usually in the parks playing games with other kids, or in the forest in search of inspiration for more little statues.

"Really?!?" Julian exclaimed, his eyes shining bright as he looked up at Alain. "Thank you soooo soo much Alain!" he said, almsot bouncing where he stood. He had never been given a gift from anyone besides his guardian!
Even when the other started to ramble, the little Sarus listened intently to everything he said. His guardian had always said he was very good at listening. "Make things explode? wow I bet that made a HUGE mess!" he giggled a little and shuffled his feet a lightly. "But I was told everyone was good at something different! No one can be good at everything!" he chimed brightly, blinking his large blue hues.

Julian's following reaction had made Alain unduly happy, and he may as well have been jumping up and down with the smaller boy. "Mum was trying to teach me how to pressure-cook, but that didn't end too well. I've never touched the stove since!" he said, laughing joyfully. "But you're right. Everyone's good at different things"
The teenage Ehalu smiled brightly at the boy. "I make these every coupla days. Maybe if you come back in a week or two I'll have some more!" Alain laughed happily again, turning around briefly to look for a good pen. He wasn't a great artist, but it was something else to do, while entertaining customers.
(( I guess I didn't leave too much room for response...bring up another subject? xD; ))

"Soup and Stew is the easiest thing to make I think" he said, tapping hsi chin a little and smiled brightly up at Alain. Tuckign back a few strands of his fluffy hair back, he peeked over the counter to see what the other was doing on the paper. "This that how you pick things to make? You draw then first?" he asked softly, peeking up at him. " I can only draw stick people.." he said with a giggle.

 A soft sigh escaped Valentine's lips as he watched the pair for a moment, running his fingers through his hair a couple times to settle himself. He hadn't meant to upset himself, but it was apparent that even his own futile attempts to calm his inner thoughts had failed miserably.
His attention turned towards the baby as Mirage spoke, a light smile spreading across his lips as he did so. "She looks like you," he replied, voice smooth and calm, "I bet she's a handfull."
Trying almost desperately by now to keep his cool, the Crow stood abruptly, though not angrily, wings splayed out is a dilapidated manner as he did so. A few feathers fell from the appendages, charcoal-hued plumage litering the forest floor as he did so. Bristling a bit, he paced for a moment, fingers going once more through his hair. He found it a habit he couldn't quite break at this point, but a habit he'd rather not have nonetheless.
Straining to regain his composure, he leaned his spine against the rough bark of the nearest tree, eyes gazing towards the nearby, though hidden, street of Kinoc. This forest was rather small, and was considered by most a part of the city rather than its own entity.
Valentine cursed inwardly at this point. 'Damnit... what has me so angry?' He sighed in attempt to shake it off, looking back to Leonardo and Mirage. "Glad to see... that you're both doing well."

Leonardo smiled softly at his daughter before handing her carefully to Mirage. He nodded awkwardly to Valentine's words. This was such a... situation here. The Crow sighed roughly, brushing a strand of hair out of his face. "I..." He began uncertainly. "...am craving a visit to the Ansantaniel." He said, referring to the massive forest just to the north. Leonardo made a slight face as he stretched. He didn't visit the forest all that often anymore-- Mirage and Autumn had taken up seemingly too much time for him even to try. He moved smoothly as he made his exit. "Sorry to... eat and run," He added behind his shoulder before allowing himself to morph into a rather large crow and flying high into the sky, in the general direction of the Ansantaniel.

Mirage blankly stared where Leonardo had been before shaking her head and quickly letting out a soft squeal. "********! Vally, take Autumn and follow me. I can't fly with these nubs of wings." She fluttered them a few times before glaring directly into his crimson eyes with her golden ones, a few red specks floating in them from Mittel. Her voice was harsh and angry as she spoke, "If anything happens to her, I swear to god I'll make sure you'll regret it for the rest of your life."
With that, Mirage carefully handed the small form to Valentine and began quickly morphing into a larger crow herself, rapidly flapping after Leonardo's trail in the darkening sky. She hovered a few moments, making sure Valentine was following her.

Slightly startled from Mirage's sudden casting of her baby into his arms, Valentine gently cradled the infant, closing his eyes for a moment. Opening them quickly, his wings fluttered a bit as he flapped them heavily, feet moving easily from the ground. Landing just behind where Mirage's avian form was, he crouched, an oddly protective posture about him with someone else's baby in his arms.
"Ready to go." he growled, gazing after Leonardo's path, "Don't worry about waiting for me to keep up."

Tal Riel was given enough money for two loaves of bread, two quarts of milk, and five ounces of butter. His master had given him the afternoon off so long as he promised to pick out some groceries when he returned.
Since Tal never got any time off he jumped at the chance to enjoy the city. He carried some of his own money with him in order to buy lunch. He didn't really have any money to shop with, but that didn't stop him from looking at the merchandise the city stores offered. He was soon in a book store skimming through the books. He couldn't afford any of them and, with the shopkeep eyeing him,he couldn't really stand there reading any of them, but bits an pieces literature could tide him over for now.

Alain shook his head in reply to Julian, "No, I'm not that great at drawing..." he lifted the paper slightly, showing the Sarus a stick figure, "But sometimes it does help me pick things to make."
The Ehalu smiled and went back to doodling on the paper. "Usually when I have a day off I go outside. I'm in the shops almost every day, but I like the outdoors a lot. Sometimes I go walking around the forest, and I'll see something I want to make. What do you think I should do next?"

Nodding a little, the child Sarus rested his arms on his table then laid his ehad on them. "I love goign outside...there is always someoen to play with out there..." he smiled lightyl and sighed softly. "You could hrmmm... you could make yourself? Or a fish? Or Um.... somethign you like..." he giggled a little, tryign to think of all kinds of ideas.

Tal Riel finished looking over the books and moved on to the next shop. It was full of decorations. Elaborate carpets, gorgeous paintings, and nifty trinkets lined the walls and shelves. Tal Riel had never seen such beautiful things. As he examined the walls and shelves he considered skipping lunch and just buying something.
