"Well... if it's anything like last year's, large quantities of alcohol will probably be necessary," Reeve said, grimacing. Last year's end of summer party had been a total disaster--probably as a result of the types of people who bumped into Rufus while he was supposed to be planning it.

The highlight of the entire affair had been the President getting far too drunk and dancing around the room holding Hojo captive against his will. Reeve had been mildly surprised to find that the President was still alive, and, aside from a massive hangover, completely unharmed the next day.

"As for the arena, the executive lobby on the 67th floor is the place that's always reserved for it," he added, ever practical. "And the menu should probably be decided by the catering company, don't you think?"

Kim pondered over Reeve's words. She leaned back in her chair and stared at the table for a few moments. It was an odd shade of blueish gray that seemed to captivate her while she was trying to think.

"Excecutive lobby... 67th floor... good. We can start decorating it then. Of course, whoever is doing that isn't decided yet." Kim paused and then giggled, "As far as alcohol goes we need to keep it to a minimum. We can't completely get rid of it, otherwise we'd be dead by morning. Pephaps some wine or something..."

Kim remembered last summer's party very well. She had still been a secretary at the time, and an overly shy one- hanging back near the food table and looking around nervously. She remembered the President getting drunk and it wasn't a pretty sight. It reminded her of the behavior still going on in the President's office now- and they were sober! Kim brushed the thought out of her head.

"For food, the catering service needs to be told what to cook. So, we need to think of a basic outline of the food we want, and they'll work with it."

"How 'bout Wutaian food?"

The question left Natsumi's mouth before she realized it. She grinned awkwardly and said a bit embarrassedly, "Just a suggestion. And wine would be good." Though she preferred tea, but one could hardly have tea at a company party.

Visions of previous company parties, with either a] lavish, over-the-top decor (back when President Shin-Ra had had a hand in it), or b] more subtle, elegant furnishings (Rufus) flashed through Natsumi's mind. Both had been classy and very expensive-looking. She felt a small stab of pity for the one tasked with decorating.

"So the party's going to be formal?"

"It'd kind of have to be, wouldn't you say?" Ehren, until now silent, responded. "We work for the most powerful company on the planet." He shrugged. It was only natural--the rich and powerful reap the rewards of their power. And that meant high class above all else. Since Rufus became the Vice President, it had been his kind of class, too--very modernist, very tasteful, and very expensive.

He remembered some of the Turks' senses of style, and frowned shortly. "I'd better take care of the room arrangement, or we might end up with... well, something of a disaster. He glanced instinctively in the direction of Rufus's office, a few floors above.

OoC: X___X *pokes thread*

"I'd better take care of the room arrangement, or we might end up with... well, something of a disaster." Having said that, Ehren shot a significant look at the air space above them. An eyebrow-raiser in itself, had the look not been in the general direction of Rufus' office. She hoped Kanako hadn't woken up just yet.

Bloody freeloader. And she'd taken Natsumi's boots, too.

Natsumi brushed the thoughts aside - they seemed to be straying off again - and ticked everything off on her mental copy of Kim's list.

The Menu, and probably Amount of Alcohol - caterers.
The party room - exec lobby on 67th floor.
The decor - Ehren.
The invites -

Hmn.

"I think that just leaves the invitations, right?"

"Hmmmm.... the invitations would include anyone woh works here or their families. So, I think flyers can be used would be a good idea. Though, I think we should try to avoid putting them up near the labs..." Kim reasoned, taking a drink of her soda. God knows she wanted to avoid getting Hojo to the party.

"Anyway, things are looking good right now. That covers everything except dress, but that information will be included on the flyer. I'm thinking cocktail party style dress. Anyone object?"

"No objections," Natsumi said lightly. She could kind of see why Kim wanted to avoid Hojo attending. The mental image of Hojo in a neat suit and tie rather than his usual lab-wear was ... Disturbing to say the least.

"I think that kind of wraps it up, right? So when is the party, by the way?"

(I disappeared! So sorry! XD; I'm back now and have at least a month before school attacks me again.)

"Uh. I don't know. Well, I hope so. Hi, Reeve. Ehren," she nodded to the last two as she greeted them, and took a seat on Kim's other side. Natsumi offered an acknowledging half-smile to the unknown Turk, trying to remember her name. Snow? Definitely something to do with precipitation. Rain ... no, Raine. "And Raine, right?"
"Yeah."
"Ah. Nice to meet you."
Raine nodded and half-muttered a 'Nice to meet you to,' as she started to focus more on Kim, waiting for her to answer Natsumi's question, and started to be distracted by her own thoughts as well. Kim went through a checklist of what needed to be done, and jobs were assigned. Food and drink to be dealt with by the caterers, the room decided to be the exec lobby, Air in charge of decor, and Natsumi in charge of the invites. She reviewed this information once more in her mind so it wouldn't be forgotten, and straightened into a less dangerous sitting position; one that wouldn't spill her onto the floor if the chair she'd been leaning back in decided to fall. If she was going to be listening in on the party planning, she may as well try and make herself useful, right?
"Putting up-slash-handing out flyers could be a pretty big job with all of the floors here," she seemed to muse more to herself, "I could help with that and recruit at least one more, if need be." Her own thoughts momentarily distracted her, and a slight smile slid across her face as she imagined Roma ranting about getting him dragged into things. She mentally shrugged; it was his loss, not hers.

"Okay then, Raine." Kim smiled, scribbling down her name next to the flyers idea. "Since everything looks good, how about we get to work?"

Kim stood up, holding the paper out in front of her. "Ehren will go take care of decour. Natsumi will ummm.... since there is no need for invites, because we are using flyers, could you please contact the caterers and see what they can make for the occasion? I trust you food judgement. Raine and I will make the flyers and distribute them throughout the building." Kim winked, "We'll also see if we can get help from anyone else along the way."

"After everyone finishes what they have to do, we'll meet back at the Turk Lounge. Is everyone okay with their jobs? Any questions before we set off?" Kim wanted to make sure she didn't pigeon-hole anyone into a job they didn't want.

((After everyone finishes, there will be a plot twist- promise! whee ))

{You trust Natsumi's food judgement? xd Oh, and Kanako [despite being a Turk in other RPs] makes no appearance here other than the annoying NPC, because that is how she is portrayed. X_X Descriptions of her have been duly edited.}

_____

"That's fine with me," Natsumi said placidly. This way, she'd have a say in the food. Perhaps some cross-cultural fare would do some good, though not too much. "When do we have to do all this by?"
