The impact of Reet's tail against Roan's face made a sharp crack as it slapped her, the force sending her head to the side. Instinctively she snapped back at the offending tail and dug her claws into his ankles, holding on as strongly as she possibly could, which Reet seemed determined to make a difficult task. Whether or not they liked it, he was clearly out for blood and to Roan that meant it was perfectly within her rights to do as much physical damage to the dragon as possible.

Sunday didn't quite connect as planned, and her legs drove grooves into the hard ground as she landed, still upright as Reet went for her throat.
It was all too familiar, but she had taken out more than one at once, and Reet must already have been worn ragged from the past few hours. No hesitation, not aiming to disable, but to kill, to stop the screaming and the struggling. In the valley, the lines had blurred on both sides of the battle.
Roan already had him by the legs. He wouldn't be fighting much longer. Sunday's arm came up and out, her heavy forearm swinging out in an arc, in line with Reet's throat. The flimsy cone would be meager protection, but perhaps his neck would remain intact.
((No worries, shim. We all know how it is. I'm going to be a rare sight soon, myself.))

The blue had no sense of self-preservation. That's just not the way he was told to act. He continued to aim for the gold's throat even though he knew he was beaten. But the cone blocked his view of her claws until the sliced through it and across his own neck.
Blood gushing from his neck, he fell into the muck. He tried to claw at the gold's ankle, but he had lost too much blood. After awhile, without self-preservation, one simply can't attack any longer. The blue closed his eyes, defeated for the second time that day. This time, it was a little more perminant.
((Not dead, but he will be soon unless someone does something. ))

((O_O I didn't expect to open his neck up. Someone call 911!))
Sunday's face was obscured in the fountain of blood, and it streaked her hair and drenched her skin as she found herself instinctively clamping a hand over the open wound, wondering if Reet's windpipe had also gone in that blow.
Her expression was unreadable, but her voice was not as strong as she wrapped her arms around the dying blue dragon, meaning to carry him to the lair.
"Roan, let go of him."

((Intense. Thinks poor Reet may need to have a tracheostomy to breath with that damaged windpipe. How come only the girl dragons get to subdue Reet are boy dragons just good for fun?))

((The boys just haven't chosen to show up...and Kismet couldn't take him. Well, one good thing about Kismet's current new power, is as long as you don't kill each other off, he should be able to fix up afterwards. ^^;;; ))

Roan released her hold on the blue, rising slowly and giving the lifeless body a look of disdain. The blood spatters were barely visible on her, except where they'd reached her hair. She took a step back, folding her arms across her chest. They would be better off leaving him to die. He'd hurt enough dragons already.
The gold seemed to have other things in mind though and if she wanted to exhaust herself trying to fight fate, it wasn't Roan's concern.
"You did what was necessary."
