Super Panda I see, but would the pro mind if I hung around and watched how he did it? Well, that'll depend on the shop you go to. You never know unless you ask 3nodding Super Panda Moving on to my next question, what kind of octane do you guys get in the USA. The best I can get my dirty little paws on is 97 octane. Now If I was to bring in a S13 Silvia blaugh , would it be fuel injected and would I have to change the fuel mapping if it was modded in Japan where the octane is 100? Depending on where you live in the US, the highest octane available will vary. While Hawaii is stuck with 92, motor city Detroit gets like 102 or something.... stare Japan also has 102 octane gas, but it's nothing that couldn't be fixed with octane booster that you can buy at any auto store. As for the engine, I have no idea since I've never worked on an engine older than about '93, and I definitely have never wored on a Silvia before. However, seeing where you're trying to go with your car, you'd probably end up swapping to a refresher SR20 anyway, so I doubt it would be an issue for you for very long 3nodding

Im wondering if it won't be a good idea to bring two cars in from Japan. IF i can afford it. But in that case it would be a drift/racing machine, and a daily drive/date/expo machine.
I think a hachi or a S13 would be the cheapest drift option, but do you have any ideas for a daily drive. I was thinking a R32 or a Evo 4 or Evo 5., But those could be pricy right?

Old LanEvo's and R32's are pretty reasonably priced now. You'd probably find one for the same or even cheaper than you would a Hachi (they're REALLY popular now). Personally though, if money weren't a concern for me, I'd get the Verosa from Toyota xd whee

What about the S13 Silvias are those as popular as hachi's and thus just a tad more expencive. Or are folks prefering S14s and S15s?

S13's are a lot more abundant than hachi's because they had a longer production run, they came out more recently than hachis, and there's two chasis models to pick from (S13 or RPS13). So yeah, tendency is that they're cheaper for the most part.

Are there any significant differences between the two?
Also I'm wondering. Im one tall cat. 6.ft2 or somthing. Now I need to pull my seat way back to get comfortable with the pedals. But then I would want the steering wheel closer.
I have noticed that Rally cars and other race cars have their steering wheels extended out for driver comfort. How hard is it to do on a road car and would I have alot of trouble with the indicators and whipers etc.?

Prices are pretty much the same for both models, so I don't think that you'd have to worry about that. As for the steering columb, Momo makes detachable and flip-up steering wheel assembly kits for about $250-$400US that will also extend the wheel out a bit. It doesn't replace the wiper or side marker switches either, so you don't have to worry about that.

What would be needed to be done to a car to get it set up for high speed touring.
ie. Intercity Cannonball style driving (200km/h for a couple of hours flat out.)
I think the big thing would be keeping the engine cool. And I think a NA tuned engine would be best.

Ok well I've scrapped the BMW cannon Ball Idea, it may be cheaper and more fun to get a Mustan Super Boss or a Fast back. Long open roads are what they seem to be built for. And since those big blocks don't spin so fast I might not get that hot. However one or two hours of running fast might cause cause problems. Any Ideas?
Also In the Engine code SR20DET. what does the D stand for again. the E is for electronic fuel injection and the T is for Turbo. But I can't for the live of me Rember what the D stands for sweatdrop

Well, even though larger engines don't rev as high to make hp and torque, they're still working hard because the larger displacement requires heftier components that will show the same wear as any Skyline or Supra after they've been running at high speed for 2 hours. Running them under conditions like that would be like the equivalent of a Grand Prix event, so you'd probably loose a lot of tread on your tires and have to do a lot of maintenance on your engine too.
