I thought FF7 was alright, but I didn't buy it. I bought FF8, which some people don't like, though I do and that's really all that matters to me.

And from all I've heard FFT Advance is supposed to be a really good game and I might have to pick it up.

Also, I enjoy playing Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, even if there is only me and my cousin playing because nobody around here games.plus I'm too cheap to buy more than 2 connector cables

No, The Hitchhiker's Guid to the Galaxy is the first book. The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide is the series. I win you lose.

For sci-fi with a friggin' spine:
David Gerrold's Chtorr series. It rocks, but it's hard as hell to find. (Rage for revenge, day for damnation, season for slaughter) Kickass.

For some counter-culture: Hunter S. Thompson. He is the man. Mr duke, I salute thee.

Comics, because.. face it. We're geeks and dorks;

Preacher. Get it, read it, love it. Teh rock.

Transmetropolitan. Get it, read it, worship warren ellis, because he's just so much cooler than you will ever be.

Best game as of late:
Disgaea. It's so good, it's like a secret lover.

Nice. Figure I should add some things as well.

Catch-22 (Novel)
Good Omens (Novel -- and how is this not likable at all when it's Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett doing the writing?)
Suicide Kings (Visual)
Front Mission 3 (PS1)
Ninja Gaiden series (NES)

And as people have mentioned before... yes, FFT is godly. I still break that out to play every now and then.

This one has nae been posted in for awhile and I think I'll add my own list in here.

Before I start, I've gotta get something out there about FF7. A lot of people that talk s**t on it played it after it had been out for awhile. That's why you don't like it.

FF7 came out practically right after the PS1. There was _NOTHING_ that looked anything like FF7 at the time. Was Cloud a whiney b***h? Yes. Was sephiroth a shallow villain? Yes. Did FF7 visually and atmospherically kick the s**t out of everything else that had been out at the time? Hell yes. FF7 is a great ******** game in the same way that Citizen Kane is a great movie -- it broke a lot of ground, and a lot of games followed in its footsteps.

That said, BP recommends the following to culture one's self:

Lit
---
The following are a list of books that have either been influential on me, or I consider necessary reading for personal and mental development.

Godel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid by Hofstadter.
H.P. Lovecraft (all of it)
The Diamond Age, Snow Crash, and Zodiac by Stephenson.
Alice in Wonderland by Carrol.
Hamlet, MacBeth, Richard III, Othello, and Taming of the Shrew by Shakespeare.
Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Tolkein.
Hitchhiker's Trilogy, Adams.
Chronicles of Prydain, Lloyd Alexander.
Heart of Darkness, Conrad.
The Torah, the Bible, the Koran (the vast majority of the world is religious. It bothers me that many, many people have not read the most influential documents of our time)
Neverwhere and American Gods, Gaiman.
Romance of Three Kingdoms
1984

Music
------
The following, much like above, is a collection of music that I think everyone should _REALLY_ listen to. Like, analyze, listen to.

Bach. All of it.
Orbital's In Sides.
Aphex Twin, Selected Ambient Works.
Tool (intelligent and articulate commentary on modern life. Maynard's lyrics will make you smarter. Because they tell you you're a ******** tard if you don't think for yourself. Additionally, they don't do the typical 4/4 bs).
A Perfect Circle -- Intelligent lyrics, incredible harmonics.
Nine Inch Nails -- Further Down the Spiral and the Fragile. Two counterpoint takes on crafting noise. The editing and production are fantastic.
Hendrix -- You want respect for guitar? You got it.
Tori Amos

Film
-----
Akira Kurosawa. All of it.
Requiem for a Dream, Pi. (Aronofsky)
The Ring.
Psycho (Hitchcock)
Braham Stoker's Dracula
The Last Samurai.
Apocalypse Now (Coppola. One of the best movies ever.)
Clockwork Orange
2001
The Shining
Full Metal Jacket (All by Kubrick, who does suspense as well as Hitchcock)
Alien(s)
Legend
Blade Runner (Ridley Scott does the most incredible set design...)
Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke
Cowboy Bebop, the Movie (the camerawork done with animation is just incredible, particularly the shakey frame motion during fights. this is groundbreaking animation)
Swingers
Waking Life
Hunt for Red October
The Dark Crystal
The Cube
Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction.
Hero
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. (I know I sound like a n00b to the kung fu genre, but it's more the fact that I don't really consider action a good film type in terms of culturing. I actually was less than stunned by the technical merits of most fights in both of the above movies).
The Matrix (the first movie, as a whole, was technically incredible).
Lost Highway (the film is a _moebius strip_. I kid you not. Go watch it)
Mulholland Drive.
Fight Club.
Enter the Dragon.
(I could go on, but no... Can you tell where my biggest fandom lies?)

Fight Scenes
--------------
This gets its own grouping, since I can nae stand shitty fights, as I practice kung fu. So, a quick list of the best off the top of my head.

Hero -- Jet Li and Maggie Cheung v. the arrows while Donnie Yen does calligraphy (beautiful).
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon -- Michelle Yeoh v. Zhang Ziyi in the courtyard at night. A rare case of foot trapping and clever footwork in a fight scene.
Legend of the Drunken Master -- Jackie Chan is king.
The Matrix: Reloaded -- A twin v. Morpheus and Trinity. While driving inside a car. Clever, clever, clever. And ridiculously cool.
The Matrix: Reloaded -- Seraph v. Neo. nuff said

hmm... thought that would be longer. These are just the absolute standout fights, though. They're all extremely clever in some way, shape, or form.

VidGames
------------
Xenogears. Thou shalt play Xenogears.
Metroid. Thou shalt play the Metroids.
And then thou shalt play more Xenogears. You shall be as gods.
