"Labrie + Take the Time + Live = Disaster"
idd confused

but i think labrie+live is a little disaster..
not speaking about the rest of the band. they just play their instrument like its a part of their own body smile

Educate an old fart... what does "idd" stand for? wink

Live situation is hardest on the vocalist - especially for one in a demanding job. Granted, Labrie has a huge challenge when getting on stage... but my philosophy is that you shouldn't do things on track that you can't do live (I've been a drummer for over 10 years and been doing a lot of different stuff while at it). whee

true, but most of the songs have a hard vocal part in it.
but on the newest live album from dream theater labrie is singing much better.

idd is a hard word to me, never new how to write the whole word but i knew the short version. let me try: indeed?
anyway it means that you are right.

Ah, okay .. so it's just "indeed" okay. smile
I'm just getting worried whether I'm being left off from the train of internet language developent. xd

I haven't heard DT's newest. The last I heard with the Inner turbulence one and I didn't honestly like it much. So, I've been on a rather anti-DT mood since then and listening only to Metropolis pt2.

Then, hearing Labrie on Human Equation actually did give hope of him actually being better these days. Might have to give the new DT a chance.

try the DVD "score". then they play with a whole orcest.
and beter vocals.

but because of the orcest you don't hear the keys anymore.

labrie was singing that good on ayreon because i saings in a diffenent style. and arjen made the music after some vocals sometimes, so he could make it nice. and make the vocals become part of the music.

but i still think labrie was a bad choice for ayreon.

I'll give "score" a try if I come across it somewhere.

I think Labrie did surprisingly good job on Human Equation. He still isn't my favourite vocalist (quite obvious by now, eh?) but he did a lot better job than I expected.

And I agree with what you said about the music + Labrie's voice. That's exactly what I meant with Labrie not going well with DT. biggrin Somehow his voice (which obviously could do more) just doesn't sound right half the time.

It's a good thing for DT they made Metropolis pt2 so I still have a whole album from them that I can listen without trouble. biggrin

Oh, you should definitely get Metropolis pt2. Like I've said plenty of times already, I've found it the best and most coherent album DT has ever made. And it doesn't have many of those minuses I usually associate with DT. wink

biggrin I was surprised myself when I heard such good vocals live on 'Score.' I watched another one of their older live DVD's with my friend (a big DT freak), and I really wasn't that impressed at all. I liked how they included the orchestra, but there were some songs that I wish they just kept without it, especially "Vacant."

I just got 'Octavarium' the other day, too. It's... different. I mean, at times, it sounds a lot like some of the stuff I already listen to, but it's a surprise that they've gotten so "heavy." They do it well, though.
