"You want to know everything?" She asked as she turned to look at Meris. "So far as I know Darren is gone. He probably could have gotten out without me attempting to help." She muttered. "I got those from the Prince's guard." she said as she picked them up and looked at Meris. "It gives us a place to stay while I am forced to work off a debt to the Prince. According to him he was just about to ship me off to Mancherio to become a slave or something. BUt then he gave up on that and merely decided that I would have to work and pay him the m oney it would have given him if I had been sold." She sighed as she thought of that and knew that if she was gone it might be hard on the little kids. "To tell you the truth? I wish he sold me! I wish I was outta here and away from your vocal abuse! But I'm not....but that doesn't mean I can't quit!" She said as she threw the chits at Meris and started to walk away once more.

"Well guess what?! I WISH YOU WERE TOO! All those times I called you stupid and I that I was just being mean, not telling the truth! First you probably got Darren captured.. AGAIN. Then you were dumb enough to get captured yourself when you know he can probably get himself out cause" He smack his head and made a really stupid face at her, "He's Darren." He picked up the chits and tossed right at the back of her head, "And finally your stupid enough to come back here and take that s**t. You broke more rules. We don't take money from adults unless it's small or we stole it. If you compromised never come straight back to the hideout. Worst you want everyone to move to a hotel and be in debt to a man who is a known slaver!! Keep your chits. Maybe some of them will take you up on the offer, but you'll have to give it too them yourself. The rest of us have to move now." He spat in her direction and started walking back to the hideout.

"I never said that any of you were in his debt." She said as she turned to pick up the chits. "Only I am and I know why." She felt tears well up in her eyes as she gripped the chits tightly in her hands before turning to walk away. She didn't care that she broke any rules. Never once did she endanger those kids, she was not being followed to the hideout as she was aware of her surroundings every minute. It didn't matter anyways now that she was out of the gang, she was almost too old to be in anyways.

Meris walked back to the gang's hideout and gave out the whistle for everyone to get up. "Up and atta'um! We've been compromised and ... Lanen .. She's not coming back." He said nudging a kid off a rug so that he could roll it up. The little kids started packing everything up into barrels, crates, and bags.
One of the little girl's came up and tugged on his shirt as he was tying up the rug. "Where are we going, and why isn't Lanen comm'in back?" She asked hugging a ragged teddy bear.
The raccoon looked over that her, "We are going to the one of the other hideout we scoped out. There will be new walls for you to color on." He said trying to make the situation better than it was.
"But what about Lanen? She's not to old yet."
Meris snorted not wanting to miss place his anger on the little girl. "Lanen did a very bad thing," He started softly, "She broke a lot of the rules, especially the really big ones. Do you remember what the rules are?"
The girl grinned and recited them from memory. "Never steal from the gang. Share everything with the gang. Don't take big stuff from adults. Don't talk to adults without having another gang member there. Watch each other's back. Watch for slaver's. NO SLUTS! NO BULLIES! NO BULLSHIT!"

Lanen once more looked at the chits in her hand and knew that it was a terrible thing to even hand them to Meris. At first she had intentions of using it just so that they might have a nice place to stay in at least for a little while but then shook her head. As she got to the top of a roof, she tossed the things aside and sat down to watch the sun rise, tears gently leaking from her eyes as she tried not to think of the gang that she let down. Some of the rules she broke were unavoidable when she went to help Darren. (Which this isn't all that fair because I didn't know the rules in the first place but oh well.)
Now she shouldn't have tried to help Darren in the first place. She knew he could take care of himself but she was trying to help and be brave like she always thought she could be and by doing that she messed up big time. Soon she would have to find some clothes, but before that some money. She may not be a gang member anymore, but she could still easily steal. This outfit she had one sickened her and made her feel like a slut, which she was not.
Then an idea struck her. She would try to escape. She knew that if she could escape she could get out of this place for good, rid herself of these terrible memories and start new ones. Soon. Soon she would escape this vile city.

"Meh, close enough." Darren's orginal verison was more clean, specific, and eloquent, but the kids weren't going to remember that. And there were a few other rules, but most of thoses were about people who break the rules. Meris helped everyone pack everything up.
As they began moving through the streets, the little girl keep berating him with questions. "Now that Darren's gone.. who's gonna be da leader?"
"I don't know. A few people thought it might be Lanen cause she was so bossy, but that's definately not a going to happen. Now of the older kids really have expressed any interest in taking over, but the regular meeting to the gangs is coming up and we need to send a representative.'

Lanen wiped away her tears as the sun finally started to set and she got up, starting to walk along the roof, her skimpy skirt tossing around in the late evening breeze. Tonight she had to plan her escape, what she would gather, what she would steal and where she would go.
With ease she jumped off the roof and onto a canopy, then to another before she arrived on another roof and started to walk to where she knew a good place to sleep and rest was.

~Uni slowly wandered through the market place. He had never really been to a crowded area before so he tried to keep away from as much people as possible. He had a dazzaling white, unicorn like horn, pertruding from his upper forehead, hair covering the base of it. He had a white tail with curling white hair at the end of it. He kept his head down as he walked, though he was careful not to have his horn stab into anything.~

The little girl Meris was speaking to noticed the unicorn walking down the street. She giggles and wandered away to chase after him.
"Alice! Get back here!" Meris order, but the girl was gone. The raccoon handed the crate in his hands off to another boy and chased after her. "Alice!"
The girl had caught up to the unicorn and curled her little fingers around his shirt and tugged on it trying to get his attention as she hugged her teddy bear.

~He jumped a bit as his shirt was tugged and he than looked down to the girl, his big, purple eyes seemed, almost distant. He put a small smile on his face.~ Hello there. ~his voice was soft and sweet as he spoke kindly to the child.~

"Your tail is pretty! Pony!" She giggled and hugged her stuffed toy as she blushed and hid behind it. Alice was a fairly innocent child, especially for the street urchins. Her hard life had failed to rob her of her sweetness or her innocence. She was a squirrel child, with a long fluffy black tail and pointed fuzzy black ears.

~He smiled a bit and kneeled down to her level, placing a hand on her head.~ Thank you. And i'm a Unicorn. ~His smile grew a bit, showing pearly white teeth. His wonderfully white clothing hung from him gently. He took off a scarf he was wearing and offered it to the child.~ this will go great with your lovely features and personality ~He smiled lightly as he ruffled her hair a bit, causing it to become clean.~

She looked at the scarf with awe. "For me?... but umm... wait." The little squirrel girl reached into the hole in her bear and dug around with her little fingers till she pulled out glass marble with violet star on the inside. "Here dis is for you, it's the same color as your eyes." She grinned and placed the prized marble in his larger hand.

~He looked down to the marble as it was placed in his hand. He smiled lightly before looking to the girl.~ Thank you m'lady. ~He took her hand and kissed it, as though she were royalty.~ I wonder. Are you alone on these streets, for that would surely not be a good thing.

She blushed profusely at the kiss and stammered as she tried to speak from behind her bear, "I.. I.. I ..um ..I'm notta.." Before Alice could finished her stammered sentence Meris was beside her.
The raccoon was a little out of breath as he took her hand, "How many times do I have to tell ya not to wander off. It's dangerous out here, and you not wearing your cloak either!" He scolded, although he was just releived to have found her.
"But I met the nice Mr. Pony-corn! Look he gave me a pretty scarfy!" She grinned and tugged at Meris arm excitedly as she pointed at the unicorn.
