Break a wrist, Mariko! It was bright day, I saw a man flying. Up the riggings, I mean. I mean, like flying like a goddamn sky rat! So then he's flying, so thinks I, I can fly too, can't I? So I get after him... But then I fall on my hindey; it's black and blue and beginning to turn orange now. Oh my poor buttocks.... But I'm a good girl and never give up, so I try again because I'm good at trying! I guess I forgot that Ah'm dead damned afeared o' heights. So I was stuck there and couldn't go further and couldn't let go, and dun wanna fall... But I did anyways, my hand's like all twisted now, I can't move it! I got saved though, like the knight in dusty armor or whatever that damn phrase is... Avelope and Samuel, I think? Or was it Antelope and Sameater? Huh, I'm sure it was Samuel and Avelope... Geez, I gotta names better or they might think I dun like them.... Hey, did you know, Damned Diary, that the ocean's not really blue here? It's green and brown with patches- I could see forever from up there. I think that if I were to fly, I'd see everything. And the world ain't so blue and big from up there?

Surgery and the Sturgeon The Sturgeon's name is Penelope. She's pretty with these blue eyes like sapphires, like the color the ocean's supposed ter be. But nothin' really is that blue or pretty but those eyes of her's... I wanna steal them so I can put them in my collection. Surgery's great! I getta lay on a bed and drink lots o' rum while she like sets the bones and sews me back together. Like a ragdoll.. Tee hee, like a ragdoll that's got torn up and all the sawdust spills out like blood and guts and all those insides... I once found a dog that got its innards turned to outtards. I was rifling through the intestines before the cops came. It tickled though, and felt like hot and cold and switched back and forth. Sometimes it feels like there's a cat brushing across the places she sews. Is that normal? I always thought Surgery was supposed to be all painful. Maybe those people that I talked too are crazy in the head. Maybe they're loonier than loony and nuttier than the captain. I think they are, overall the surgery was damned pleasant, and I made new friends!

Will everyone with a decent level of sanity please raise their hand? Oh gawd, the entire ship is CRAZY! I mean, loony! Me and the Irish lady are the only sane people in all of this damned ship! They're crazy here, loonier than loony, really crazy, like a knot in the ropes... I tried to untie this one rope but it was salt-soaked and too dried up to untie so I cut it and then the sails fell down and I got in trouble with me ol' captain... The captain had a parrot, his name was Petey and I ate him, the parrot I mean..... I met Alette after the surgery, she came bargin' in. Why, magnetic attraction! Satan musta willed it, I mean, God never done anything with me before. We hit off real well, I mean, as the only two sane pirates on the Aquarius, it's just meant to be, right? Anyhoo, we found a basket of bread and rum. The bread was good, complete with the crunchy weevils and all. We were chowing them down together like ol' mates! Imagine that. Eh, I like eating them, the bugs I mean, 'cause they're crunchy and the bread's tasteless and brittle and don't crunch like a good beetle. But the bread's still good, I like rum, I've had lots of different rum before. Which side of my family's from Cuba again?

God Ain't Done Nothin' For Me! God’s not done nothing for me. The priesties, they all say, “God will help us!” And when He doesn’t, they say, “Oh, He helped in this-and-this way, preventing this-and-this-that-didn’t-happen from happening, we should be thankful..” or more often, “He is testing us.” Which is a short way of saying that “He doesn’t give a crap.” I think that the Humanists from the Renaissance were right- God is a clockmaker, and the clockmaker makes the clock, sells it, and leaves the clock to run on its own. After that, he’s too busy making more clocks to check on his old ones, taking out rusting parts and making sure it’s top shape. If there is a God, then that’s true. I think that’s mighty damn irresponsible of him! He ain’t jist gonna leave us- right? Naw, I think that if we were one of God’s clocks, he’s already forgotten about us. So what’s the use to praying and all this stuff if there ain’t anyone to see it? And how can this God blame us damned people for prostitution when He gave us women pretty bodies but nowhere else to turn to when the kiddos cry from hunger? How can He damn the thief when He gave the person no other choice? That’s like starving a dog and punishing it when it tries to eat its own limbs. Whoever this God is, he ain’t fair at all. If He ain’t want us to sin, then why does He make it the only way to live?

News- Battle at Sea! Oh gee, Ah sure damn wish Ah 'coulda seen it. Ah was listenin' to tavern gossip, and Ah hears that two ships faced off. Demented... No... Dementia, I think, attacked a ghost ship. Cuoro Scuro, Ah think, or sumtig like that. Haha! Ah coulda laughed. There ain't no such thing as half-man half-beast creatures, silly! Some wench probably had one too many ales and spread the tale around. Ah'm gonna beh seeing what everyone else is saying. But eet woulda been nice to see like a dogman. I'd like a dogman. For a pet I mean. Or even a parrotwoman- then Ah could sleep with her AND eat her!

Rumors Ah heard rumors of the Cap'n leavin', ya know. Ah'm real surprised- and disappointed. Ah haven't even gotten to dissect him yet, that's a real damn pity! Anyways, Ah wonder who'll be takin' up the new Cap'n-ie-ness? Ah hope eet's someone sane for once. Someone like me. Someone who likes weevils in their bread and parrots stir-fried in Indian curry. Indian curry's real damn hot. Real good. Like Indian Curry a lot, so spicy. Ah like it in coconut milk even. Ah bin hearin' of a French lady that's been showing interest in the position. Ah dunno wot really motivated the current Cap'n to leave, but whatever eet ees, Ah'm sure he's got his own goddamn reasons. God's funny like that. Either he's not up there anymore or he's got too much ale down his liver.

New Captain The new Captain's Tracey Trans. When I first came on the ship (back with ol' Aiden as Captain, I mean), I mistakes him for a girl and tries to flirt. It's only understandable. I mean, with that cute little butt and those willowly, narrow hips, what else could he have been? He also doesn't didn't not-at-all looks like a Captain. Old Man Aiden, he was something to behold really, all ritzied up in that coat and Irish snuff of his. New Old Man Tracey just looks like a carpenter, mind a real cute pretty one. Oh, I told him there was a parrot on board. Damned birdbrain wouldn't believe me, so I saunters up to his cabin and he unlocks the door and there's a parrot there. A French parrot. With an even cuter rear and actual breasts where it counts. Hmmm.
