rurouni_starchild Mr. MooCow rurouni_starchild Yeah, I found it there's a second face by Beatrice's hair. It's an optical illusion, focus on the red. Notes are being typed up as we speak. -RS There's about 5 different faces, actually. 5? Really? I know it wasn't an optical illusion by turning it upside down... (goes to look) Well I know there's the two... and maybe if you count the red around her neck and ruffle and the red around her lips...but those aren't really as distinct as the others... confused Where do you see five? Ok. First there's the actual Beatrice face. Second is just to the left and in her hair. Inside that face, kinda, turn the book upside down. Look at the top (actually the bottom) of the second face. You'll see the bottom of the third face. The fourth one is on her lips. Keep the book upside down, and the end of her chin is right next to her nose. I found another one earlier to, so I'll edit this post if I see it. EDIT: Yep, the fifth. Similiar to the upside down lips one, look at the lips regularly (not upside-down) to see another face. Will update if a sixth is seen!

Ok, here is my full theory, having not read the 13th yet, so if I've got it all wrong, sue me. Remember, this is a theory.
The letters Lemony is sending are to the first Beatrice, and they span from when he was a child to close to the present (present as in now, with Lemony 'investigating' the Baudelaire case. Not present as in when the 'story' takes place). The first Beatrice is not the Baudelaire's mother (or relative).
The letters 'Beatrice' are sending are from the second Beatrice, who is the Baudelaire's mother. They begin from a little while after the Baudelaire's went missing to the 'present' (same present mentioned before).
Beatrice is asking for Lemony (a detective, as far as she believes) to help her find her children, or at least relatives, who are the three Baudelaire children. She gets no response from Lemony, so she travels to find them.
Lemony at first thinks this is the first Beatrice (the Beatrice he knew as a child), so he does begin his investigations, however for some reason (I can't explain it) he avoids her and doesn't respond.
So, Lemony investigates, and as he learns more and more about the Baudelaires' lives, he publishes books. These are the 'A series of unfortunate events' books, as we know them.
At some point, he is investigating faster than the Baudelaire's are travelling, and at one point he actually encounters them, as do both his siblings. This encounter is in the Penultimate Peril (the man in the taxi is Lemony), but he leaves them. (I don't have a copy with me right now, but Lemony wasn't sure it was them at the time.)
Anyway, second Beatrice is still travelling, and she somehow tracks the orphans to the sea. She almost makes it, but her ship sank and Beatrice dies.
Well, that's my theory. I'll see how accurate it is when I get Book the Thirteenth sometime today.
Having actually read the book now, I got it all wrong.

The 13th clears a lot up.
I think I worked out a lot except for some identities.
The letters are from Lemony-Beatrice 2.
But I'm kind of muddled on that.
As Beatrice 2 stated,without Violet/Klaus/Sunny she'd be an orphan so that proves it's way after The End (seeing as Violet/Klaus/Sunny are now her guardians, probably who she grew up with and who she sees as her parents) and that the three of them went missing.
Which just makes me want another sequel...
Beatrice,who the boat is named after,is their mother,and that in the 'last letter' in the 'A Series of Unfortunate Events',the log that they wrote,B is Bertand,her husband.
I think that Lemony Snicket was thought to be dead.
Or..something.
However,if someone knows who R is,please help. rofl

That's not fair at all to those who haven't read or finished the book (like myself)! stare And Paradoxical and the other mods have made it clear, NO SPOILERS. If this is Book the 13th related info then it shouldn't even be here, as this thread is for TBL.

The first Beatrice Baudelaire is Violet, Klaus, and Sunny's mother. The second Beatrice is Kit's baby that the Baudelaires adopted after Kit died in the last book.
Does anyone know how the second Beatrice got separated from Violet, Klaus and Sunny? Because in TBL, she's looking for them.

Does anyone know how the second Beatrice got separated from Violet, Klaus and Sunny? Because in TBL, she's looking for them. I suspect no one really knows at the moment. Perhaps more will be revealed in the upcoming supplimental books or the Penny Dreadfuls.

Earlier someone said the ribbons around beatrice look kinda like letters. On the left, it looks a bit like a JS (Jaques Snicket). Its probably just a coincidence though.
