"Whoa." A pause, and a blink. "That's a big cat," Wyvern said, stating the obvious and giving the red feline the once over. She blinked again and shook her head with a small laugh. Rolling from her vertical position, dangling in the netting of a hammock, she heaved herself to her feet with a sigh. Deliberate steps led her closer to the beast.
Should she be worried? Nah. Despite the creature suddenly showing up on her porch, she wasn't bothered. There was a meaning to it, she could tell. The rolled up wad of paper clutched between its' fangs also helped her to reach that conclusion.
Abruptly, she stopped and squatted, thrusting out her hand. "Well, you've a ntoe, don'cha? What'sa matter? Timmy fall down the well again?"

N'rris blinked at the strange girl his new charge sent him to retrieve. He hoped she didn't try to touch him. He didnt think it was a good business practice to bite his new charge's friend.
Opening his jaws, he pushed the slightly soggy letter out of his mouth and sat back on his haunches, well away from the strange green two-legs.

"Breath mint, my long-fanged friend," she said, mostly to herself, but loud enough that she new N'rris could hear. "Breath mint." The desire to run her fingers through that luxurious crimson fur was there, but hey, he didn't seem like the cuddley type, she noted idly, catching him scoot away after dispensing his message.
With a slight grimace- Ugh, mouth juices, and foul scented ones at that- she unrolled the moistened note with cautious hands and began to read.

Note from Quinn Wyvern~
I have some exciting news. Today, when I awoke, I was greeted by the beast you see before you and a basket containing two linking books. One leads to MYST and the other to a troubled realm called Oceania.
I was instructed to gather a team of three to four trustworthy adventures to join a similar team on a journey to Oceania to rescue as many animals as we can. Your name popped immediately to mind.
I know you are always up for anything, so how about it? Want to come along? The journey might prove fruitful.
I don't know how long we will be gone, so bring anything you think you might need and then follow N'rris back to the Stargrove. That's where we are gathering.
Oh, and be careful of the big guy. He's a little bitey.
~Quinn

"Huh." Bronze eyes narrowed as she re-read the note. She stared at the page, as if expecting it to burst into flame or something else equally unlikely, but necessarily dramatic. Rolling the note back up, she stuffed it absent mindedly into a pocket. Wyvern's eyes gleamed and her lips quirked up into the barest of grins. "Neat," she exhaled and bolted upright.
"You," she pointed at the feline messenger, "wait right there," the Gaian finished, vanishing indoors. She re-appeared with a bang, courtesy of the door slamming shut behind her.
She looked N'rris right in the eyes and said, "Right. Take me to your leader."

N'rris licked his chops wryly at the two-legs and stood, tail swishing. Checking back occasionaly to make sure the girl was following, he led her through Gaia to the edge of the Stargrove.
Moving behind her deftly, he head butted her towards the clearing where Quinn waited and stalked off to find a tastey treat.

"Oy," she repremanded the cat-beast midly. "No need to get huffy." but N'rris had already gone, slipping away. "Huh, cats. Go Fig." With that cheerful resolution, she made her way through the clearing.
"Yo, Quinn!" Wyvern greeted, spotting her friend, her face breaking out into a broad grin. "Hope I didn't keep ya waitin'. Wanted to come prepared and all." The green-haired woman patted her shoulder sack for emphasis.
Still grinning, she asked, "Now, whats this I hear about a quest most sacred?"

Quinn jumped up and embraced the friend she had not seen for a long while. "It's good to see you , Wyv. I knew you would come." Dashing over to where she had been seated, Quinn picked up two worn, raggedy books and lugged them over to Wyvern.
"We have Linking Books, Wyv. Real Linking Books... to other worlds!" Excitedly, Quinn opened the plain book to reveal the moving panel within. "I've only ever heard of them before and now I have been given two of them. I almost can't believe I'm awake!
'We have been charged with a rescue mission on the troubled world of Oceania. I know you have an open door policy as far as pets go and you're a great problem solver. I could really use you. You get to keep whatever you rescue. N'rris is going to be our guide and guardian.
'Where is he anyway?" Quinn paused in her rushed explanation to search for the crimson kitty.

Wyv grinned, unable to stop the infectious cheer of Quinny's excitement. "Linking books, huh? I've heard of stargates, nexus points, and the like, but never a linking book." She practically beamed at the palpable joy of such a discovery. "Neat," she pronounced, her highest award of praise.
"Oceania, huh? Sounds... wet." The girl grinned. Having been born and curerntly claiming residence on an island gave her an unfathomable love of the sea and all things watery.
"N'rris, eh? He's..." she fumbled for an appropriate word, as she cast a glance around for the absent guide. "... very toothy," she finished with a sage nod and an upward quirk of the lips.
(( Rawr. Gotta bail for the night. >< I'll catch up as soon as I can. ))

Quinn grinned at her friend and ushered Wyvern over to where she had been sitting, introducing her to Zane in the process.
Eventually, N'rris returned from his excursion, licking his pleased chops. He curled up in the grass where he could watch Quinn and the surroundings equally.
((No problem, Wyv. *squeel* I'm do happy you are here! I luffs your RP style!))

Winterfalcon's Note Sosiqui, Quinny-chan:
Hey, guys. Time to set off for your first Age! When you're ready, just touch the linking panel at the back of the book you were given.
You'll find that you don't take the book to your Age with you, so be SURE to have your Myst linking book so you can get back!
Also, please remind your team that they're to stick with you guys. You'll be the descision-makers, so only you can say where to go. ((OOC: Once you 'pick' an area to go or what to look at, then that will appear for you -- this is so that nothing is spoiled for you later on. XD It might take a day or so for me to see what you've RPed and respond to it accordingly, as I do have a life.)) The rest of your team, however, is free to explore the immediate area around you as they wish. Be sure to bring back some creatures! That's the whole point of the trip, after all. Oh, and be sure to take some netting gear or something to catch them with ... although some might be tricky little buggers, so be careful. First-aid kits can't really go wrong, either.
You can come back in two weeks from today. Don't worry if you don't explore everything or catch every creature! You'll have a chance to go back later.
I think that's it for now. Have fun!
- Winter "First aid, I got me some of that.. um... hang on..." Sosiqui rummaged through some of the remaining piles of stuff. "Well. Er. I should clean this up.... um... here, why don't you guys go ahead? If you stick near Quinny, you'll be fine, since she has a Myst linking book too..." Sosiqui fumbled for the Oceania linking book and propped it on a stump, open to the first page so that the linking panel was easy to reach and touch. "I'll join you guys in a bit. Oof. Check and see if Atrus left us any messages or something! Good luck!" ((OOC: Too sick to RP properly. XD;; And going offline from tomorrow until June 1st, so I'll do catch-up later on. Go look at the journal first, and after that, er... confer among yourselves and do whatever the group decides. I leave it in your capable hands. Have fuuuun~~))

Epine continued to observe the girl as she rummaged through the mount of supplies and after a few moments of mental debate, she too leant down and began to extract a length of rope, a net and what appeared to be a small piece of wire. She wasn't entirely sure why the wire was there (perhaps from a broken object) but she did shake her head in amusement and finally attach each object to her belt.
Kitted out (without the first aid kit) she stood back once more and glanced around, stretching in a feline-like manner before turning her attentions to the linking book which she couldn't help but be curious in relation to - she was simply fascinated by the type of magic that it could hold.
"Well then, perhaps a few of us should enter in order to ensure that it is secure?" She enquried at last, placing a gloved hand to the hidden weapons by her side...

Despite the fact that she should probably wait until a person with a Myst linking book should go in first, Kel-chan couldn't help herself. Scooping up Teal'c in one hand (it was handy he was so small) she eagerly reached out. The whirling image was so beautiful.... as she placed a hand squarely on it she gasped. The world was falling away; her vision went fuzzing at the edges and she opened her mouth to scream...

"I do not believe this!" Epine snapped as she motioned to Anathema abruptly and shook her head. The Rishlan promptly leapt onto her mistress' shoulder and within moments the pale-skinned woman had placed her gloved hands upon the link - immediately the air began to warp around her, heating up and almost seeming to bubble beneath her skin before the world around her disappeared in its entirity.
She was used to strange sensations but never in her life had she been in quite a situation, regardless - her duty (or so her mind told her) was to follow after Kel and ensure that she didn't get herself killed in the process of being in a foreign world!
On to Oceania!

Quinn stared in disbelief at the gall of her two traveling companions. It was like Winter's words hadn't even reached their ears. Everyone was supposed to work together and listen to her and Sosi and here these two go off, on there own, without a way back.
Sighing in a huff, Quinn checked her supplies and the supplies in Zane's saddlebags, rearranging a few of his items to include the first aid kit and the netting that Winter cautioned them to bring. Then, motioning Wyv over to her, she opened her book to Oceania.
Indicating that N'rris should be first, he was acting as their guardian after all, she watched as the crimson feline touched the panel with his nose and disipated in a mote of glitter. Smiling, Quinn ushered Wyvern over to the book and watched as she too disappeared. Then, Quinn held the book out for Zane before taking it over and hiding it in the bole of a hollowed out tree for safe keeping.
With one last deep breath and a reminder to herself to chastise the others, Quinn touched the panel and was gone.
