I must say that I agree with this movement.
Why?
Because Tales of Symphonia is the most highly overrated game in the Tales series, if not all RPG's.
Now why is that?
The answer to that is simple: it came out for the GameCube in the US, being the first Tales games for many GC fanboys (and girls) out there, thus becoming the favorite game for many (even though it was the only Tales games those fanboys had ever played).
These fanboys then decide that they don't inform themselves on any other games, and decide to move forward with their "ToS is teh best game evarr!!!111one" Crusade.
It's really quite annoying, because then they don't give other games a chance. Tales of Legendia is seen as the worst game of the series, mainly because it's battle system isn't like Symphonia's.
Ugh, give me a break.
ToL was so much better than ToS in many ways. The characters actually had life breathed into them. The story was more decent, because it wasn't as predictable. On that note, ToS as having the best story? Please. Can anyone say, "Luke, I am your father!"? Pssh.
I'm also tired of having to tell ToS newberz/fanboys that it is the prequel to Tales of Phantasia. IT'S NOT THAT HARD. LOOK UP THE INFORMATION.
Once again, I must say that I don't say this because I hate the game. I do like it, but it wasn't my favorite. Actually, ToL is because I love the characters so much. ToS wasn't able to allow me to attach to a character. An idiotic hero...a ditzy heroine...toss in some geniuses, traitors, oh and let's not forget those last two that pretty much were just mannequins to make the story longer, and you have ToS's cast.
I think if all the ToS fanboys took the time to:
1)Learn more about the series... 2)Not rant on so much about how ToS is "the greatest game ever" even though they haven't played any other Tales... 3)Learn proper grammar and punctuation...
...we could all get along a little better.
And that concludes my rant.

I actually wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Tales of Symphonia. o.O; Er, I mean, I wouldn't know of the series, that is. I first saw Legendia on the shelves, and I'm one of those late gamers, at least when it came to RPGs. I was playing FPS games and platformers...I couldn't tell you what the hell an RPG WAS five years ago. XD
I saw Legendia two years ago, and I asked my friend about it, and she hates the entire series (except Tales of Rebirth and Tales of Destiny II - the true sequel, not the renamed Eternia). She told me negative things, I forgot about it, but it kept nagging at me because I saw Tales of Phantasia sitting on the shelves too...
Later, I saw a clip of Symphonia, and the friend that doesn't like the series bought it for me. XD While I liked the game, I was also playing Magna Carta: Tears of Blood mostly, and playing ToS on the side. For anyone that is familiar with the fans of that game...most people hate that game, and most fans are actually just fans of the artist. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? sad Too bad...the game has an excellent story that only looks predictable for the first fifty hours in. XD Shitty load times, glitchy a bit, and yeah, the gameplay could be improved, but way more fun than Symphonia. razz
However, ToS got me interested, and I picked up ToP. Still playing it on GBA - it takes me FOREVER to play a portable game. My eyes get weird, and I'm going blind in my right eye so it's hard to play for more than an hour at a time. Great for playing during lunch at work though. >>; Uuuh, anyway, I bought ToA shortly after it came out, and that's what REALLY got me into the series. I didn't like it at first, because I didn't like Luke at first, but I absolutely LOVE that game now. It's my favorite one, I think. Let me finish ToP first, then I'll get back to you. o.O; I have Legendia, which sadly, I don't like too much so far, but I'm not giving up on it.
I also bought Tales of the World, but I don't see that as a full Tales game. I want Rebirth badly...and all the other games, I admit it.
2D, 3D...couldn't matter to me. I'm weird; I started playing RPGs when the graphics were getting good, but I love older games. Take for instance that I'm one of the only people who likes the first game in the Shadow Hearts series and I like Koudelka (it's a prequel to SH) but the newer games were "meh" for me...and I played the second one before any of them. o.O;
Uuuh, I didn't even realize until a few months after I finished ToS that there was such a problem...then I visited the forums here and saw the fanfiction and fanart...and I'm sick of it, too. I mean, one thread is fine, but it seems ridiculous.
There are other games in the Tales of series, and most are better or I don't know enough about them to judge. ;P I definitely don't see why people would get upset about a Tales of fan not swearing that ToS is the greatest thing ever...I'm glad I never run into one of those kinds of fans. That would piss me off. I'm a fan of the series.
I was happy I found this guild, because I can talk about MORE than ToS. Do a guild search. You'll find PLENTY of ToS guilds. :-/
I'm not sure a movement against ToS is really necessary, but then...maybe it is. Depends on how extreme you're talking. o.O; I mean, the people that make the repeat threads are all pretty dumb anyway, when they can easily find a ToS thread that's been around longer...

You and I must fight for our rights. I didn't realize there were so many ToS haters. Those noobs give us ToS fans a bad name. ToS was my first Tales game and is still my favorite (although I have to admit I love Abyss ALMOST as much as I love Symphonia). I just didn't like Tales of Legendia because I didn't like the plot and I didn't like most of the characters whereas I loved them in Symphonia and Abyss, especially Symphonia. I became very, very attached to them and I liked the plot. It had some cliche parts, but overall I thought it was very good. But that's just my opinion.
Just ignore the people who claim ToS is better without having played any of the other Tales games. It's all in your personal opinion. Don't let some annoying people ruin a good game. (And honestly, I've never really met an extremely annoying obsessor of ToS. I know I obsess of the game, but if someone doesn't like it then I respect that.) You and I must fight to survive.
